I don't wear hats much. I feel like if I wear one, I'm stuck with it all day because I get awful hat hair. Now that my hair is super short, it's more noticeable.
I do have a large brim straw hat I wear in the summer when I know we're going to be out in the sun a lot with little to no shade. Bright sunlight gives me a headache, even with sunglasses. The hat helps. I have a big fake daisy clipped to the white tie around it from my wedding.
I also never really wore hats because of my hearing aids. The older ones had horrible feedback if something got too close to the microphone. Even if the hat didn't cover my ears, if it came down to my ears and touched the aid, I would hear feedback all day long. Same with winter hats. I would take my hearing aid out so I could wear a warm hat while shoveling snow. New hearing aid with better technology means far less feedback, if any at all, and I can wear hats during the winter. But now I have super short hair and end up looking like I'm bald under it instead.

I have several wide brim sun hats that I wear a lot, and a felted warm hat that I wear when it's cold. I don't seem to have too much trouble with that hair, maybe it's because my hats all run a bit big due to my little head. I've been told I wear a hat well.

My older sis will wear hats sometimes and look fabulous in them! Little cloches, berets--she looks good in them all. I've tried some on but haven't found any that look good on me. I will wear a floppy brimmed hat when outside in the sun during spring & summer, but that's it for me.

I went through a hat phase in the mid 80's. I think it was born out of the Princess Di days. We took a trip to London in 1985 and I wore several of my hats along with dress gloves. I loved them. As casual as dress has become, I can't see hats catching on again. Since I wear my hair short, I have more limited choices in which hats look good on me but I still wear a few now and then, must without feathers :-) You look like you have the perfect face for a hat! I’m not a hat fan, mostly because of hat hair! I don’t wear ball caps because everyone knows/assumes it’s a bad hair day I used to wear cowboy hats because I showed horses. Now my only hat is a bike helmet!

SaveSaveThank you, it depends on the hat. I've knitted a few caps that didn't look good on me because they covered all my hair and with my round face, just didn't work. I have a cloche hat I bought at a Renaissance fair that is my favorite.

I love hats but wouldn't want to wear them often!
I would love the tradition of hats at weddings! I loved wearing them when I lived in London.

Love them on other people. On me, they look ridiculous.

Love hats and have a few but don't wear them. I'd love to see hats have a revival.

I am so surprised at the number of you who think you cannot wear hats due to your round face. I see some of your faces in your aviators and totally disagree with your assessment. Why is it, as women, we are all typically much too hard on ourselves? I don’t like that. And if you hate a hat, what about a fascinator? I don’t know how they attach, but they are not a full hat. And out of all the many British hat wearing women, surely there are many with “round faces” that should make them look funny in a hat, but I honestly never looked at a single person in a hat and thought that.
