Is the hero arts embossing gun by Wagner worth it? It’s on sale on joann.com for $28.

Yes, very worth it. The cord on my pink Zap gun started to fray and spark. I replaced it with the Wagner. It's far superior in every way.

What type of heat gun are you looking to replace? I had that an old purple one that worked just fine but after hearing so many rave reviews I decided to get the Wagner one. In my view, I don't see that much of a difference. My old one worked fine and I don't find that the Wagner heat gun is "all that"...

I love my wagner...much faster and hotter than my old Stampin' Up one.

I have a Nicole embossing gun and it works just fine no issues. I just keep hearing this Wagner one is amazing so I thought about it because it was on sale. I really don't need a new gun.

I had an old Marvy one that lasted a looooong time. About a year ago it started making a rattle when I first turned it on. Back in September I was teaching a class and needed an extra heat tool so I bought a spare, another Marvy. A month or so ago the old one started smoking while I was using it! Yikes! Glad I had a backup since I was in the middle of a project.
I've used the Marvy, the Wagner and the Ranger. I do think the Wagner heats up a few seconds faster. But other than that I can't tell a difference between Wagner and Marvy.
And I heat emboss on at least 3/4 the cards I make.

I had the American Crafts pink Zap gun and got the Hero Arts one on the recommendation of Jennifer McGuire because she said it would help with paper not warping. While it is a slight improvement, it's not so drastic that I think it was worth the money. Knowing what I know now, I would not have spent the money. (Also, I don't do a lot of heat embossing because I hate how messy it is, so if you do a ton of heat embossing it may be worth it.)

My Hero Arts one is Milwaukee (which I think Wagner bought) I've had it for years and it works amazingly. It was the first real embossing gun I bought (I got the Ranger heat tool first without knowing it didn't work well on embossing powder)

Amazon also has one for the same price today, but with free shipping if you have Prime. (I've had less than great experiences ordering online from Joann's). I believe it's the same thing - I bookmarked it after doing some research months ago.

I’ve had my Milwaukee heat gun for years and it’s still going strong. These were popular when I did stamping and supposedly they were actually used to remove/strip wallpaper. You had to go to a hardware store to buy one.

I've had my Milwaukee heat gun (the predecessor to the Wagner) since 1995. It's still working great. Definitely worth the price.

I've been working on my Christmas cards today and doing a ton of heat embossing on a fairly intricate design. This Wagner embossing gun is truly amazing. It really does get a LOT hotter than my previous one and it's making this tedious job much easier and faster than I was expecting! Today I'm happy I have it!

I have a heat gun that works just fine. So it might takes a few seconds longer to heat up but it does the job just fine.

The difference between my Wagner and the old Nicole Crafts heat gun I used to use is kind of astounding.
I always thought that my Nicole worked just fine. Then I got the Wagner. And wow. Melts faster. More evenly. No burning the paper before the stuff is melts. Just an all around better experience.

So much worth it. It is very hot and works so well. I've had mine for 5 years now and it has never failed me.

I really didn't think it was "all that" until this past weekend when I was using it to do a lot of embossing. It really is quite a remarkable difference.

Thanks for the feedback about the Wagner heat gun! I was playing with my Color Bursts a couple of nights ago and realized that the fluke with my high setting not working the last time I used it wasn't a fluke (it wouldn't come on for a few seconds but would come on after I switched to low and back to high...this time I could only use low heat) so in addition to 2 other things I had been wanting, I picked that up during the Joann.com sale (still going through today, if you're interested). It is half off ($22.99) right now plus the extra 20% off coupon, so it was a bargain!
I also got 2 10 packs of EZMount foam sheets. I have been waiting/hoping that Joann.com would carry them for no less than 4 years and they finally added them online a few weeks ago. Since then, I've just been waiting for a sale. They are half off but yesterday and today there is an additional 20% off coupon to use with it. So instead of nearly $40 for them on Amazon, they were $20 each after the 50% off and additional 20% off. They NEVER go on sale. I discovered that a few years before I needed the material there was a super cheap option that you could find on eBay but whoever made the off brand product stopped doing so and only the CC EZMount was available anymore. I have one partial sheet that I would only use for stamps that were worthy but now I can move anything I want and not worry for a while. Eventually I would like to try out a grab bag of stamps ($25 for a pound of rubber only) from VivaLasVegaStamps but wanted to make sure I could mount favorites to foam first and now I can!
The last thing I got was a new pegboard basket. They have them in my store but the $12.99 one I want is on sale unmarked for 20% off which is just not sale enough for me. They'd been online but for in store purchase only (not even in store pick up) for about a month. They finally went to 40% off (plus the extra 20% off) and were available to ship so I had to add that to my order, too. It's a nice wide basket that I'm hoping will allow me to have the Bella Blvd sticker sheets I currently have hanging on my pegboard more accessible. Instead of taking down the entire bundle of stickers, I can rifle through them and just take out the ones I want.

I bought mine sometime in the 90’s and it is still going strong. It was pretty much the only one at the time. There was no “craft” ones available yet. The only caution is that the metal tip gets very hot and can burn things.

I have an old Milwaukee and then found a Wagner at a garage sale for $3 so I have a back-up!

I bought one a while back. I did something really dumb while I was making a bunch of invites. Before I started using it on the card, I would warm it up a bit and would blow it on my leg. I was wearing PJ's. I didn't have a problem of any sort for at least 20 cards. Then I held it too long on my leg and burned a hole in my PJ's and burned my leg. Ok, so yeah it was a really stupid thing to do.
