I have been scrapbooking since the 90's and was so happy when I found the CTMH page protectors because they were thick and roomy. I made my daughter's first album in 2008 and now the page protectors have yellowed. Not happy that I am going to have to take it apart, will have to use a different album and page protectors since the CTMH album was postbound. I thought maybe it was a bad batch but I looked at some other CTMH page protectors I have and they are yellowing too.

Oh man. That is a dirty shame. I've never used their products before so I can't offer up any kind of advice. Was there ever any sort of guarantee that they were non yellowing page protectors? Since they are still in business I wonder if they would do anything for you?

I still have some of their albums and page protectors I haven't even used yet, but I am more concerned about my albums lasting than the money I have lost. And now I will have to go on the hunt again for the best (for me) albums and page protectors.

Hmmm.. I have some albums & page protectors that I bought from CTMH even earlier, starting in 2002, I think. I haven’t noticed any yellowing yet. Are yours stored in a dry place, away from light & humidity? Also, I think their page protectors are pretty standard. WRmK post bound ones ones might fit?

Wow, that really sucks. Can you contact the company? Maybe it was a bad batch and they’ll replace them.

Are yours stored in a dry place, away from light & humidity? Yes, ironically that album has been kept in an acid free photo safe box I bought specially for it while my old CM albums I made back in the 90's and have been well handled have held up.

That is really strange.
I started scrapbooking in 1996. I switched to Close to My Heart Albums and page protectors at least by 1999. I pulled two CTMH albums at random, neither of which have yellowed. I also have page protectors and albums that I have not yet used. I have not checked them, but I will try to remember to chck them tomorrow, as well as check my other CTMH albums.
The page protectors that I checked all had "Close to My Heart" printed in red on them. I can't remember if later ones continued to have that. It will be another thing for me to check.

That’s so frustrating. I’ve never used their products so can’t really comment but hope you find a solution.

I went through ALL of my Close to My Heart albums and protectors today. They go back to at least 1999. The older ones have their name imprinted on the inside edge in red, the later ones are clear but still imprinted with Close to My Heart on them, so it is easy to be sure they really are the CTMH brand.
None of mine have yellowed. Not a single one. I have bought them at different times. I would think that if there were a bad batch, that maybe some of them would have yellowed, even if they didn't all do that. They are all fine.
Since you kept yours in a box, even though it was supposed to be photo safe and acid free, I suspect that the box was the cause of the yellowing. I would be more inclined to trust CTMH than whoever made the box you stored the album in.
Just for the record, I am not a rep for them, never have been, never will be. I no longer buy their products, but I stocked up and have enough albums to last me for years. I am not concerned about either the albums or the page protectors yellowing.

I gotta agree that the cause was likely the box you kept the album in. I used to use CTMH albums and don't have any yellowing and they date back over 10+ years. The only reason I switched was because I wanted the ease of D-ring albums.

I wonder about the box too. I have CTMH albums from early 2000s and the page protectors have not yellowed. But either way, I think you should contact CTMH about the page protectors and ask for replacements. I would think they'd want to work with you since they stand behind their products.

You don’t have to answer directly if you don’t want to but some other factors to consider are does anyone in your house smoke? What type of paper are the pages made with? Do the pages involve non-archival items such as newspaper, wood embellishments, etc? What is the box made of?

My albums date back over 10 years old as well, and no yellowing.

No smoking, I didn't do lumpy or non acid free/archival in that album, in fact I have handled it with kid gloves. The box I bought because it was archival. So I am stumped because I seem to be the only one having that problem.
