Has anyone ever been? DH and I are planning a weekend getaway for our 28th Anniversary next weekend.
I have been looking on all of the travel sites and trying to compile a list of things to do/places to eat. The problem is that there is so much to so/see we won't be able to do or eat it all.
Has anyone been and have suggestions of what not to miss? Weather might be iffy, rain is forecast for the next week.
DH wants to go to Oaklawn and watch the hors races. He jokingly dared me to dress up and wear a big ole hat.
He has agreed to go to one of the spas, there are several couple things. However neither of us are keen on being touched by strangers, so it may just be us in the thermal pools and a couples bath.
My two BFFs will be dressing me by committee like we usually do before a big event: it consists of trying on different outfits and taking pictures of me in them and posting it to our group chat. Once we pick an outfit, then comes the discussion of shoes and accessories. If any peas want to get in on the action and offer any wardrobe ideas, I am open to suggestions.

We went for the afternoon at thanksgiving. We were actually staying at nearby lake Catherine state park. We toured a bathhouse and walked the prominade. It was a very cold and windy afternoon so we ducked into the nearest restaurant to eat and then headed back to our cabin at the park. We learned a lot of interesting history and enjoyed the experience. Neither one of us were interested in a spa experience, but we could have done that if we wanted.

My DH and I love Hot Springs and have gone for many years for our Anniversary. It's been a long time since we've been to bath house row, but loved it. Get over being shy and try it. It is heaven --- I do not like pedicures or manicures because I don't like being "handled". I love the full experience there. My favorite was at the Arlington Hotel downtown. Great place to stay. We stayed at a great VRBO on one of the lakes last time, but usually would stay out a bit at Mountain Harbor Resort and drive in.
Favorite places to eat for us (always our anniversary dinner) is Fisherman's Wharf (quite a bit south of Oaklawn and on a lake), McClards BBQ (pretty close to Oaklawn) and Rod's Pizza. The Werk's sandwich/pizza chain is really good for lunch.
There are so many places to go and see. Outdoor adventures. They have the Belle of Hot Springs river boat (we do not like the food at all), but the tour of the lake is nice. Marvin Woodland Gardens is a beautiful place to visit. Oaklawn (famous corned beef sandwiches) has horse races and a small casino attached. All sorts of touristy places. There is a really nice miniature gold course - Pirates Cove. A lot of lakes and parks, shopping. Walking around downtown near the Arlington Hotel, there are all sorts of things to do. We tend to stay away from that area now that we have been there plenty. In nice weather, it is a motorcycle haven. Hundreds of them. Young, old, a big mix. That is fun to see and experience at least once. There is a space needle near downtown. If you are driving, if you have empty water jugs, you can go to a fountain in the middle of downtown and fill up as much as you want from the natural hot springs, no charge. The water comes out quite warm.
Camping, cabins, being on the lakes are the greatest part for us. They do have boat rentals and you can also ride the ducks (which I would never do.)
If I lived closer, we would go more often. Just a nice getaway destination.
Happy Anniversary. Have a great time!

Thank you Suziee2! I appreciate the information. We are actually booked to stay at the Arlington. It reminds me of the Peabody Hotel in Memphis.
I've heard that they have dancing there on Friday and Saturday nights, but it doesn't say anything about it on the hotel website.
I'm really looking forward to this trip. It's amazing we have never been there considering we live so close (3 1/2 Is hours).

Fat Bottom girls cupcakes if either of you have a sweet tooth! We tent camped in Eureka Springs at Turpentine Creek animal refuge and drove to Hot Springs a few years ago. Loved the area and there were lots of motorcyclists in both towns. Have a nice weekend!

Just got home from a day trip to Hot Springs. Today was just a fun day at Oaklawn but I go there several times a year for work. My two favorite restaurants are Fisherman’s Wharf and Rolando’s. Rolando’s is just down the street from the Arlington. Garvin Woodland Gardens is wonderful! I love sitting on the veranda at the Arlington and watching the traffic go by and the downtown area has many cute boutique shops.
