A natural redhead in childhood, became auburn as I grew older then colored my hair brown when I started getting grey in my 40's...burn easily in the sun but love the sun, sensitive to anesthesia, low tolerance for pain meds unless I really need it, have some allergies but I don't think it has much to do with being a redhead. Wish I had enjoyed my auburn color more longer if I wasn't going grey! My eyebrows are still naturally red so I can still hang on to the natural color a little!

I'm a natural redhead, so is my Mom and my younger sis. I'm freckled, burn easily, and have sensitive skin. Not really allergic to anything. Haven't had surgery, so not sure about the general anesthesia issue, though I did fine with the normal IV sedation with an endoscopy a while back. However, I had a horrible case of poison ivy years ago, and the MD prescribed a bunch of stuff, including a med to help with the itching. Did nothing.... I went back and she looked it up in the PDR which said that rarely, some patients will need a higher than recommended dose to be effective. She upped the dose and within an hour I could tell a big difference. Didn't think about the redhead thing, but I'll bet that's why!
My fairly bright red hair has faded to a nice, even strawberry blonde tone. While I'd love to have the red back (I'm 62) I'm happy that I don't have to worry about covering up grey hair. My Mom faded to a pretty, clear white, never did go grey.
Oh and one more thing, my sis and I are rarely bothered by mosquitoes, even when others are being bitten. Redhead thing? Or maybe we're just not appetizing! And the three of us, Mom, Sis and I, are pretty laid back. I think the redhead temper thing is a myth, everybody loses their cool now and then, and I've know a lot of hot tempered folks without red hair!
Had ds with just a shot of IV pain meds, nothing strong, so I have a pretty high pain threshold. Don't have a bleeding problem.

Blue eyed, big time freckled red head. :-) I'm a light weight for both pain meds and alcohol. The one time I've been put under, the anesthetist did make adjustments.
I have about a 15 minute sun threshold, even with good sunscreen. I don't regulate my own temperature well in heat.
I'm allergic to life. Seriously. Dairy, chocolate, oats, wheat, and every kind of pollen that blooms around Portland Oregon. Lol
My son was born a red head, but it all fell out and came back brown. Not even red highlights! He has all of the same allergies, but doesn't burn or freckle.

Does it count if it was red before it went gray? Green eyes, very fair skin. Very high pain tolerance and very low pain med tolerance. And if you push me far enough you will see that the temper myth is not a myth after all.

I am a full redhead with a full head of red red hair. And I'm 40. I have a few freckles but not a lot on my arms. I also have blue eyes.
I am very sensitive to medications and it takes a lot to knock me out, but I do have a pretty high pain tolerance. I am also a bleeder but that bleeding disorder runs on my mom's side of the family. (the scottish side) There was an article about it I posted here a while back, Ten facts about redheads. I'll have to see if I can find it. It was pretty accurate.

I think I have a high tolerance for pain, until I don't, if that makes sense. I think this is me. I'm a blue-eyed, freckled red head. Never really thought about it, but then again I'm in pain most days. Don't know about the anesthesia but I know Vicodin only makes me nauseous without the pain relief so I have to take a higher level narcotic. I am much less sensitive to cold than most people and probably about equal on hot.

I'm a redhead, green eyes, fair skin, can't take the sun at all but don't know about surgery because I've never had any. Both older sisters were red head and one continues to be one now at the age of 72. Our Dad carried the redhead gene for us. I'm sensitive to nickel also and rarely wear jewelry. Medications don't seem to bother me. Don't have the typical temper of a redhead but you will definitely know when I have had enough.

I want to know the statistics on natural redheads who dye their hair a different color than a shade of red!!! I honestly feel that being a redhead is so intrinsic to me, I cannot imagine anything else.

I am a natural redhead although my hair has gotten lighter with age. My husband swears I am blonde but he's the only one. I don't know what his deal is. I have green eyes, sunburn easily, and have lots of freckles. Just last year I started getting white hair in a few places near my ears. I've always loved my red hair and will be sad when it completely changes. I believe I have a very high tolerance for pain and don't seem to be allergic to much of anything.

For those of you sensitive to metal- can you wear eye shadow? I'm having difficulties finding eye shadow to wear because I think I am allergic to the metals or mica. I tried Urban Decay nude palette today, and I think I feel an irritation coming on....
I also am sensitive to laundry detergent/fragrances and use Tide free and gentle and Downy scent-free fabric softener.

However I remember wearing eye shadow as a teenager into my 20's and didn't have any problems. My face is breaking out today and I have no idea why? Good luck finding something.

My hair is kind of a reddish brown, particularly if I've been in the sun. Or at least I think I remember it was. It's been a couple of decades since I've seen my natural color. Fair skin, green eyes.
I have a high tolerance for pain, but don't seem to have any problem with anesthesia or pain meds except I vomited with both my epidural and my spinal (2 c-sections). I think a lot of people do that, though. I do seem to be allergic to everything under the sun including my gold wedding ring. Burn easily.

Interesting the allergic to medicine redheads! My redheaded DD is allergic to several antibiotics, making it worrisome since she is just barely 16. Right now she has an infected cut on her toe and is on a high level antibiotic (macro bid maybe? I forget) because she is allergic to the less powerful stuff, like penicillin and azithromycin. But if it doesn't clear...what is left to try?! It makes me nervous!
Not a redhead, but have a redhead mother and a redheaded daughter, and I am severly allergic to every metal, interesting others are.

yup I don't like wearing make-up it irritates my face and I've tried lots of them too. I just don't wear it. My mom used to give me mascara or eye liner if we're taking photos or a special occasion but I don't have it on very long. It's never been a thing for me.

Light auburn with lots of gray now but it is not very noticable as it blends well, light gray eyes and very fair, but have black eyebrows and eyelashes. My father had red hair and my mother's hair was black. Had freckles in my youth but they have faded. Very sensitive to the sun, get a rash which is much worse if I use sunblock. I have to cover up if I am going outside for more than fifteen minutes. Bit inconvenient since I have lived in south Florida all my life.
I am very sensitive to pain medication and can only tolerate low doses and I did regain consciousnesses during anesthetic a few times and heard the doctors/nurses talking during the surgery, but did not really feel anything or just don't remember.
Have a few weird skin things, like I can't handle cardboard cartons or I get hive where they touch my skin. My sister who did not have red or auburn hair and has dark skin has terrible skin allergies and can not have contact with nickle, chromates or lanolin.
Also a "bleeder". I have a bleeding disorder, Von Willabrants(sp)a factor 8 deficiency, and have to have factor 8 infusions prior to any dental work or surgery to insure my blood clots. I have been known to bleed from a paper cut for 3 days. My grandmother had the same thing and she had red hair.

Yes! Soul less gingers! My redheaded DD is an atheist, and she loves to point out that duh, she has no soul. Obviously she is a sarcastic bitch like her non redheaded mother.

I could feel the pressure from the stitching me up and pushing on it. Just a lot of pressure. I could hear talking but that's all I remember. It took them a while for me to come out of that one, DH said they had a hard time bringing me out of it, I wondered if they had to give me more stuff. I can never remember that bleeding disorder, my mom and my grandma had it. If i cut my anything it bleeds like crazy. One time i had my head sewn with my hair but they had a heck of time stopping the blood. You would think with all my surgeries it would be an issue but I guess not as much.

Natural redhead here. Well, it's more orange than red so I like ginger better. lol
I am more sensitive to pain and require more anesthesia and pain meds. I'm also very sensitive to perfume in soaps and lotions.
I don't know if being a red head had anything to do with it, but my labors were always super quick and (strangely) didn't hurt. And, I never carried to full term. My sister, who is also a redhead, had the same experience.

I'm a redhead, auburn shade. I don't know if I tolerate pain more than others. Like another poster, I'm sensitive to sunlight and wear sunglasses most times when I'm outside.

Another natural red head here! Green eyes, very fair with freckles and moles (yuck). I am very sensitive to the sun and stay out whenever I can. My mother, grandmother, aunts and most women on my mom's side were all redheaded and several had skin cancer. My grandmother was disfigured by surgeries for basil cell carcinomas and my mother passed away in 1985 from malignant melanoma. Scares me to death especially for my 2 redheaded sons.
I am sensitive to perfumes and can only wear a few. Have to have more pain meds than most but I'm very tolerant of pain and can take a lot. Until I can't. I have to wear sunglasses even on a semi-cloudy day or I get a headache. I'm allergic to some strange meds. including penicillin, and ibuprofen.
Temper wise I'm fairly even tempered but when I do get worked up I'm REALLY worked up! I haven't gone gray as fast as a lot of my friends either! Just some around my ears and one temple. My mom had a "skunk stripe" on one side and I am getting the same on the same side too!
