OK. Time to 'fess up. I'm normally pretty current on scrapping - but haven't even started 2018.
Why?
I don't have a new 12x12. I do have a new 9x12 teal faux-leather (bought in an SC sale), but ALL my other albums are 12x12 AC fabric albums - one per year. I love the idea of a 9x12, but now that it's time to start the new year in the new album I'm stalling. I don't think I have enough protectors. I don't know if I want to buy more at crazy prices. I don't know if it'll look weird on the shelf w/all the other 12x12 AC fabric albums.
What's your advice?
1. Just flippin' do it! 2. Use it for something else and get another 12x12 and get started! 3. Something else?

I would try a few 9x 12" LO's. If you get used to them, then you can keep going with this album. If not, you can always put the 9x12" pages in a 12x12" album, kind of mix it up. You don't need a 12x12" album immediately if you have a place you can stack your pages until you get one.
You may need to adjust how you think about the process. I started out with 8 1/2" pages and treated the whole two page spread as one LO. When I switched to the 12x12's I was a little overwhelmed by the larger size, and for a while did single page LO's only. Now I tend to do coordinated facing pages in 12x12. This past summer I did a whole album in 8 1/2 x 11" and found it easy to get back into that size after a couple of pages, but I really had to think about the whole two page canvas again.

#2 But I don't like the 9x12 size and I want all my albums to be the same.

If you have to ask and you’re stalled, it probably means you’re not excited about the size and should stick with 12x12 and use the 9x12 for another project. Maybe by doing the other project you’ll either get excited about 9x12 (and can switch for next year) or you’ll decide it’s not for you.

#1. Try it out and see what you think. If it works for you then spend the money on albums and page protectors. I’m changing to 8.5 x 11 and will be buying a new album. I don’t really care if it matches the others. I’m embracing the eclectic look LOL.

i say 2. but don't worry about the album yet. just get started. you can always use a box to hold your completed pages until you get a new coordinating album.

#2. Perhaps you can use the smaller album for a vacation. I'd go 12 x 12 and KEEP going. You aren't even behind going by scrapping standards. You are more of a tiny hiccup away from being current.

Then just intersperse some 9x12 in there. Maybe by the next sale you can figure out if you want to fully embrace 9x12

#2. If you're second guessing your decision on size then maybe it's not the right size for this project. Get a 12x12 and get started.

You guys are brilliant. I didn't think about just using the 9x12 pages in a 12x12 album (which is stupid of me cuz I do 6x12 in there all the time) So I'm going to start using the 9x12 pages and pocket pages and then see how it goes. I have a feeling I'm going to be on Amazon in the next few days buying a 12x12 album to put the 9x12s in. I'm such a weirdo about coordinating the albums.
But if I need to get new pages for the 9x12 album some other time, I will do that and use it for another project.
Thanks!!
ETA: I can finally stop making cards as a stalling tactic, organizing drawers, and remodeling old pages. Can't wait to get started scrapping new stories again. Thanks again!

#2. I felt the same way about 6x8s. I just had to try that size, and I really like it too. But I had the good sense to use it for a special project, not in place of my annual 12x12 family album.
By the way, other than collecting photos and a few ticket stubs, I haven't started scrapping 2018 either. That's next year's project!

Your brain's stuck in the but-but-but zone. It's lost in between the sizes, not capable to move on and try 9x12 or continue 12x12 as long as you haven't made a decision on an album which is not a necessity to make layouts. I say, try a 9x12 and a 12x12 with fresh photos (like Easter). Don't give your brain time to think or to drift away in the memory. Just head first into the creation process. You'll get unstuck and have a clearer idea on which size to use for the future. ETA: Don't let a "different" look keep you away from trying a new size. I've learned to embraced the mix of album sizes I have. It's the library of my life and in true literary girl at heart fashion, I do not organise my reading material in a visual manner (by colour or spine height) but by category and year of publication of an author's first published book (I know, it's a particular system #chronologicalgirlatheart #understandingwhereabookfitsinthegrandhistoricalschemeofthings). My albums tell a similar story and I don't mind them being different for that reason.
