Silhouette is releasing a 3D printer and some other items as well. I don't know enough about 3D printers to know if there's something unique about their version so maybe someone else will chime in with that. https://www.instagram.com/p/BipHuxNnK4J

The technology means you should be able to have a 3D-printer that also cuts. This is the type of combined use I'm waiting for to invest in. I'm annoyed they've decided to come out with a machine that only does 3D-printing. Come on...
Thanks for the updates! At least it opens up new perspectives (and renewed hope there will finally be a machine that does both in the not-too-distant future).

It looked interesting. I watched the video, and I read what info was available about the new releases.
I think my sister might be interested in the 3D printer, but she designs finger labyrinths. I think whether or not she buys the Silhouette 3D printer will depend on how big you can make your 3D project. The video seems like the maximum diameter may be rather small.

I've thought about a 3D printer to make my own acrylic pieces, but I've been waiting for my husband to have an excuse to need one too. It only does 4.5 inches so doing longer words like the Story Kits wouldn't be possible. I'm also sure its price point to have a Silhouette one isn't going to be worth it. that regular 3D printers will be cheaper.

I'm sure it'd be fun to have one for acrylic words and the like, but for the number of times I'd use it, I think it's cheaper to buy the finished embellishments.

I like the sound of the new kraft blade which will supposedly cut felt without having to stabilise it.

The print bed on their 3D printer is really small. I’ve been learning how to use a 3D printer at the public library for the last couple months. From what I’ve read, you can get a regular 3D printer with a much larger bed for about $200. If I was going to invest in one today, I’d be seriously looking at the Creality Ender 3. The people in my cookie cutter group who bought the Ender 3 are loving it so far.

The new version has such small icons that it's a pain to see You can enlarge them by going to preferences/display/button size. I had to make mine quite a bit bigger!

wendifful Thank you for sharing. I am really, really, really interested in the new kraft blade. That will save me a ton of money and headaches from buying a Cricut Maker. I loved they are advertising the blade to cut delicate materials. If the kraft blade turns out to be something this will take care of all my die cutting needs. I would like them to release this blade tomorrow, lol. I hope we can use it on the Cameo 2. I don't mind upgrading to a pretty color Cameo 3 to get the blade. Also intrigued by the doming kit. Those of us that own a Silhouette as our main sticker maker machine are going to be really excited about a doming kit, lol. I wonder if it is going to be resin or just "Glossy Accents". I am really hoping for a true doming kit from them. I am kind of interested in the Alta but it looks a bit gimmicky and not true 3D. Not being snarky about gimmicky. It was the best word I could think of. You know a lot of us love our "gimmicky" tools- Mint, Fuse, Punch Boards, etc.... I think the Alta might be popular. My library has a 3D printer. I don't want to buy a trend tool if I can use one at the library for a nominal fee. I like the new features with Silhouette Studio. This might get me to upgrade from the free version. Silhouette Studio is becoming a beautiful professional software to use instead of a craft tool. Not being snarky again about craft tool. When I got into die cutting years ago I was looking for a professional art machine. I felt like a lot of the machines on the market hardware wise were at that level the software was at a basic level. With all these new announcements from Silhouette I feel like I finally have a professional art tool. I am really super excited about the announcements. Thank you everyone for sharing. I thought getting Shantae Pirate's Curse for my DS for $20 tonight was the highlight of my day but this made it even better.

I am really interested in that kraft blade too. Love to be able to use it to cut felt, and maybe crepe paper. I tried the Cricut Maker and it was so slow. I returned it. Love that the kraft blade works in their regular machine. I asked one of the bloggers who is in Hawaii at the conference and they said it would work with their existing machines. If that is indeed true, it would be great. Although that hot pink sparkly Cameo 3 looks pretty awesome!
