First dumb 2peas closes up with no warning...
Now my favorite daily blog is going to take a break.... Young House Love.... I loved reading their DYI projects and how they have become successful. I know they are not everyone's cup of tea but I did enjoy them... so hopefully they will be back...

Other than the blogs each of our kids writes to journal their adventures, I can't think of one I would deeply miss.

Aww.. that stinks!
I don't read blogs because it seems like so many try too hard to be funny. I just never did get into it.
I think it would be tiring being a Blogger having to constantly be coming up with material.

It sounds like it is needed and won't be forever. I understanding missing a blog. I have a dozen I read and 3-4 that I really, really like and would be sad if they stopped.

Seems like the YHL couple have been in a few magazine articles lately. Maybe they need a vacation. lol

Yep, I saw that YHL was taking a break. I used to read them weekly, but in the past 6 months it hasn't been that often. Still surprised they are taking a break due to them being so popular with books and all. It's almost as devastating as Mary Mary moving on from her blog! ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

I know! I was surprised by that tonight when I sat down to read the blogs I follow. Hopefully they'll decide to regroup and start it up again. I'll be so disappointed if they just end up hanging it up...

Consistent blogging is a lot harder than it seems. I don't read that one but I'm sorry to those who will miss it. Hope they come back soon!

I'm a daily YHL reader too and am sad that they're going away for a bit. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) That being said, I do think that they've been missing the mark lately, so I'm hoping this break will rejuvenate them. I know they have a lot on their plate with the new baby! I think (and would be interested in other Refupeas' thoughts) that, since their first two houses weren't "forever houses" they were more open to jumping in and tackling big room makeovers (like their last kitchen). Right now, though, since this house is where they plan to be for the long haul, they're understandably less open to doing that here (until they have the ideas and $$ for what they want to do). I think they're more in their groove when they've got a big home project going on (and the recent laundry room was a taste of that), and it's been hard since those projects are not as frequent right now. I sure hope they're back soon and have their mojo back!!

I hate getting sucked into blogs and then they stop. I don't follow the one you are talking about, but I commiserate with you.

I am surprised to hear this... But at the same time, not really. I feel for them. They get criticized no matter what they do. When they were blogging more, commenters would complain that they did too many filler posts and that they needed to slow down and post less often. When they did that, people complained that this is their job and they should be able to post more frequently. I think they keep trying to please everyone and keep getting slammed no matter what they try... It would be exhausting.
I don't like every project they do, but it's not my house and so who cares? But, I am sure that the never ending criticism plays a part in why they have lost the joy of blogging.

To be honest, I loved House 1. Totally my style, tastefully done, lots of great ideas. I thought House 2 was...not good. The kitchen was especially bad with some of those hacked cabinets. House 3 had so much potential, and while it's been better than House 2, I still don't see much inspiration. I often question their taste level and design, and sometimes think the reason House 1 looked so good is because they took inspiration from other people. Not saying there haven't been some good projects here and there, but wonder if they really have the ability to carry a popular blog, books, design house, etc.
I think John and Sherry's real talent is simple, everyday projects that anyone can do. Like, here's a room in a Pottery Barn catalog that we redid on a budget. That's what I liked about their first house. Simple, basic decor that anyone could do. Anyway, I met J&S last year and they were really sweet and I wish them well with whatever they do. I just think they got in over their heads.

So I didn't really follow them until they were almost out of house 2... so about a year and half. I do like the house they are in now and what they have done. I do love that laundry room for sure, even if the posts got a little tedious. All that BLUE in the house... holy moly!! I would definitely say that not every post will be for everyone. I liked it when they did have more 'decorating' tips than makeover rooms..since I wouldn't be doing that in my own home, but I appreciated those posts and followed anyway... It's almost 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' thing. If it wasn't for the blog, there wouldn't have been the book, Target, Parade of Homes stuff (I loved those posts on the Parade of Homes!!) But on the other hand I can see doing a blog every single day could really get very hard and coming up with new material.

I've never spent a lot of time looking through decorating blogs, so I'd never heard of this one before. I mean, I love looking through decorating blogs when someone links one, but I was never one to seek them out on my own. It's fun though. I spent an hour or more scrolling through their four the houses, and I really enjoyed it seeing what they did with those old outdated rooms ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

I like that their newest house was built in the 70s and I recently moved into a 70s house so we are facing the same updating problems. Some of the step by step by step posts get a little long sometimes (the laundry room they built is nice but at the moment my laundry room is staying under our stairs) but I have learned a lot and will go back and read when I'm facing my own issues. We don't have any blue trim in our house (or any trim in some cases) but do have some ugly floors and an ugly kitchen. I hope they keep blogging because I need kitchen ideas!
