Tuesday April 10th is Ben and Jerry's free cone day. Since B&J started here in Burlington, we have been having free cone day for a lot of years. You can always tell when it is free cone day even if you didn't hear about it prior to the day because of the LONG lines at their shops. Sometime there can be a two hour wait. There was an article in our paper about this and it asked what other things would you stand in long lines for? I have stood in line for a cone, but I do not think I would wait for two hours. I have waited in line for hours and even slept out overnight to get concert tickets. I have waited in line for an hour plus to get some beer. But truthfully these days there are not many things that immediately come to mind where I would be willing to wait in long lines like that anymore. I am not a Black Friday shopper at all. Are you willing to wait in long lines and if so for what types of things or events?

I waited in line to get a book signed. I have waited in line for a store to open (Black Friday). I would not wait two hours for an ice cream cone no matter how good the ice cream was.

I waited two hours in line in 90 degree weather for a wine slush at a festival only to be told the machine broke... oddly enough they had 4 machines and they alllll broke. I didnt believe it.
concert tickets
camped out for Black Friday overnight (once in the snow) many times.
Waited in a long line for 3hrs for the midnight release of Twilight (lol don't judge me) it was a special DVD pack that I "needed" 🙄

I waited in a line to buy a cabbage patch doll and concert tickets. These days, there really isn't much I'd wait for, and luckily, I don't really have to. (My first world privilege is showing ). I always feel so bad when I see the people lined up for food and water after a disaster.

I've waited in amusement park ride lines. I've waited to check out on black friday (only once did I wait to enter a store and it wasn't a very long wait)
I would not wait for an ice cream cone that I could get any other day for what, $5?

I camped out on the streets of NYC from 3 am in lounge chairs with my daughter at age 16 because she wanted Sting tickets.
These days, I would stand in line for Springsteen tickets.

Black Friday, at the cashier. Other than that, Nothing anymore, I won't even wait in line for food. We go the next place that is wait free.
Our son made waiting in lines impossible. It is one of the few things that shows that he is on the spectrum.

I feel that I am a pretty patient person but I can't think of anything in particular that I would wait in a long line for.
I have waited for quite awhile to get a table at a restaurant but, I don't think that is what you are asking.

Amusement park rides and a great spot in the sandbar area at a Kenny concert! Anything else and I'm coming back at a better time!

I am curious about anything really, including getting a table. 30 to 40 minutes tops is what I would wait for a table unless there was some special circumstance. And if i was packed into one little area to wait, I would seriously think about that. Now if you give me a beeper and let me go outside I would be more willing to wait a bit.

I hate waiting in line and I would say 25% of my marital fights have occurred because dh wanted to wait in line for a restaurant/store item/freebie and I didn’t.
The only thing I wait for is when my kids really want to do something and a line is the only way to do it. Statue of Liberty, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, the cable cars in SF—I hate every minute of being in line, but I do it.

I don't think there's much worth waiting in line these days, HOWEVER:
- Back in the 80s, we would wait in line at Ticketmaster to buy concert tickets, for hours. - The first time I went to Disneyland was Christmas of 1977. 3 hour lines for Small World. No such thing as fast passes or maxx passes back then.

Some things I've waited in line for: -- tickets for opening day baseball back when the Pittsburgh Pirates were great (i.e., Roberto Clemente's era) -- concert tickets back before there was such a thing as the internet -- I slept overnight on the plaza at the Kennedy Center for free tickets to participate in the singalong of the "Messiah" -- to get into the underground viewing area at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem -- to get a book signed These days all tickets can be bought online (probably even those free Kennedy Center ones although I haven't been to that event in years). The Church of the Nativity was just last month so that's pretty recent. I'd wait in line again to get a book signed if it was an author I really liked. If I had to wait in line for concert tickets it would only be for a very few singers/groups -- Bruce Springsteen, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Aicha Kone are the only ones who immediately come to my mind. I like other singers of course but none enough to stand in line for tickets since I'm not really a concert going kind of person. lol. (too many people, too much noise). Oh, and I'd wait in line for however many days I needed to if it meant I was waiting to meeting President Obama or Michelle Obama.

I waited in line, for hours in the cold, back in the late 80s for New Kids on the Block tickets for our daughter and a friend for Christmas. It was worth the frostbite to see her face!
I have waited in line at Disney World more times than I care to remember!

Ok, I have been a couple of times now so I can give a real opinion... The first time I went was in November and it was crazy, crazy busy. Everyone in the store was elbow to elbow, and it was all white women ages 30-and up. If you had asked me if I would go back after the first time, I would have said not if I could help it. Its like a grown ups version of Disney. Food trucks, vendors, every where you look they are selling something. And people everywhere. I waited in line 30 min for cupcakes and another hour to buy living room stuff. However, I have been back twice since November and it has not been near as crowded (I guess because it isn't Christmas season?). Both times were unplanned, last minuet side trips on the way home from Louisiana. Neither time did I wait anywhere more than maybe 5 minuets. Yes, things are somewhat pricey in the store - but I love designing so I am always inspired once I leave. I would go back. And I will keep buying from them. I won't go back anywhere near Christmas. Overnight for tickets to an amazing haunted house in Austin, when I was in high school. I had to leave to take a test in the am but boyfriend was able to stay. Run by the guy who was big in software games at the time. Best haunted house ever.Overnight at Ticketmaster for concert tickets to see *NSYNC when I was in my 20s. Front row, totally worth it. Of course, we've traveled for different concerts too. From San Antonio we've driven to Austin, Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Biloxi and a couple of places in Florida. Mostly in our 20s and 30s. Still do occasionally, but mostly for theater now. Spurs basketball tickets when they made the finals in 99. They won in New York in Game 5 so we didn't get to use our partially blocked view tickets to games 6 & 7. Even better. Hours upon hours for lots of movie openings like Matrix 1 and 2, the original X-Men, Star Wars, and many times for Harry Potter. I love Fandango. Of course an hour or two for big rides at different amusement parks. When I went by myself to AstroWorld (that dates me ) I took a paperback book. eta: Have also waited in hours long lines at popular tourist attractions like The Empire State Building and The Sears Tower. Of course I'd prefer not to, but I'm willing to do it for the experience, even now. Now? I like reservations. If we don't have them I'll wait up to about 45 minutes for a decent restaurant, by the time we get in our car and drive somewhere else and wait in their 20 minute line we won't have saved much time and we won't get the food we were jonesing for in the first place. For a $5 ice cream cone I can get any other day? Nah.

I've stood in line for concert tickets, and for book signings. However, I don't do either much any more - I belong to the local arena's club so I can usually buy tickets in advance of the on sale date, and I have cut down on buying books for school and getting them autographed.

Back in the day I waited hours for Garth Brooks tickets. Now I don’t or can’t stand for long periods of time (scoliosis) so no long lines for me.

I stood in line for about 3.5 hours to ride Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom and it was worth every second. I waited in line for 2 hours to meet Aerosmith and get my book signed. Also worth it! other than those two things....not a lot!

I'm from a small town and if there is more than 2 people in front of me at the grocery store or bank I think it's a long line that will never end. More than five minutes is too long for anything. Airports are the only places I go to with lines or am willing to be in line for. A free ice cream cone, no way. And I love ice cream.
We waited 1 hour 15 mins to meet Tinkerbell in Disneyland. We were told if the line was at the tree it was an hour and we looked everyday and it was finally we had to do it.

I've waited in lines at Disney, like everyone else.
The only other thing I can think of are the Santa Bears that Dayton's, then Marshall Fields sold. I did it every year for my mother. It was awful. Now you can't give them away!
