UPDATE: I decided to go to the feast. I left around 2 and went to the crop. Instead of ending at 6 they decided to stay late until 9! So I actually made my goal of 50 layouts this month. I think I did 52 total. I am the short one in the photo. grammadee - I actually wore my gown to the crop afterward and most of the ladies really enjoyed seeing me all dressed up.
<iframe width="3.680000000000007" height="5" style="position: absolute; width: 3.68px; height: 5px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 130px; top: 19px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_34317580" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="3.680000000000007" height="5" style="position: absolute; width: 3.68px; height: 5px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 0px; top: 214px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_44084347" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="3.680000000000007" height="5" style="position: absolute; width: 3.68px; height: 5px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 130px; top: 214px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_44406657" scrolling="no"></iframe> On Saturday I have a crop from 9 am to about 6 pm. Also on Saturday is a medieval feast my son is going to from 11-3 not far from where I crop and I am invited.
If I go to the feast, they have a photographer there and I can maybe get a nice in-costume photo of my son and me. I have a nice new dress I can fit into if I squeeze and wear a corset and I probably won't have a chance to wear it anyplace for a long time.
Should I just go to the feast and then go crop a few hours afterward, or try to go to the crop, then change and go to the feast? Or just choose one or the other.
You know I love to scrapbook but I also love the chance to do things with my son and get cool photos.

Go to the feast with your son, get the photo, wear the dress. Then if you have time finish up with the crop. There will be another crop.

Go to the feast and enjoy making memories with your son.
ETA: if you have time afterwards, attend the crop. For me, 3 hours or less wouldn't be worth the effort.

Take this from the person who tries to do everything if there's a chance to do that. Always trying to figure out how to be in two places at once. Huge case of FOMO here. But I voted to skip the crop. Go to the feast. Spend time with your son. Wear the dress. Have the photo taken. Enjoy the day. I might vote differently if you have only one crop per year--or even per quarter. But as LisaDV says, there will be other crops. And you can scrap THIS day at the next crop! Before or after the feast does not leave much time at the crop anyway: hardly worth hauling your stuff there (even if you just take one case with you). And I would need some transition time to get back into scrapping after the other adventure.

I say feast then crop if you have time! Best of both worlds!

Oooor... what if you went in your medieval gear to the crop in the morning? Said nothing about WTH you were doing? Left and went to the feast, then returned to the crop and started scrapping like nothing was out of the ordinary? You could get double cropping time--before AND after--save some time changing in the middle of the day, and start a whole new "That one lady at the crop..." chapter!

There will always be another crop, but your son may not be interested in medieval stuff next year - or he may have moved into the no pictures phase by this time next year.

Going to the crop, changing your clothes, leaving, then coming back just for a couple hours wouldn't be any fun at all, as far as cropping. I think I'd skip the crop altogether and just go to the feast.

Go to the feast, you will have years to go to other crops but trust me, not enough days to do stuff together! (I lost my mom last April and sure wish I'd done more with her!) Plus you'll get tons of great pics to crop with later!

I voted feast then crop...if I had friends at the crop I'd probably bring a small project just so I could visit for a bit. And I say wear your costume to the crop and change when you get there ('cuz it would be funny, but corset)

The feast and your son are more important. 3 hours of cropping time isn't worth the set-up and take-down for me, so I would skip it.

I'm in a similar position with a crop and a friends 50th birthday party. I've cancelled my space at the crop. Because the time and effort it takes for me to prep for a crop won't be worth only being there for half the time.

Making memories should always be the priority. I voted go to the feast! This!! Even if you never get to go to a crop again ever...time like this with adult sons trumps everything.

I'm all about doing fun things with my kids (and photo ops), but I also take time to do the things I love too. Being a mom seems to mean always putting others first. I have made it a rule to compromise and also on a few occasions, I put myself first. I have never seen my husband fret over what he should do as a dad.
