I recommend a couple of easy reads: The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah ... a story about a teen who moves to Alaska with her dysfunctional parents in the 1970's The Woman In the Window by A.J. Finn ... a thriller that features a woman who has agoraphobia I am reading The Woman in the Window right now. It got good reviews but I am about 160 pages in and am tired of her getting druhnk and popping pills and explaining her depressing family situation and agoraphobia. I am very close to stopping the book. Does it get any better! [ Yes! I felt the same way and it does get better!

I just found her to be a sad character

I just found her to be a sad character That is the problem that I am having, she is a depressing person. I don't mind a drunk if they are a happy drunk and pill popper. When I watch a movie or read a book I like something that is either exciting, interesting or upbeat. I don't like reading hundreds of depressing pages. There have been several books over the years that others really liked and I just found them to be big downers. I also have a problem with weak female characters. We'll see if I get much further with this one. 🤷♀️

The curious charms of arthur pepper.
A man clears his now deceased wife's clothing from the closet and discovers an old charm bracelet kept hidden away in a shoe. He had never seen the bracelet and his wife never spoke of it. His curiosity about the bracelet's origin and the specific charms overwhelms him, and he goes on a quest to understand why his wife kept it secret, and the untold stories behind the unique charms.
This was a fantastic story. A definite departure from what i would normally read, but so interesting and satisfying. I loved this book!

Corrie Ten Boom's The Hiding Place affected me profoundly.
I remember my granny had read it and told me I should read it, that it was a great book, yada yada. She was a Bible-thumping Baptist, and my teenage self was just NOT up for that kind of reading. I never even opened it.
Well, it came up on a Kindle deal a few months ago, and it was not at all what I expected. I had read Those Who Save Us and loved it, so I was sort of in a WWII frame of mind, I guess.
Corrie Ten Boom's story was a series of lessons in resilience and love. She is religious, but I didn't find her preachy. It was just her story... And what a story. She writes in a sweet, old-fashioned way, but the story itself is gripping.
If you are vehemently anti-religion, I guess it might not be for you. But it really affected me,
