I've been reading on different threads about plastic bag bans and have decided to try getting into the habit of using reusable shopping bags again. I have some from Meijer, but they seem to fall apart rather easily. If you have reusable bags that you like, please share!
Thanks!

I've used llbean's medium tote with regular handles for years. They are super sturdy and wash great. One of my bags is 25+ years old! They don't lie flat but I just fold and put all of them in one bag.

I have a thin one from Target that must be almost 10 years old. It folds into a small square and I keep it in my purse. 90% of the time, it’s the only bag I need for errands. I bought some similar ones from Coldwater Creek at Christmas time and they work well. They are a little stiff, but should loosen up with time.
For grocery shopping, I have about 10 bags that I’ve received as giveaways over the years. I use them until they start to fall apart. Vera Bradley makes a good tote, too. They are a stiff plastic and about $8 ish. I replace them every few years as they rip. They are pretty large, so are good for bigger lighter things like paper towels.

I have a couple that are insulated for the cold/frozen groceries, and the rest are either made from canvas or burlap - just things I’ve gotten free over the years. I keep them all inside the zipped-up insulated bag.

I’d love to find a bag which I could keep in my purse. I’m so bad about getting to checkout and then realizing I’ve forgotten my bags. On many of my trips to the store, I could get by with one bag.

I have a couple from Trader Joe's, the red and white ones they put out when reusable bags became a thing. They must be ten or twelve years old. Still going strong. Other store bags (I'm looking at you, Whole Foods) haven't worked out as well.

I have two that I got from Pottery Barn (probably 5 years ago?) that I love.. They are lined on the inside so water doesn't leak if it gets spilled and then burlap on the outside. The handles are sturdy. I found mine inside of a PB store so I am not sure if they sell them online or not. They weren't expensive - about $8 or so. But I use the two I have all the time.

I second Trader Joe's bags. There isn't a TJ in my town so I've bought them in other cities when I've visited the TJ store there. The oldest one I have is 8 years old and still going strong even after being washed numerous times. I found this on Amazon. I have 2 of this design and 4-5 of other designs. This heavy canvas holds up well and I use them for more than bringing groceries home.

Trader Joe's! My kids even used them when they went trick or treating.

For groceries I really like the $0.99 Trader Joe's bags. I also have one of their "cold bags". For clothing I have several of these types of bags and keep at least one in my purse at all times. They fold up pretty small. I don't mix my grocery and clothing bags with anything else. So for sundries and other stuff I use any other reusable bag.

Another fan of the Trader Joe bags! Cheap, super sturdy and they have longer handles that I like. I think my oldest bag from them is easily 5+ years old and they get used all the time. My Mother In-law and I collect them when we visit other states, so I have a fun collection.

Not so much a "bag" but more of a basket....https://www.containerstore.com/s/black-shopping-basket-by-reisenthel/d?productId=11002886&q=Reisenthiel
These are in investment piece, but worth every penny. I have had two for years now (fun prints... only one at CS right now is boring) and use them all the time. They do fold down flat unlike the metal frame basket I have. The solid bottom is great for canned goods and glass too. And the store clerks love them because they sit open and are easy to fill. I do use them other than groceries too... they come in handy when I have several errands to run and need to carry returns/post office stuff/etc to the car and to collect up small bags when I am out shopping too.

I get mine at Daiso. They are $1.50 a piece and come in all colors and patterns. The ones that I have are a couple of years old and are used every week sometimes several times a week, have been through the washing maching and they are still like brand new. They come in a little envelope with a snap. I keep a couple of them in the bottom of my purse in case I forget the loose ones that I keep in the door pocket on my driver's side of my car.
ETA: They are the same size as the plastic grocery bags the stores used to have.

Add me to the Trader Joe's list. lol. My favorites are the basic reddish/white ones, cloth with shorter handles (not long enough to go over a shoulder). They're definitely cloth, not canvas. I'm not sure they make them anymore although I haven't looked closely. I also have a couple of the the other ones that have been linked in this thread. They last forever. I also have two others that I use regularly, one that says "if you're not outraged you're not paying attention" and one that has President Obama's photo on it.

we use the trader joes ones a lot. if not those, then i like using the wide gusseted bags. that being said, i'm not a fan of the heavy canvas bags. i like the lightweight kind that can be easily washed and dried.

Depends what you need them for. For groceries, we like the TJ's and Costco ones. I actually like the Costco ones better as the TJ ones I'm always fighting to keep them open as I'm filling them. For shopping at places like clothing stores, etc. I like the thin nylon cloth ones that fold down and are held together with a snap or piece of elastic. I keep those in my purse and in the car at all times.

Trader Joe's. I started collecting the state bags when they had those grab bags. They are so cute! At first I wasn't sure if they were going to be strong enough, but they really are workhorses.

I have a couple of sets of these. They are GREAT! They hold a lot, even full of heavy stuff like cans and produce and works great at places like Aldis if you can manage to get them hooked onto the cart before they start scanning. I found them at the dollar store randomly but haven't seen them there in a couple of years. www.amazon.com/Grab-Bag-Shopping-Pkg/dp/B00RBUF1UGAlso have a zippered insulated bag from Sams that works well on hot days.

When I go to Aldi I use bags from the FlyLady. My sister asked for them as a gift once and I ordered a set of three for myself. Lightweight but they've held up well over the time I've been using them. I also have some from Trader Joe's, and assorted others I've been given or picked up somewhere. I have thermal bags from ThirtyOne but don't actually use them much.

The 99 cent KNALLA bags from Ikea. They fold up smaller than a wallet, and I love them. Very sturdy for grocery shopping. I also have the zip tote and the umbrella. Love those items.

We use THESE. They're sturdy, stay open and fold flat. I get mine at Walmart and they are only about $2 ea, the Amazon ones are a bit pricey.
