What generic/knockoff items have you found that are just as good if not better?

i've never found Kirkland products to be any less quality than the brand. there are those who say that Kirkland is just brand in sheeps clothing. fine with me!

most Aldi's stuff that I've tried is just as good as or better than the brand-name.

I love Kirkland's Pesto. I never found a jarred pesto that I liked until I tried this. I also like that it's nice and thick so you can use it like that or thin it out with a little more olive oil if you need to.
I also love the Roundy's brand homestyle chicken noodle soup. Way better than Campbells. I'm worried that it will be discontinued now that Kroger's has bought the Roundy's brand.

All of these are HEB store brand products: their Diet Dr. B i find to be better than Diet Dr. Pepper. Also, the paper towels and toilet paper are all I use.

Sugar and flour are the same as is pasta. Not always. I think there is a difference between pure cane sugar and beet sugar. And you can feel the difference between flours. And seriously pasta is pasta! How do they screw it up? The Winco brand pasta doesn't cook well and no matter how much sauce I put on it I can't swallow it.

During allergy season Affrin Severe Sinus nose spray is my best friend. But damn it’s pricey, $12-14 for a 0.5 oz bottle. Last summer I was on a mission to find a better/cheaper solution. Targets Up and Up brand was the winner. A full ounce for only $5. And works just as well.

I use Winco brand canned foods and find them the same quality as a brand name--even better than some--and much cheaper.

I generally get generics/store brand for most things and notice no difference between them and brand name aside from a few things. For years my husband claimed he could tell a difference and generics were inferior... until I started putting most pantry things in plastic containers or jars and started switching things over and not saying anything and hiding the boxes. Did it for a few months to see if he would say something and he never did. When I finally told him he tried to fight it but eventually admitted he never noticed the switch. I've been happy with most Aldi's products even though based on container/bottle/wrapper shape many of the store brand products look suspiciously similar to name brands. And Members Mark has some good stuff too, we've been very happy with their paper products and kitchen trash bags.

The chocolate/mint cookies and coconut/caramel cookies at Aldi's are just as good as Girl Scout thin mint and samoas. My girls and I did an experiement. We bought both and did a blind taste test. We either couldn't tell the difference or both brands were just as good as the other. Don't tell anyone that I'm a Brownie Leader!

I think almost anything Kirkland brand stands up to brand name. Most Wegmans brand items also make the cut. DH will tell you that Sams Choice and Safeway versions of Velveeta will not do for his Superbowl dip. LOL

Many are brand products just repackaged for the stores, are they not? One of my cousins worked at the Tree Top apple juice factory - he said the buzzer would sound, the machines would stop, and all they did was change the Tree Top Label to a plain blue label. Not sure how many brands do this - and it's a shame I don't drink apple juice.

Speaking of brand name sold under store labels... I started buying the little plastic style Dixie cups for my kids bathroom since the paper ones weren't holding up for more than one use. Last time I needed some I picked up the Up + Up at target... when I got home I realized that they even had the solo name formed into the bottoms of the cup so there was my answer.

One thing I won't buy is off brand canned tomatoes. It seems like there is red dye in them. Vibrant red! Turns every thing red. My crock pot is black and it turns red if I use Winco or first street tomatoes.

I don't buy it often but you know the chili sauce that you buy to make those crockpot cocktail meatballs? I actually prefer the store brand (Kroger) over the named brands

I do like western family chili and spaghetto's
We do like spam once in while, I always buy that a grocery store. I think discount grocers get the rejects. I have gotten almost all fat cans of spam at places like big lots or grocery discount.

The same thing happens and it becomes Kroger and other store brands. No difference in the cheese at all.

Kirkland Vodka - it's comparable to sky for a fraction of the cost, bonus (at least for anyone in MI) is that due to state liquor regulations, a Costco membership is not needed to buy alcohol.

a horrible knock off was a cleaning spray with bleach that i bought at the Dollar Tree. i was cleaning my bathroom with it for the first time and i put the spray bottle down on my counter for just a few seconds. there was some liquid from the nozzle that dribbled down to the counter. when i wiped it away, the liquid had etched a ring around where the bottle was!! it was that strong. i couldn't wipe it away. it had damaged my counter in a few seconds! never again with liquid cleaning products from the Dollar Tree.
