I'll start. Awhile ago, I posted on the old board to see if any single Peas would consider dating a single dad with full custody of 6 kids (now ages 3-18). This is my BIL and his ex is in/out of the picture. Anyway, as expected, many said they would be a bit hesitant. Well, he dated a bit and got on Match and found a lovely woman with two young daughters. They've been dating since April and he's going to propose by Thanksgiving! She will move about 20 miles south to his city since her kids are easier to uproot at their ages (3 and 6). Her ex is not in the picture. She works at a hospital so this will increase her commute a bit. His 18 year old is going to the local community college, so he'll have a houseful of 8 kids for at least a couple years (sounds like a reality show, 4 boys and 4 girls). They also plan to get her a bigger car. They plan a spring wedding and hopefully his annulment will come through (his ex was a nutter and walked out on him for another guy/drugs etc). This is one brave lady for being willing to take on 6 kids but I hope it works out for them. He's a wonderful dad to those kids and has been their stability while their mom pulled the rug from under them. Anyway, just wanted to share some good news. Anyone else have some to share?

Whoa that is fantastic news! I had that experience and seeing a positive test was so exciting after a long wait. Positive baby vibes to her!

I had a serious cancer scare, but last week my test results were great! No cancer, but I do have to go back yearly for testing.

Mine is, we didn't have to completely give our foster pup Molly up permanently. Her actual foster mom is going to help with training at no charge and we will get together for future play dates to see how she has improved. We will be keeping her a couple of times when her foster mom goes out of town to see if things are getting to be a better fit for us. So, it's a win-win!

DH & I both got a raise this school year (steps and cost of living). We were unsure of the total until today when they went into effect. The total of our raises more than covers the increase in our monthly home payment. We went from renting on the other side of town to buying a house within 10 minutes of our school and our kids. We had prepared to compensate for the extra amount in our budget, but now we have more wiggle room for home improvements. We saved and scrimped to get to this point, so it's nice to see the hard work and planning pay off.

I LOVE threads like this! - We had my ds's progress meeting last Friday and he now has para support in all of his classes and if the school follows through with all that they say they're going to do, my ds should have a successful year! - Today was the first Monday in 3 weeks that I didn't wake up at 5am feeling like death warmed over. I have to get up at 5am now to make the mornings go smoothly for everyone. I'm NOT a morning person and the last few Mondays have been BRUTAL. I've been exhausted, cranky and mean. LOL While I was still tired this morning/today, I didn't feel stabby. - My girls are having a GREAT time playing soccer (their first year) despite the fact that they're getting their asses handed to them every game. They lost 9-0 on Saturday...but they played hard and are loving the experience. - Canon (new puppy) is fully housebroken. He WILL pee on the floor if you don't get to him quickly enough when he hits the door to go out. But he doesn't pee the entire amount. It's like he relieves JUST enough and then when we get to letting him out he finishes out there. LOL Thankfully that's only happened twice in the last 2-3 weeks. AND, now that my schedule at work is solidified - he's in the crate on Mondays from 8am until 3:05pm. I was extremely nervous that it'd be too long for him but he's been doing GREAT!! I just love my pup!! - My part-time job (in home daycare that takes only teacher's children so we get summers/holidays off) is only 2-3 days a week. She told me last week that she's paying me more this year because she feels she asking me to cover later than normal which puts me JUST on the edge of being able to pick ds up from school. She's only 2 mins from the school and I've given ds instructions to just wait for me in a certain area if I get held up at the daycare. I told her she didn't have to do that but she insisted. It's not an overabundance of money but just enough that makes me love working with her even more.

I love threads like this! It is great too read good news from everyone!
My husband had his three month checkup with the dr about his fractured collar bone and got the all clear from him. Now we just have to pray for more good news next Wednesday. If all is well with the Spine doctor at that time he will get his brace off his neck and back. It has been a long three months for both of us. He is tired of the brace and not being able to drive and having to help after he showers to change all the wet pads. I am just tired of the driving!

We've had a couple good things so far this month.
We left the house our DS grew up in to move over the summer because his school district refused to follow federal law and grant him a 504 plan. Within 2 weeks of school starting in our new district, his 504 was in place and they are following it.
Also, found out yesterday, we have met our out of pocket maximum for the year for DS, so from now until December 31st, everything is covered at 100% for him. He has Type 1 diabetes, so we will get 6 months of test strips, insulin vials, insulin pens, pump supplies, continuous glucose monitor supplies and hardware, and at least 2 doctors' appointments covered at 100%. Might not mean a lot to some, but for us, it's over $2,000 in stuff we don't have to pay.
Lastly, my job, which was supposed to be ending on August 31st, is now continuing to at least December 31st. That gives us time to build our savings back up after using nearly all of it in the process of moving/going on a family vacation this summer and will allow me to take a full 6 months off when it does end.

Thanks for this thread, I'm thinking we all need some good news these days....
My dd and son in law, who have been trying for almost a couple of years are now 13 weeks pregnant (though she is not 'announcing' till next week) (so don't tell I told)
Funny thing, @6 months ago, son in law came to me, frustrated and said "We've been trying for almost 2 years now...why isn't it working" I told him that back in my day (late 70's) it was believed that 'tighty whities' killed the sperm and that "I knew I was in 'trouble' when (my) dh disrobed and had no underwear"...anyways, son in law thought that was the 'most ridiculous thing' he had ever heard...but decided it couldn't hurt and stopped wearing underwear. A couple months later....woohoo!!

OP thank you for posting this! Just what I needed and love hearing about everyone else's lives.
1. We finally got our fall vacation planned. We are super excited. We had putting it off actually taking the leap and than one night a few days ago everything fell into place.
2. Ds17 is doing pretty good on his new medicine. It is still a bit of a waiting period as there can be a honeymoon time but I think overall it is a better fit. He has been on it almost a month and in the past if there is a honeymoon period it ends by about 2 weeks so I think we are in a safe place.
3. Dh is in sales and works really hard. Some months you can work crazy hard and it pays off and other months you can work crazy hard and deals don't close for one reason or another. They might eventually close but that doesn't help you for that month. By the 10th of this month he already had double his quota. Just takes a lot of stress off him.
4. My little guy started K and I thought he would have a hard time transitioning due to it being 5 days a week but he has done great. It is full days too. I am so grateful!!! Perfect fit for him and he is thriving.
5. My mom found an area she wants to live in and just started the processing of having a home built. It is a great community for her. It is for 55 and up, they own their homes, have no outside work to do and it is about 115-120 homes so a nice amount of neighbors but small enough it will feel like a community and place she can feel at home. There are about 2 dozen other single ladies so she was happy about that.

Mine, Dad had surgery a week and a half ago and came through great. I'm very grateful that it was s success.
ds has a difficult time in school, the beginning of the year is always a challenge while he figures things out. So far we're off to a pretty good start, which i'm very happy about!

The bad news is the restaurant SO was managing, CLOSED! No warning, just closed one day. (owner/partner dispute...long story!)
The good news is yesterday he got a job with a well-known chain restaurant and he starts on Thursday. He'll serve and bartend and attend management training. YAY! Benefits! A REAL company! YAY!

My children's school had to add an extra kindergarten class a week and a half after school started due to unexpected enrollment. I was afraid my DS was going to get moved to the new teacher (the one he has already is perfect for him: loud and has tons of patience!) but he gets to stay in his class. I am happy.

Lovely thread! News that gave me the most pleasure recently was that DD passed an exam she'd had to re-sit in August. Passing means she can go into her final year at uni without having to retake the whole module and can concentrate on her chosen areas and her dissertation instead.

I'm starting my third week of retirement and it's lovely!
Tomorrow I pick up one of my long time friends who is flying in from Houston to stay with me for a week and be here for the retirement/birthday party my husband is throwing for me on Saturday night. I'm so excited as we haven't seen one another for four years and it's been 26 years since she's been back home.....I can't wait to show her how much everything has changed, she's not going to believe it. It will be a fun week!

After three years of exhausting effort, my DD was finally granted an IEP to address her dyslexia issues. Such a relief to know she'll be receiving the accommodations she needs to be successful in school!

Loving everyone's good news! My good news is a little feel good story for my 16yo ds. He tried to quit his school volleyball team yesterday because he failed a math test. His coach and team mates all got really emotional and asked him to stay. So he didn't quit. I think they made him feel good about himself and I was happy for him. On the flip side, I have taken away his phone and computer until his math mark improves. This could be a long semester !

My oldest dd got a job. She had some things that had to be straightened out before she could start, but she's on the schedule now and is working finally. I was worried about them since her husband isn't working this semester.

Love this thread!!
We just paid off our house this week and managed to do it several years ahead of schedule. It was so exciting going into the bank and making that final payment. I laughed and said I should've brought champagne. I haven't told anyone IRL because I feel weird talking about finances with friends or family. Thanks for letting me share this major feat here!
