I decided to try out a few gelatos ( black, butterscotch, chocolate and white) and so far I like them but I’m on the fence as to whether I want to buy more. Do you use them, and why or why not? How do you to seal them? What pens will write over them? In other words, ENABLE me (as if I really need a reason to shop more)!

I bought some, but I haven't tried them yet. They're basically just pigment sticks, right? So if water is your medium, you get a watercolor painting, and if acrylic is your medium, you'd get the (sealed) stability of an acrylic surface. Either way, the effect would be translucent. Vicky P writes and draws over her acrylic pages with Faber-Castell Pitt india ink markers. If you want to be enabled, check out her art journal pages. Vicky P on YouTube

I really love them!! I use them in so many ways...
You can color them on plastic and add water to do the packaging technique or use a paintbrush to use them like watercolors., you can color and add water right to your page. My favorite set is the metallics set....a nice shimmer to it and really pretty colors that are often hard to find in mists.
(Sorry to enable you!!! LOL)

I use mine all the time. I definitely grab these before watercolors. I use the faber-castell pitt markers over the top on aj pages, but I’ve just used a plain old sharpie on my scrapbook pages with them on it. Oh, i’ve used sharpie paint pens on them too.
Vicky P does have great videos

I’ve used them a few times but generally reach for my watercolour palette more.

I'll never get rid of my Gelatos. Or my water colors....or the prima crayons...or the mists...my prismas
I use them all, just depends on my mood. I love them all.

Well I got the pastel set at HL and I’m still on the fence. I liked when I applied then over gesso then applied tissue paper that I stamped myself. Looked very industrial. I didn't like them just smudged with my finger because they stayed greasy. I need to go back and seal that page. I do love that if I don’t like what I did it can be removed with a baby wipe!

I bought them and could never figure out how to use them properly, I hated them so much and it would make me angry that I could never get the same results or love for the product that everyone seemed to. I started using distress inks for water colouring cards and was much happier with those results, however......I discovered that if rub them in a small puddle of water rather then using them directly on the paper I get a product that I love and am happy with the results. I love mine now and would recommend them but I am not a messy, inky mixed media kinda girl so for me they are just a watercolour tool. A nice watercolour set would probably achieve the same results that I am after.
