I thought it was really good. I really want to know what's up with the dogs though.
Did anyone else see it?

Aww nuts! I completely forgot this was premiering last night. I'll have to catch it on demand later today.

Yeah, we watched it. It was…interesting...and strange. We're also curious about the dogs, and why those "GR"(?) people were all smoking cigarettes, and what was going on with that deer that kept turning up. We'll watch it next week and then decide if we want to continue with it.

I hadn't even heard of this show until it came on after True Blood last night so I decided to watch it. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on since they jump forward 3 years and would have flashbacks from time-to-time.
I thought the dogs were perhaps dogs that were left back after their owners disappeared so in the 3 years they've been left to fend for themselves they started packing together so they could get food and they've become wild, like wolves.
I don't know why that one group is always smoking cigarettes. I don't know if I will keep up with it. I will watch next week and decide.
So...was the deer that the sheriff saw in house and destroyed his kitchen? (remember, he asked the deer was he the one in his house) If so, why didn't he hear it during the night? Was it because of all the meds on his bed-side table?
PS: I love that this board has spell-check

Sorry I didn't see this threat when I posted mine! I liked the premise and I think I'll keep up with it for a few more episodes

I heard an interview with the book author (he wrote the screenplay for the first episode too). He said the folks who smoke cigarettes do so because they feel they have nothing left to lose, they are going to heaven soon. He also said he doesn't know why people disappeared and that the story is more about how the remaining folks deal after they are gone.
I haven't seen the show yet...I also forgot it was on. The interview was great though. It was on Fresh Air with Terri Gross on NPR.

Sorry to disagree, but I thought it was boring as could be. I watched the full hour, and then noticed that it went an hour and 15 minutes. In the last 15 minutes I gave up and went to fold laundry. Yeah, it had to be boring to me if I chose laundry folding over watching TV. (I'd put a grin smiley here, but I need new contacts and can't make out which one is a grin).
It started out okay, but then the story lines went into different directions and just fizzled out. I couldn't connect with the characters and didn't care what happened to any of them.
But that's just me. I'm glad for those who enjoyed it. DS said he refused to watch it because one of the head guys (writer, production guy) was in charge of LOST and he's still pissed with the way that show ended. I was at least willing to give it a chance.

Makes sense about the smoking. I'm a little peeved we won't find out why people disappeared. That's really what would keep me watching, I think. We'll see.

I thought it was really good. I really want to know what's up with the dogs though. Did anyone else see it? It was mentioned on the show that the dogs went crazy because they were with their owners and saw them disappear.

Just found this on my 'recorded' list. Very odd but I liked it. Hope it doesn't end up like 'Lost', all complicated and improbably shark jumpish.

We watched. I think dh liked it more than I did. It's definitely an interesting premise. It felt a little off, like maybe they took on too much with the first episode IMO. I didn't love it but I'll definitely watch again before I give up on it.
The smoking club had a sign up in their common area that said "we smoke because we have faith" or something like that.

I liked it but I couldn't enjoy it with my dh commenting "this sucks" every 10 seconds. ugh. Oh my gosh.... DH does the same thing to me. Actually he doesn't really like anything I watch, but on the other hand I suffer through every Alaskan trials and tribulation show, and don't forget 'naked and afraid". I do a lot of eye rolls with that one.

I'm watching it now, apparently not holding my interest cause I'm here. If I'm watching something I really like, I devote my full attention to what I'm watching. I hate seeing dogs being killed.

It's not about The Rapture...they don't know why or where the people were taken, but I think it's pretty clear it wasn't the religious Rapture.
I was a little bored.
I think they tried to introduce too many story lines and in doing so I lost interest in all of them.
From the author's comments it sounds like the show won't even address the aspect I'm most interested in - finding out why the missing were taken. I'm not sure I will stick with it.

okay I watched it. talk about depressing. and what's with the constant smoking cult? I hope they don't branch off into too many stories. it's hard enough to keep the current ones straight and invest in the story lines if they keep adding more. the smoking cult is a good story line as well as the issue with the police chief. I don't know about the other cult.
