How do you watch sporting events without cable? We use YouTube TV for streaming ($40/mo) and get all the sports we want and local networks ABC, CBS and NBC. We mostly watch shows on Netflix and Hulu. For the first time ever I’m not excited that fall shows are almost back.

How do you watch sporting events without cable? Our main sports we watch is baseball. We ended up dropping directv last November and when baseball season started we just bought a subscription to MLB TV and stream the games. Some lag but better than a cable bill each month just to watch them. (Had to have an expanded package too In order to watch them) After we dropped directv, we did about 8 months with YouTube tv at about 1/4 the cost. We recently realized besides the news, we weren’t watching anything we can’t get on hulu or Netflix. So we stopped that too. That will change once Doctor Who is back but I think you can buy episodes on Amazon.

I'm so far behind that it seems I am ahead. (I've never had cable or any pay for TV) Me too! I get 14 channels on regular tv and can almost always find something to watch, so why pay 100+ dollars a month for something to watch.

Just as we got our SKIP MODE button on Tivo we have cut the cord. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) Damn I loved that thing. I used to have to fast forward through commercials with the 30 second skip button several times and guess how many times and rewind when I went to far and keep hitting it if not enough. They added a button that let me do it with just one click. Now we are cable free and watching online. It's brand new to us, so we'll see how it goes. It was nice to have your season passes set up and not have to think about when a new season of your favorites started. Now I'm afraid we'll miss the returning shows. How do you keep up with your favorites? Hulu. except no cbs. Or if you are tech savy. there is a way to set up a "dvr" on a computer and connect it to your home network. Ours sits behind the tv in the living room, but we can connect to it with any tv that has an xbox. Confusing I know. lol. but my hubby is an IT guy. so he knows how it works. I am sure if you do some googling, there is a youtube video out there with more info. I think the thing we use is HD homerun, but I could be wrong.

I'm going to do it - but will add a streaming service. I want to test out Direct TV & You Tube TV now while I'm home this week. Xfinity certainly doesn't make it easy though! It doesn't even give me the option for internet only online. Apparently I have to call and be harassed in order to cancel. Re: comcast- go into the store, you probably have equipment to drop off anyway. They did not give us a hard time at all. Invest in an excellent modem/router. Take a look at Hulu Live, too. That is what we are using. Gets us Hulu programming and about 50 broadcast stations. We also have Prime and Netflix.

DH is threatening to cut the satellite TV and Im' about to have a heart attack. I watch/record a lot of TV, it's my guilty pleasure. If we got a digital antenna, how do you record those shows?? on a vcr??? With hulu live you get 50 hours of dvr with the basic plan. I think 200 hours with the upgraded plan.

How do you watch sporting events without cable? my guess is the ones who have cut the cord don't watch sports. We could never cut as we watch football, hockey, baseball, and college basketball during March maddness Check out Hulu Live. We watch sports all the time.

We have people coming out on Friday to install an antennae (tried to do it ourselves, but it didn't work) then we are dropping DirecTV like a hot potato. We have been having awful thunderstorms this summer and the rain fade is horrible. Supposedly there's nothing to be done. Yeah, not so much. We will be using SlingTV to watch Indy Car, which is the only sport we follow. It will be $30/month because we will use the optional Cloud DVR.

For the first time ever I’m not excited that fall shows are almost back. I'm admittedly technologically challenged, so please overlook yet another basic/beginner level questions (& my apologies in advance if they don't make sense)! How do you get the streaming shows onto your tv - smart phone, gaming system, etc., & can/how do you watch different shows on different televisions? We get bundled cable, internet, & phone (although not connected) service from the same provider. What do you use for internet access for your devices, & do you have a resident gamer?

We have roku sticks for each of our tv’s. If your gamer has PlayStation, they can use that to stream the tv. We have Comcast for our internet with unlimited data (because streaming and gaming uses a lot of data). We have direct tv now for $10.00 per month with live tv and several channels. It also includes 20 hours of dvr. It buffers sometimes but is getting better (we have had it since November). We also have Hulu, where we can catch most shows the next day, Amazon prime and we share Netflix with a friend.

We have internet through AT&T and use Roku to stream. I hate that we’re still tied to AT&T and am shopping for other internet options. No gamers in the home.

We have an android box and basic satellite. We are researching iptv subscriptions to add to the android. 14.00 a month for over 500 channels. Plus the kodi app for things we miss.
Even with basic satellite, we are paying 60.00 a month with fees!

How do you watch sporting events without cable? Sling TV. It gives us all of ESPN channels plus Fos Sports. Costs about $25. A month, but we get all the sports channels we want.I've I've had both Sling and DirectTV streaming. Sling is easier to use if you want to watch On Demand and recorded shows. DirectTV is more like regular satellite/cable. They change their format and features a lot. I don't like their app. Rob and I just dropped them. You can add on HBO, etc. on Amazon Prime or Hulu, so if you want the TV & movies, which is a huge library, you don't need the $$$$$ TV streaming. Amazon Prime has a ton of add ons like Acorn TV, Masterpieces, & Brit Box for British TV, Lifetime Movie club, Documentary Club, Tribeca Short List, HBO, Starz, Cinemax, Reelz... Many are an extra $5 mo. instead of the $10-15 they are on cable
