Do you have one that you love? I'm in the market for a new one. The one I currently have is ok, but if you have to lay a sweater flat to dry, then I hate it. It has mesh fabric that you have to connect in 6 places with plastic knobs and a stretchy loop-and it is not easy.

Guess what. I had an old box fan and use the one side of the 'cover'. After the fan dies I took the side off.....

I have this one. It works well, but I'll confess, I usually just drape things over the bannister around the stairs. I have room for 8 shirts, and generally dry them until they aren't heavy, then hang them to complete drying. I do the delicate items in the evening and by morning, they are dry enough to hang. That way my house doesn't look like a laundromat! In the last house, I had sheers over the windows in the laundry room. I would just use a clothes pin to hang laundry right on the curtain. It got a lot of air movement and faced the back of the house, so no one could see I had clothes drying. Our current house has laundry in a closet, so I put clothes pins up with command strips and will have some things from there.

I have an old wooden one that I quite like. I saw a really cool one at Muji on the weekend (it's a Japanese chain that sells things without brand names on them.) I thought it was very cool. I bought a different one as we hang up a lot of our clothing and it does nothing but frustrate me. On the sucking scale I would say it's pretty high. The wooden one is definitely better. I got it at a store downtown and it doesn't have a name per se.

Mine's no good for things things that need to dry flat. It has 3 arms designed for hangers and I love it but it has limitations. I throw sheets over the top and drape towels over 2 arms.

When our extremely large dog crate was up, I used the top of that. We have taken it down and I usually use the shower curtain rack or the door in the bathroom.
My DD has one of the wooden accordion. She seems to think it works for her sweaters and such. I just grabbed one from Home Goods. I can't tell you if it is any good or not as it is still wrapped in plastic. I just haven't needed it lately.

I have one like you describe, but I just leave the mesh on all the time, so it’s not a PITA. Why do you have to take the mesh off and on all the time?

My mesh fabric always stays on.

Sometimes I need to dry more than 1 sweater (I live in MN and we had a blizzard over the weekend. Sadly in April, I still can't pack my sweaters away!). Sometimes I need to hang 10 bras to dry and I need the mesh removed to do that. First world problem for sure. Thanks ladies!

I don’t lay my sweaters flat to dry, I have way too many for that! I just drape them over one time on the clothes racks me they’re always fine. As long as they’re stretched and pulled to the correct shape when I drape them they’re good. Once dry, I hang them in the closet.

I have a wall mounted one from Ikea. It can be folded down when I'm not using it. I love it.
