Sure thing!
They are not only concerned with the hacking and passwords, but a lot of people use the same passwords for other accounts. So....change your passwords.

AND DON'T REUSE PASSWORDS BETWEEN SITES!!!!!! I know that's a good idea, but there it's just no way that is feasible for me with the number of sites I have to use that have passwords that require numbers, letters, a capital letter, a special character, change it every few months, etc. I would never be able to remember them.

The link gives good recommendations and explanations about why password managers are critical.

How is that any more secure than these sites that get hacked? I do understand why it's important but I don't trust having a password manager on my phone.

Here is a lot of explanation about why password managers are secure. This is for one in particular - the one I personally use - but the other leading password managers are similar in terms of security. I'm not a security and encryption expert but I work with people who are and every last one of them uses a password manager. It's far far far safer than trying to remember passwords, reusing them across sites, writing them down, using Notes or a spreadsheet or any of the other common things people mention here for keeping track of passwords.

Has the manager ever once not worked? I've used one for about 4-5 years, and it has always worked. I can't remember anything, LOL. It's the only way I can keep my passwords straight and secure. I always have strong passwords.

The good news for me is that I have been using the program long enough that my password was very old! It was much shorter than anything I used in the last few years. I did change it to something longer and more complicated.

I had my password hacked somewhere a few years ago and at that point I used the same password on multiple sites. I woke up to them getting into multiple shopping sites and changing the passwords on me. It was a nightmare to get straightened out. Since then, I'm militant about passwords being unique, long and complex. (Drives my kids nuts when they need the Netflix password...but they'll get over it.

I have a base word that I call "the usual" when I write it down. So I'll write "the usual plus 123" or "the usual with first letter capitalized"...etc.

Received an email from MFP about the breach and changed passwords. Out of curiosity, how safe are password managers? Aren't their sites susceptible to breaches as well?

I don't have a password for mine, I log in through Facebook. Is there anything I need to do? I don't see anywhere I can change a password.

I can't even find how to change the password. I guess you have to get on a computer to do that? How incredibly annoying. I just started using it again after two years and it gets hacked.
I noticed that my password is an old one that I don't use for any important accounts, so I think I'm safe in that regard.

Received an email from MFP about the breach and changed passwords. Out of curiosity, how safe are password managers? Aren't their sites susceptible to breaches as well? In theory, sure, their servers could be breached. However all of the decent password managers are end-to-end encrypted which means that any data that was accessed in a breach would be encrypted and could only be decrypted with the personal key of each user - which is tied to their physical devices and not stored anywhere online. As a result, the data would be useless. You can learn more about security and password managers at a link I shared earlier in the thread.

Has the manager ever once not worked? I’ve used 1Password many times a day since 2009 and no, it’s never not worked.
