For multiple reasons we’ve waited till the last minute to plan a summer getaway this year. Now time is running out and we really want to go somewhere! We have 2 boys, 14 and 12. We want to go one place and relax. Open to locations out of the US.
anyone have ideas for me?

May I have a few more details? What are the boys in to? What kind of things do you typically like to do on vacation, hiking, swimming, museums, zip lining, etc? Do you have preferences as far as mountains, beach, desert, etc?

My boys loved the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado at that age. We also went to Chicago for a long weekend, we did L.A/Hollywoo/Anahiem for a week once. Hubby took the boys and did the boundary waters up north.

How do you feel about beaches? St Thomas is my boys favorite place to go, or Nassau (and go to Atlantis).

Do you have preferences as far as mountains, beach, desert, etc? Weve done a bit of everything on previous vacations. Been on a few cruises, skied & hiked in Colorado. Been out to San Diego, La Jolla & Coronado (lucky to have family there at times.) Done Disney & Universal. We’ve done VBROs, regular hotels and all inclusive so any of those work. Boys would probably be up for about anything. DH wants relaxation. So we don’t want to be changing locations or driving somewhere everyday. I think I’m looking for a good beach or resort at the beach. Waiting till now now has really made it tough, plus between the end of baseball season for the boys and stuff starting up at school there’s just not a lot of time. And everyone else is working with the same window of time LOL! May at not end out working out this year, but I figure I’ll have a jump on next year!

Summer months in the Caribbean aren't always very popular because of the heat. Jamaica is a lot of fun. So is Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Water is so gorgeous you can just sit in the waves all day.

Sounds like an all inclusive is the way to go. 950nancy is correct, you should still be able to find all inclusive in the Caribbean and probably Mexico too.

Cruises and all-inclusives are great for those ages. We did those with our boys as pre-teens and teens. It allows them to have some limited freedom, but still be within the overall boundaries of the ship or resort. They loved it and we enjoyed knowing they were safe but somewhat independent.

And if you take them to Punta Cana, they might give them the "adult" bracelet at 14. . They thought my younger son was 16 and gave him the adult bracelet. He was allowed to drink and gamble at that age. They are a bit more lax on those kinds of things out of the US.

A friend and I stayed at an Iberostar in Jamaica...they are in many places. I'd stay at one again...all inclusive..

When I was 14 or 15 my parents, sister, and I spent a week in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. We had a fantastic vacation and I have fond memories or that trip. We stayed in a cabin at each location rather than camping and we loved it.
