My cancer marker number has more than doubled since my last visit even though my recent scan showed that there was no spread or growth of the cancer. I am still getting my chemo today because my doctor said “we treat by the scan, not by the number.” I would be lying if I said this didn’t freak me out. My next scan is scheduled for May 14th.
I am so afraid something is spreading in a way the scan is not picking up on.
Thanks for your prayers and positive thoughts!

I can understand your fear.
I know that I've read that cancer marker numbers are not always reliable, that they can be less accurate than you'd think. I don't know if there's anything else that can cause them to go awry?
There's a woman on my Facebook support group for Esophageal Cancer patients and caregivers who often reminds us of what her husband would say - "it's nothing until it's something" - doesn't always take away the fears, but maybe a reminder that it may not be significant at this time?
You are in my thoughts.

Oh donna. Sending positive vibes your way. The chemo will hopefully help drive those markers down. I know it's hard. Try to believe. (((((HUGS)))))

Hugs, donna! I would be scared too. Here’s hoping that the scan is correct and the test that resulted in the marker was wonky somehow this time. You are in my prayers.

Big ((((hugs)))) donna and positive vibes coming your way from the other side of the pond. I hope your scan will give you more positive results than the markers have. Is there a chance that they could do the next scan sooner to put your mind at rest?

Lots of positive thoughts and good wishes sent your way Donna! If they treat based on scans, not blood markers, there's a reason for that, right? Like, they treat for what is known and not what is a maybe because it may not come to pass?

Prayers for you here, too. I get a CA125 done every year and I know I would be upset if the numbers were abnormal, even though I know the results aren't 100% reliable. I feel for you. Hope it doesn't take over your thoughts too much, and you can think about other things. Keep up the fight.
