Oh Canada
I so wanted to like this collection, but I am a bit disappointed. It’s a little too cutesy and predictable. I like Becky Fleck but couldn’t they find a Canadian to design this collection? I know she is from Montana but she isn’t Canadian and there are subtleties to our culture. Thoughts?

it's way too cute!!! (and that's not a compliment... lol. It's 'cute' but not in a good way.) I'm not from Canada, but I agree with you that perhaps they could have done more with it than the stereotypical overdone moose, beaver, use of 'eh?' etc.
Couldn't they have at least added a few Native American (First Peoples- is that the term??) type patterns, or patterns besides plaid? And Canada has other seasons besides winter, right?? And some large cities? it's not all woods and moose, is it??
Maybe I'm just extra-testy today, as it seems everything is rubbing me the wrong way at the moment.

It’s all stereotypes. Good for people travelling to Canada on vacation, maybe, but not relevant to my life as a Canadian.

I'm okay with it. I can use it for different activities besides Canada Day. It will go well with the dgs's Team Canada hockey jerseys.

What types of papers do you want? What do you think is missing? I love the buffalo plaid especially with the Olympic uniforms this year.

I don’t really get what a Canadian would use that for. I know I would have no use for an ‘I’m an American’ line with cartoon bald eagles and Uncle Sams.

as an American who visited Canada for the first time this summer - I'll buy pieces of it for the trip album - but yeah I can see that it's about as relevant to every day life in Canada as most Patriotic lines are for American every day life

The other lines for winter with moose looked quite similar. I am pretty sure if they made state specific paper, my state would be filled with weed! I did love the moose with the Canadian flag. It was a really cute stereotype.

It's okay I guess. As a Canadian I wouldn't buy it and see it as a marketable product for Americans who have visited.

We've been to Canada several times on vacation and I can assure you that I will NOT be buying this kit . I think it's not a good portrayal (at ALL) of anything Canadian that we experienced...except maybe Souvenir City in Niagara Falls . This was a theme that had so much potential but turned into and epic fail (IMHO).

It's overly cutesy. But I've found that about most of Photoplay's collections. I recently pulled a few collection packs from them and honestly can't remember why I bought them. I find the papers dull and difficult to use. Stickers are sort of an odd mix. Lesson learned.

^^^ I agree with you, looking at their recent collections on their website. But I remember when I first saw their stuff, I really, really liked the look of it. It's too bad; the industry NEEDS different companies with different aesthetics to compete with the American Crafts behemoth, and I personally feel like there isn't enough 'mature' or 'sophisticated' (for want of a better word) product out there for the different types of 'themed' scrappers. Either stuff is overly cutesy, or it's overly-distressed / 'vintage', or it's hipster-modern, or it's very Victorian-elegant (G45)... there doesn't seem to be much out there at all that's a happy medium. (and again, I'm talking about themed materials)

I'll be the oddball here and stick my neck out. I like it!
It's colorful and would be perfect for pics of our yearly visits to see family in Quebec when DH was alive. The B sides are great too. I love the buffalo plaid and would get several sheets of that.

I like it too MDscrapaholic! I'll purchase quite a bit of it. That moose with the flag? He's too cute, I really like him. I like the buffalo plaid as well. I think this will be perfect for the multiple trips we've taken to various parts of Canada.

It's okay I guess. As a Canadian I wouldn't buy it and see it as a marketable product for Americans who have visited. I have it on order. Will add it to my small stash set aside for scrapping Canada Day activities. As I mentioned, with it being an Olympic year, many of the dgk's are sporting some Team Canada gear for their everyday activities and this line will work for that. Just last weekend, my dd and family attended a Maple sugaring off festival in Ontario, so those syrup jugs may get some use for those photos as well. And as Canadians heading down to the US on vacation this coming summer, I suspect that some will be sporting the maple leaf on Tee's and backpacks, so I may be able to use some of this to mix in with the Disney pages.

I agree, I don’t think people who live in Canada are their target market. I live othe US, and I dint buy any of the patriotic USA paper unless I am scrapping the 4th of July, and really not even then. I am pretty sure they expect people who are visiting Canada to buy that paper, not actual people lucky enough to live there.

I love the HOME where the O is a heart with a maple leaf. I like the True North (little itty bitty sticker) and could see using it on a winter outdoor layout. I can't see using any of the rest of it unless I used some of the flag stuff to make a Canada Day layout or to province stickers and Canada map if we went on a cross country journey. it's way too cute!!! Maybe I'm just extra-testy today, as it seems everything is rubbing me the wrong way at the moment. First Nations. Or to be fully inclusive it's First Nations Metis Inuit. FNMI acronym. I live in a rural area and it's woods and herds of elk (farmland and oil patch) and it's been winter since October and still going and I wouldn't use any of this. I don’t really get what a Canadian would use that for. I know I would have no use for an ‘I’m an American’ line with cartoon bald eagles and Uncle Sams. It says I am Canadian not I'm a Canadian. Big difference, if the creator was smart. It's from a 20 year old tv commercial that was a big deal and people loved. I would cover up the what's your super power and use the top part.

I'm a Canadian and I ordered the collection pack and the stamp set. I think the beaver, the moose, and the toques are cute. I have a beaver dam story from when I was a kid that I could scrap. I saw a moose on my drive to work this week. Unfortunately, I did not get a pic. I might use the stamps for Christmas cards to friends/relatives who live out of the country. I could use the paper for Canada Day or parade layouts. I will not be using the "Eh" stamps and stickers. That is one stereotype I would be happy to see die.
