Have you had success? I am baffled on how a high fat diet will help you lose weight? I would also think your cholesterol would go thru the roof?
Any good tips, or recipes, helpful hints. I am really thinking of trying this .

I recommend you check out this Reddit Keto. It is a wealth of information. All "dumb" questions are answered. They have a FAQ on the sidebar that is a helpful place to get started. Also, the Magic Pill is a video that helps demystify the process a bit too. I have lost 20 lbs. About 1.5 pounds a week. I don't think this is really magical - I simply eat less sugar, no white stuff (flour, rice, potatoes), eat enough protein, eat more vegetables than ever before, limit sugary foods (this includes fruit), I think about what is going in my mouth. You do not need to only eat fat. Fat is not a goal. Fat is to help you feel satiated. If you are "starving" and pop two pieces of bacon you'll feel fuller longer (that's my explanation). Keto works when your body has to use it's stores vs. getting the energy from cheap carbs. You really wouldn't even know I am eating differently other than my hamburgers are now eaten without buns or ketchup!

Yup. Almost 2 months. 9 lbs and a few inches. Hubby about 20 lbs. Meat, veggies, good fats, very little fruit (berries in moderation) fish...carbs under 20g. Feel much better too!

Hire a coach through Ketovangelist.com -- well worth the investment. I had studied the diet for nearly two years but just couldn't make the leap and felt overwhelmed. I hired a coach just for a month to get me going, and it was the best thing I could have done. I am 10 weeks in and have lost 26 pounds, with 100 more to go. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. In just 10 weeks I have had more benefits than just weight loss. I had 24/7 knee pain that is completely gone. My dry, flaky scalp is back to normal. I don't nod off in front of my computer every day like I used to...in fact the idea of a nap sounds silly...I just don't feel tired. I was SO inflamed internally, it was wreaking havoc on my body. Granted, I have a condition called Lipedema which makes me naturally succeptible to inflammation (which is why I chose keto), but still, I feel SO GOOD. My whole adult life I have been a cheater while on diets. This time around, I have not cheated once. I mentally miss my comfort junk food, but it's so worth it to me to get healthy and to continue feeling this energetic.
If you do some research, you will understand why eating fat makes sense. I suggest you read the book Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore. Another good one is The Obesity Code by Jason Fung.

Another good resource is Shawn Mynar's Keto for Women podcast. She has lots of helpful information and talks about the diet in easy-to-understand medical terms.

There's good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. As long as you are eating healthy fats, you will be fine. I eat at least 120g of fat a day. I don't really have any weight to lose but it keeps me trim and flat. My husband does it with me and by default, my kids (ages 10-15) eat pretty low carb diets. My brother has a lot of weight to lose. It took him a few weeks to really wrap his brain around eating high fat. He is about 8 weeks in and has lost 60 pounds. He's loving it! I think it is actually the easiest "diet" to do. I ate a paleo diet for years but I really missed my cheese and got tired of almond flour everything. There are a lot of keto groups on FB. I belong to a few "lazy keto" ones which might help you get started without being so strict. They are mostly 'lchf' (low carb high fat). I post a lot of my meals on IG if you are there - feel free to follow: @ginaraemiller Good luck!

I'm ending my 11th week on the keto WOE (way of eating). I have only lost about 6-8 pounds BUT my clothes are looser and I feel tons better. With keto, you aren't eating just a bunch of fats. You are trading for good fats.... almonds, avocado, MCT oils, etc. I agree with all of the above suggestions for information and resources.
While I was hoping to lose a few more pounds, I'm also sure I need to get my arse in the gym and do some type of cardio. I am just flip-flopping with my schedule and some other family obligations and have not had the time. Even though I have not seen a huge drop in the numbers I can tell you that I have more energy than I've EVER had. I used to take a nap almost every day. Part of that was due to horrible insomnia and the other part was just no energy. Since about week two on keto, I have not taken any naps and my energy is off the charts. Seriously! Two of my good friends have lost 45 and 65 pounds each. One was taking two BP meds, a diabetes pill, and a cholesterol pill. She has been off of all four for almost a year now. I was taking something to sleep almost every night and I am down to only taking it once or twice per week depending on when I need to sleep. I often work a night shift so I have to medicate sometimes. My skin looks better and I am definitely thinking more clearly.
While the weight loss has been slow for me, I am not getting discouraged AT ALL. I know I didn't put this extra weight on over night. I am very pleased with the keto WOE so far.

oh! I am also hardly ever hungry. I do drink a bulletproof coffee every morning.... 6 ounces of black coffee 1 tbsp MCT or coconut oil 1 tbsp heavy whipping cream splash of sugar free vanilla syrup dash of cinnamon 1 tbsp grass fed butter
I put it all in a cup and blend with my imersion blender. It is almost like a rich latte and it fills me up for HOURS.
I also do an iced version of that with about 4-6 ounces of coffee and 6-8 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, heavy cream, MCT oil, SF vanilla syrup, and cinnamon. I blend that and pour it over ice. I usually take that to work with me, too. I rarely even get hungry until about 2 but almost have to force myself to eat at 1. I don't even crave the things I was eating.... pastas, breads, cakes, cookies. Nope. Not even interested. I have eated a dam good keto pound cake that was seriously amazing but I no longer CRAVE those carb-y foods!!

I do lazy keto and eat a ton of eggs, too. My cholesterol isn't high and it's been 2 years- checked yearly. I do splurge on a Greek yogurt or 1/2 banana now and then though. mcscrapper I do the coffee every morning, too but have never added the MTC/coconut oil with the butter. Maybe I should try it. But I do eat 3 eggs w/cheese, too!

I have read up a lot on the Keto diet lately - joining several Facebook groups, reading lots of websites, watching videos, etc. I understand how it works, and see the results people are getting. I haven't jumped in because I am a vegetarian for ethical reasons, so half of the available food choices are gone for me, and I am having a hard time imagining a lifetime of eating only a few things. I did join a group for vegetarian Keto, and have been studying that, so maybe...
What puzzles me, and maybe it's just because I grew up in the 60s and 70s, is how this is different from any of the diets in the women's magazines my mother used to read back then - meat and vegetables, without bread, pasta, sweets, etc.? I remember that even at Woolworths, the diet plate was a hamburger without a bun, with a side of cottage cheese. (I think they also threw in a canned peach half, which I know is not Keto.) I guess those "diets" were supposed to be followed short-term, as opposed to Keto.
Is it just that we have now lived through the "low fat/high carb" craze for so long that makes this way of eating such a novelty?

Check out Dr. Fung's books, "The Complete Guide to Fasting" and "The Obesity Code". The books get into the science behind why the keto works. Combined with fasting has made a huge difference for me. I lost about 30 pounds and have kept it off for more than a year (I went from a size 10, about to be a 12, back down to a size 6). The biggest thing is that I feel so much better. I can tell now when I eat too many carbs because I don't feel good. I would say I'm lazy keto. I do 3 24hour fasts per week. Good luck!

I’ve lost 8lbs in May and so far this month 3lbs and the scale is still going down. I’m also diabetic, my A1C is 5.2, blood sugars are between 70-98, cholesterol numbers are excellent and I am not having to take any meds. It is not a difficult way of eating *for me*. I eat a protein with a good veggie and it’s that simple. So this isn’t just about dieting and losing a few pounds. It keeps my Diabetes under control and has been for the past five years. I eat anywhere from 5-15 carbs a day for weight loss and 20 for maintenance. What helps me stay on track is daily meal and snack planning. I also keep an eye on portion size and calories and use my glucose meter readings to help me keep my blood sugar controlled.

I got up at 1230 or so and had my coffee. I didn't eat again until after 8pm. (I work nights occasionally so my eating schedule is wonky) I was never hungry today but I was thirsty and did not get near enough water today. I do like that I can fast on this WOE and not really feel hungry or like I'm cranky or anything. SaveSave

I do think the oil makes me super full. It must be the oil because I feel full- but not stuffed- after coffee and eggs. Most of the time I skip lunch though- or eat some nuts or cheese. I have dinner around 6ish and don't eat again until 10ish the next morning. I know a guy who adds a scoop of protein to bulletproof coffee. I wouldn't eat anything else all day!

We are going to the beach next week and I am definitely taking my MCT oil. When I'm working, I do make an iced BPC but add some unsweetened vanilla almond milk and I might add a half of a scoop of my favorite protein powder and that gets me through most of my shift. One HUGE difference I've noticed in the keto diet is that I am eating much less but I am more satisfied longer, too. Still haven't seen major drop in the numbers on the scale but I am loving the other benefits so won't be going back. SaveSave
