Update
We picked her up today and she was so happy to see us! She’s getting around really well. She hates her cone, but we are able to take it off when we can give her our full attention to make sure she doesn’t chew on her staples.
Here’s a pic.
My sweet little Mia had to have her leg amputated today. She hurt it about a year ago and never really got feeling back in it. We are not sure if this weekend she cut it or if she just started chewing on it, but we took her in on Saturday because her paw was badly cut. The doctor tried to save it and only have to take a toe, but by Monday it was badly infected.
She had surgery today and I talked to the doctor afterward. She said all went well and they would keep her in sedation for awhile. I cannot go get her until tomorrow after school.
She’s only 4 pounds which the doctor thinks will be to her benefit. The doctor says this is much harder on the humans than the dog! Please pray for my baby that she’s not in too much pain and does ok with recovery.
Here’s a pic of us taking her in on Saturday.

Ohhhhh poor lil thing! But I’m sure she’ll be up and running before you know it. I’m always amazed how quickly they adjust.
Btw you are so pretty and the lil boy next to you is adorable!
Oh and your fur baby is a cutie, too! Cuteness all around!! 😀

Sorry about your pup. Animals are usually quick to adapt to things that would devastate us humans.
Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Awww. My neighbor's dog had three legs and she was faster than the four legged dogs in the neighborhood. I have read that dogs don't feel sorry for themselves the way humans do, so hoping that is true and that her recovery is quick.

She is so cute!! I hope she recovers quickly. It is definitely worse on the humans that the pets. I had a dog who had to have an eye removed. It broke my heart, and even though the vet said she was in pain, I didn't see it. I let him do the surgery because I trusted him to do the right thing for her. BUT, a couple hours after we came home from the vet's after her eye was removed, she was running around and bouncing everywhere. The dog had just had major surgery, but it was clear that she was feeling better than she had in a long time. And it clearly didn't bother her that she lost the eye. I'm betting your doggie will be feeling great in no time at all.

Prayers for your Mia. The cocker I had from the time I was 10-24 had really bad glaucoma in one eye and drops just did not ever help. When he was about 9 we had to have his eye removed. My Mom and I were basket cases over it and so upset. But when we picked him up the day after his surgery you could tell instantly he felt so much better and it did not phase him a bit. We grew his top knot a bit longer to cover it, but people rarely even noticed. Your girl will take some time to get use to her three leg situation, but Im sure you’ll notice she feels so much better once she heals.

I have seen so many well adapted 3-legged doggies on tv, I would be sad, but happy that the condition was not worse, and that he would be happy, feeling better, and still around to be with his mama.
I have a feeling your dog will be up and running in no time. Was it a hind leg? Seems like that would be better situation.
Prayers for your furry baby.

I know a lot of 3 legged dogs! The pound I volunteer for has not got the resources for complicated reconstruction surgeries so bad breaks are amputated. They do just fine, like they have 4, and Mia will too.
Hugs to your baby!
