When we leave the house, we lock her in the laundry room or bedroom, which helps keep her from freaking out and peeing on the carpet. Today, it was the bedroom.
When I opened the door upon returning from the pool, she lunged toward me and came up short, whining and gagging. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then I realized that she had managed to stick her head through the strap of a bra hanging on the bathroom door-- and then spun around so many times that I couldn't get my fingers under the strap, either on the doorknob or around her neck. It was so bad that I thought we were going to have to cut the strap just to free her.
I know I shouldn't have laughed as she really could have choked herself, but, damn. Only my dog could have managed something this dumb.

Oh, no. This could spark a consumer safety campaign. Then our bras will all have "This is not a toy" stamped all over them.

At one point, we had a dog that had her crate in the laundry room. We only crated her for a couple of hours a day while we were in class, and the laundry room was bigger than our kitchen or bathroom. (Think college apartment-that we had a laundry room was astounding, the rest of the place was tiny.) So I left to go to class and put her in her crate. Imagine my surprise when I came home and she (big giant black lab) was waiting patiently at the door covered in a white-ish dust all waggy and squiggly with joy. She had somehow managed to get out of her crate and when the closed door proved to be a challenge to open, she had dug her way through the drywall to create a hole the size of ... well ... a giant black lab. It was a rented apartment too. There was drywall dust everywhere, pieces of the wall all over the apartment and scratch marks everywhere. Dogs are weird, aren't they?? I'm glad your puppy is a-okay.

Glad for 2 things, that your dog is okay, and to know I'm not the only one that may hang a bra on a door knob.

Now that your pup is okay, it is funny!
I made a dumb move myself at the dog park tonight. I drape the leash around my neck so that I'll have it handy when the time comes to leave and I get a hold of Lacey. Well, tonight I looped the hook end through the loop end and forgot when I put the leash on Lacey. If she had run, the leash would have tightened around my neck! What a dummy I was! We had a good laugh about it, though.

I am so glad he is ok!! I am always worried about my kittens getting into something like that while I'm gone (choking on a small toy, getting tangled in the cords of the blinds, knocking over something and having it land on them, etc.) and my husband thinks it is silly. But now, seeing how your dog got wound up in a bra strap, I feel like my worries are justified!! Lol

My cat has gotten her neck caught in the handle of a plastic grocery bag. Luckily I was home to see it happen and now try to stash all plastic bags away from her. I'm glad your dog was ok.

One time we came home to our dog with a big plastic jug (was simmering that animal crackers came in) over her head. She looked like a little astronaut dog. It was funny after we breathed a sigh of relief that she was okay. I'm bummed that we didn't take pictures. Glad your pooch is okay!

Glad for 2 things, that your dog is okay, and to know I'm not the only one that may hang a bra on a door knob. I do this all the time, in the bathroom to dry them! And now have a new idea about where my missing bra might be (in the yard, dragged there by MaxTheBeagle)...

My sister came home one day to find her dog dangling from the tire swing apparatus on her daughters swing set. He had decided to jump through the hoop and didn't make it all the make. His front legs were through and back legs weren't. This is the same dog who got a bucket stuck on it's head. A very stupid dalmation.

Our one cat did this. We had to catch her before we could take the bag off she was running around like a nut trying to get away from the bag. It was so funny!

Ours loved the paper tote bags that shops put your clothes etc in. I always had to cut the handles in half because he would dive in, spin around and charge out, often getting caught with the handle around his neck. OP I'm glad your dog wasn't seriously hurt!

We had a kitten, an orphan we were fostering for the local Vet, who got caught up in a length of string and died. It was beyond heartbreaking. I had become very attached to her and we were most likely going to keep her. She was a very special little thing...

I'm not a handslapper, but I was finding it kinda hard to find anything to laugh about because animals are just like little kids and babies, they're always trying to hurt themselves and it can be tragic in the blink of an eye... I guess that makes me Debbie Downer on this thread. Sorry, OP.
