We have cellular shades and used to have curtains. The look was ok. Now, with changing our bedroom around we don't have curtains. I'm looking for what you've done with the shades for a valance. I have looked on Pinterest already. Nothing much has jumped out at me.
So, do you have cellular shades and a valance? If so, did you make your valance?
Would you mind please posting a photo of what you have please?
Thanks!

I have used cellular blinds in previous homes but none had a valance. I liked the bottom up/top down style (no cords!) and the valance got in the way of looking out the window so I never put any up. My windows did have decorative trim so I thought they looked fine without the valance. And the shades were interior mounted.
Hope this helps!

It's on my project list because I don't love the way the windows look with just blinds. I've made it as far as gathering the materials and am blaming DH for not mounting the hardware so I can get finished. I replaced the vertical blinds on our slider with a curtain a couple of years ago and have enough fabric leftover to make valances for the three windows in the room. I bought simple white valances from Target to use as my lining and will hang them using the Ikea Racka rods, Syrlig rings with clips and curved end pieces instead of finials. It should end up being a mash up of these two looks.

Thanks ladies!
I hadn't thought about being able to pull down the blinds. Now.......I'm thinking I will make a valance from fabric. Hmmm.......now to decide on fabric.

I'm curious to see what you end up doing. Our house came with cellular blinds and curtain rods that don't necessarily even extend past the trim on the window. I never bothered hanging curtains since we're in the middle of the woods and I prefer to get all the light into the house that we can. I think I'd want to change hardware if I were to put up valances.

I'm not sure what I'd do for fabric. It will probably be a couple of months before I do anything. We ordered new cellular blinds and it will be 2 weeks or so before they come in. After that life is already interfering. I'll post once I figure it out and they are done.
