Or maybe she’s just philosophically opposed to public education? Lady needs to visit more public schools, IMO. Oh, she absolutely is and she absolutely does need to see what is actually happening in public schools today. She is seriously behind the times. My second grader’s classroom looks NOTHING like that picture, and is nothing like what I experienced as a child. Ironically, I went to a private school and the private schools I’ve been in most recently still look exactly like the rows of desks of the olden days.

My second grader’s classroom looks NOTHING like that picture, and is nothing like what I experienced as a child. Ironically, I went to a private school and the private schools I’ve been in most recently still look exactly like the rows of desks of the olden days. Yep. A friend of mine got a job at a swank ($25K/year) private school this year. She says that in terms of expected teaching style and outcomes, it's like stepping back 20 years to when she first started teaching. Contrast with the the urban, Title 1 school where I teach, where teachers are using inquiry-based techniques and giving students ownership over their learning, and most have embraced flexible seating arrangements to some degree. Betsy DeVos is an idiot with a pre-conceived agenda. She has no interest in learning about or improving American public education. Her goal is to end public education and replace our school with for-profit charters to enrich herself and her buddies. So of course she's going to demonize our public schools with stock photos - because she wouldn't find a setting like that in any public school in America today.

linkSo the EPA is out with their score card. It’s lists how they have the American Taxpayer $1B! Among The accomplishments it’s touting is... *Eliminated, substantially or entirely, seven sites from the National Priorities List of contaminated sites; only two sites were removed the previous year. EPA also awarded $60 million in Brownfields cleanup grants to local communities. *Approved 3,000 Total Maximum Daily Loads and cut the amount of time it took the Agency to review state water quality standards in half (from 120 days to 60). *Cleared the Agency’s backlog of new chemical submissions — containing 600 new submissions as of January 2017 — and ensured that all new chemicals coming to market received a safety determination within about 90 days. I’m certainly not a scientist but based on Pruitt’s comments I’m not sure, in the long run, this is a good thing for the environment and for the American People

Looks nothing like our school either, not even the teachers that have been there for over 20 years and are nearing retirement have classes that look like that. Hell, very few classrooms even have traditional desks, we have low tables where children can sit on the floor, standing desks, chairs with wiggle seats, yoga balls instead of chairs, etc, etc. I don’t think Trump has even one qualified person working for him, but she is still the one that scares me the most and I fear has the most potential to do lasting damage.

What swamp? Lobbyists get ethics waivers to work for TrumpBy MICHAEL BIESECKER, JULIET LINDERMAN and RICHARD LARDNER Mar 07, 2018 WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and his appointees have stocked federal agencies with ex-lobbyists and corporate lawyers who now help regulate the very industries from which they previously collected paychecks, despite Trump’s promises as a candidate to drain the swamp in Washington. A week after his inauguration, Trump signed an executive order that bars former lobbyists, lawyers and others from participating in any matter they worked on for private clients within two years of going to work for the government. But records reviewed by The Associated Press show Trump’s top lawyer, White House counsel Don McGahn, has issued at least 37 ethics waivers to key administration officials at the White House and executive branch agencies.Though the waivers were typically issued months ago, the Office of Government Ethics disclosed several more on Wednesday. The White House had previously released more than a dozen waivers granted to its staff. One allows FBI Director Chris Wray “to participate in matters involving a confidential former client.” The three-sentence waiver gives no indication about what Wray’s conflict of interest might be. The FBI declined to comment Thursday. Before returning to the Justice Department last year, Wray represented clients that included big banks and other corporations as a partner at a law firm that paid him $9.2 million a year, according to his financial disclosure statement. Trump’s executive order on ethics supplanted a more stringent set of rules put in place by President Barack Obama in 2009 to avoid conflicts of interests. Nearly 70 waivers were issued to executive branch officials during Obama’s eight years, though those were generally more narrowly focused and offered a fuller legal explanation for why the waiver was granted.** An analysis by the AP shows that nearly half of the political appointees hired at the Environmental Protection Agency under Trump have strong industry ties. Of 59 EPA hires tracked by the AP over the last year, about a third worked as registered lobbyists or lawyers for chemical manufacturers, fossil fuel producers or other corporate clients. This is the very type of revolving-door conflicts of interests that Trump promised voters he would eliminate. ** Agriculture Department policy adviser Kailee Tzacz is allowed to “participate personally and substantially in matters regarding the Dietary Guidelines for Americans,” a guide that offers nutritional information and recommendations.McGahn’s waiver didn’t offer much detail into the potential conflict Tzacz’s appointment would pose. But other records show she most recently served as food policy director for the Corn Refiners Association, a trade organization representing producers of corn starch, corn oil and high fructose corn syrup. Before that, she lobbied on behalf of SNAC International, a trade association for snack food manufacturers.Much more at link: www.apnews.com/2e23b380a1ec4232abde917d8796d7a6/What-swamp?-Lobbyists-get-ethics-waivers-to-work-for-TrumpI highlighted Tzacz because it's very specific. What she did before and now 'offers nutritional information and recommendations'. What WILL she suggest for the SNAP food boxes?

The latest.

“The economy continues strengthen, and that’s good news. I, for one, am not going to gainsay progress, as so many in the opposition did during the @barackobama years—even as he steadily led us back from the hell of the financial crisis!”
I seem to remember trump insisting the unemployment rate under President Obama was “fake” and “rigged” but now he claims he is solely responsible for the current unemployment rate. Problem is, this does nothing to help the gang in the rust belt states that voted for trump because no one but him listen to them.

Link to read email: msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/TODAY/z_Creative/cohen%20email-redacted-2%20(002).pdfMichael Cohen used Trump company email in Stormy Daniels arrangementsby SARAH FITZPATRICK and TRACY CONNOR President Donald Trump's personal attorney used his Trump Organization email while arranging to transfer money into an account at a Manhattan bank before he wired $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels to buy her silence. The lawyer, Michael Cohen, also regularly used the same email account during 2016 negotiations with the actress — whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford — before she signed a nondisclosure agreement, a source familiar with the discussions told NBC News. And Clifford's attorney at the time addressed correspondence to Cohen in his capacity at the Trump Organization and as "Special Counsel to Donald J. Trump," the source said. ** Cohen has tried to put distance between the president and the payout — which has been the subject of campaign finance complaints and an inquiry on Friday afternoon from congressional Democrats, who said in a letter to Cohen that the situation may put Trump at risk of blackmail attempts. In a statement last month, Cohen said he used his "personal funds to facilitate a payment" to Clifford, who says she had an intimate relationship with Trump a decade ago. "Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly," Cohen said in that statement. But an email uncovered in the last 24 hours and provided to NBC News by Clifford's current attorney, Michael Avenatti, shows First Republic Bank and Cohen communicated about the money using his Trump company email address, not his personal gmail account. Click here to read the email "I think this document seriously calls into question the prior representation of Mr. Cohen and the White House relating to the source of the monies paid to Ms. Clifford in an effort to silence her," said Avenatti, who is representing Clifford in a lawsuit against Trump. "We smell smoke." More at link: OH YES!! www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/michael-cohen-used-trump-org-email-stormy-daniels-arrangements-n855021

Trump is getting his grand military parade — but it will be missing something bigNoor Al-Sibai NOOR AL-SIBAI 09 MAR 2018 AT 18:11 ET President Donald Trump is getting his military parade after all — but it’s not gonna have any tanks like the Paris Bastille Day event that inspired it. CNN reported Friday that Trump’s grand military parade but “will not involve any heavy military vehicles like tanks to avoid doing damage to the streets of Washington.” In a memo CNN acquired sent to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Pentagon noted that the parade will “include wheeled vehicles only, no tanks” and that “consideration must be given to minimize damage to local infrastructure.” The parade is to coincide with the annual DC Veteran’s Day parade, and will focus on veterans from the Revolutionary War to the present “with an emphasis on the price of freedom.” www.rawstory.com/2018/03/trump-getting-grand-military-parade-will-missing-something-big/
