I know there's different kinds and brands, I just thought I'd ask here for the best recommendations. I need something heavy-duty, I ain't trying to cover up a five-pound pooch if you know what I'm saying.

My suggestion is that maybe a 'slip' style garment (not sure if it's the same name in the US) is better. I've tried a couple of pairs of pants including ones that come up to meet the bottom of a bra strap and they roll down. They're also buggers to wear!! I've seen a garments that is basically a sheath with shoulder straps that allows you to wear your own bra, scoops underneath that and then comes down over the hips and upper thighs. I imagine that will look smoother and stay in place but I don't have personal experience.

It depends on what you want to wear them with as that will influence my specific suggestions. With pants, a shaping cami or body suit works well, as do the high waisted shaping panties. With dresses a high waisted shaping short works best. As far as brands go, you cannot go wrong with Spanx, but Maidenform makes good ones too.

I have a pair of "magic underwear" that I don't hate and doesn't kill me to wear it. It doesn't roll down which I have a pair that does that and it's awful. They're similar to these . I think the secret is the hook/eye closure on them that keeps them in place and nice and snug (but not too snug).

Given that I tried unsuccessfully to put on my summer clothes this morning, I may be returning to what you are needing. I will say this, avoid anything that goes up over your waist because it just rolls down.

@keithurbanlovingpea I'm specifically looking for something to wear under a dress.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.
