I am considering buying one of the stamping platforms and I haven’t early don’t know anything about them. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the two? Does one do more than the other? Are the prices similar? Is there a best place to buy? thanks for all the input !!

They work in the same fashion. a piece of acrylic on top of a magnetic base. One is plastic hinge, Misti, and one is a metal & plastic, TH.
I had a Misti and TH. I HATED the misti I could never get it to work well at all for me. I bought the TH one shortly after it came on the market and LOVE it. It stamps well everytime and I have no magnet moving issues. I got mine the full size from Amazon (currently $30) Joanns has put it on sale for about $20 a few times recently with iNSD I'd bet it'll go on sale again soon.

I have a Mini Misti that my mom bought for me, and the Tim Holtz platform. I like the size of the Tim Holtz platform better, and the switchable plate for both cling and clear stamps. The price of the TH platform on sale is great, too!

I have the MISTI and, I have to say, that I love it.
I don't have any other brands - unlike many of the other peas, so I cannot compare ease of use etc.
at my monthly crop, the others have seen me use the MISTI, so they have purchased the same.

I tried the Tim Holtz one, and it does not stamp in all areas, no matter what I try. It is this way on both the clear and cling stamp sides. I bought one for my daughter and hers is the same way. I have the Misti in different sizes, and love it. I have not had any trouble stamping with the Misti at all.

I have a Tim Holtz platform that I use all the time. I never got a Misti because of the way the owner came to the board and completely turned me off to her brand.

I have tried the MISTI, the Hampton Art knock off, and the TH. The only one I can make work with any reliability is the Tim Holtz one. Many people have good luck with the MISTI. Like any other crafting tool, you have to compare what each can do and then decide. There is no "perfect" tool. I like the TH one because the magnets work better, I can stamp anywhere on a 12x12 layout, and I can use clear or cling stamps. I also think that any crafting tool takes practice. Once you pick the one you like you have to practice and play with different inks and papers until you really get the feel for it. Finally, I agree with others. The way MSP handles herself online left a sour taste in my mouth and I'm not interested in supporting her. I also think her press is way overpriced.

I have a misti, a TH platform and the stampin up stamparatus. I hate to admit it but the misti works the best. I would not buy one now though, if mine broke. I got a replacement TH platform and it is no better than the first one. It works okay for smaller stamps so I just use it for those. With bigger or solid stamps having an extra layer of foam helps but I hate having to do that. The stamparatus is fairly new and works fine but it feels like the magnets keep you from pressing down fully, so I have been using my thinner magnets. But everything I have stamped on it so far has stamped well. I've done solid stamps but haven't tackled big ones yet.

The regular size Misti will really only fit card sizes which works most of the time but it is a consideration. I am also having trouble with the Tim Holtz one not stamping large stamps well -- leaving some areas without a good impression. It is new, so I am going to give it a chance but it's a problem. Otherwise I like both of them.

I have the Tim Holtz stamp platform and love it. It works well for me, regardless of size of stamp.
I do have to use it on my solid wood table, though, not my plastic tables. The plastic tables have too much "give" when applying pressure, and a poor stamped image is my result if I forget and use the platform on the plastic tables.
I considered getting the MISTI once, but it was expensive, so I was saving up for it. I read the posts here by the owner/creator, and decided to wait, although seeing it everywhere at conventions made it tempting, in spite of the high price. I held out till the Tim Holtz version was available. I'm happy with that, although I would love to actually try a MISTI to see if I can understand why some people prefer it. It's just curiosity on my part. That is probably because after being married to a civil engineer for more than 40 years, he has rubbed off on me.

I have tried adding foam to it. It made no difference at all. I tried stamping out several Lawn Fawn stamps like I usually do on the Misti. There are so many spots on the Tim Holtz one that just do not stamp at all. I had to keep moving the stamps to areas where it would stamp, over and over again. I tried a background stamp and switched the top to the cling stamp side. It was the same thing. It would only stamp on some areas, no matter what I did. It was the same on the one I bought my daughter. The top is made really well on the Tim Holtz, but the bottom, in my opinion, and my opinion only, is that it is not made well. It is not as solid, and seems to “give” when you try to stamp. I watched videos using it, and tried stamping on solid surfaces, like my dining room table instead of my craft desk. I tried so many surfaces. It made no difference. I also tried the foam and that did not help either. Just really disappointed with this product. I know it works great for lots of other people. It just is not working well for me, or for my daughter. I know how to use it correctly. It just has so many areas that it will not stamp at all. I am sorry I bought it.

I have the Tim Holtz platform and I love it. It’s pretty sturdy and works really well. I will say that a couple of my large background stamps don’t do well on there so I use my large acrylic block. They don’t work with my Stampoholic platform either so it may be the size (4x6). I’ve never owned a MISTI so I can’t compare the two.

I have heard nothing but amazing things about their cs. If you purchased them together or from the same place, they could have been a bad batch. I don't have the problems you are describing with mine, although I haven't had a chance to spend a lot of time stamping lately. I won a mini misti and am excited to use it simply due to the size. Perfect for PL and I can also fit it into my work area (I am a piler) so much easier. I was going to get the travel stamp platform but you can't beat free.

So I think I've bought and tried them all. My favorite is the TH travel and the Stamp Easy (from the UK). On the original TH I've used a silicone mat (similar to what SU sells) with difficult stamps (bare rubber).

I made my own little DIY project when the MISTI was first out because I wouldn't support her. I liked mine. Then I went with the HA press and the WRMK positioner. I did just get the TH large one a few weeks ago. I used it a week ago and found it didn't really stamp in one spot. I should contact Tonic and see what they say.

I have a TH one, a Stampaholic mini and a Stampin' Up! Stamparatus. I prefer the TH and the Stamparatus, due their 2 open sides. And I just recently got the TH travel size one and it is adorable, and the perfect size to use at my table. No matter how big the table, there's never enough room on it.

I have an original TH platform that's still in the box. Can you tell me the name or describe more fully what a silicone mat is? I'm drawing a complete blank here. Is it like the Ranger Non-Stick Craft Sheet? I want to make sure I'm getting the right product. Sounds like I'm going to need one in order to make my stamps work in the Tim Holtz Platform.

Naby made hers with 2 acrylic album covers and a WRMK mini magnetic mat. I had that same mat AND several 8x10 acrylic sheets left over from a project quite a few years ago. All I had to buy was hinges at WM and made my own. I taped the mat to the bottom plate with mini Duck duct tape. Loved it so much, I found more magnetic mats and now have 3. Well, 4 counting the oddball invention I came up with so that I can use the round and rectangle bases from the Martha Stewart custom stamp setting kits in a stamp press. The only stamp press I was sorry I didn't get was the second version of the WRMK Precision Press that had the typeset plate. I finally gave up and made my own with the Martha Stewart sets. I already had several of the little alphabets that went with it. This way, I can make my own sentiments up and stamp several on labels or tags to put inside cards at a later time. I love the versions I've made so other than the one with the typeset plate, I've not even thought of buying any others, especially from the misti person.

That helps me to visulize what it is like so much better and the thickness needed. I'm so happy I came across this in the post and especially for you taking the time to answer my question. You too Galew. You saved me so much time and frustration I would have experienced had I not known this. Thanks again.

I had the mini Misti and while I was not unhappy with it, I decided to get the Tim Holtz one when it went on sale this past time.
I got it in Yesterday and I love the Tim Holtz. It stamps easier and I like be the larger size (of course my Misti was the mini so it’s a big jump for me).
I definitely prefer the TH. ❤️❤️❤️
