The cable cord that is.
I am now internet only. No more lists of unwanted televisions channels.
It's incredible though how difficult it is to convince the people at the cable company that you don't want ANY promotion or package. Just plain old internet service.
In the last 3 months or so, I have watched only the Americans on cable television; everything else is netflix or Amazon prime. Saving about $100 per month.

I did this last year. I haven't missed watching regular television at all. All of my watching is either Netflix or Amazon Prime movies and shows. There is so much content on there that is more than what I would ever need, or should ever need. If I run out of things to watch on Netflix, I've spent too much time in front of a screen.

I only have Netflix and Prime as well. I do not miss the commercials and I haven't run out of things to watch.

If you get a ruko, you can still watch fox. We've been without cable for about6 years now and no regrets. We have netflix, Amazon prime, and a ruko. Don't miss cable at all!!

I'm going to do it - but will add a streaming service. I want to test out Direct TV & You Tube TV now while I'm home this week. Xfinity certainly doesn't make it easy though! It doesn't even give me the option for internet only online. Apparently I have to call and be harassed in order to cancel.

we pay $500/month to the cable/phone company so something needs to give ... cancelling cable and home phone. that will leave 4 cell phones (incl data) and internet.
ridiculous.

we got rid of cable years ago, and never looked back. All we watch is Netflix streaming and DVD, and the occasional Amazon prime show. We don't even get the network stations, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

We got rid of Dish Network about a month ago, don't miss that at all. But DH made me cancel internet also. It was done a week ago today. It sucks!! I really wanted to keep the internet. If our D**N house ever sells, we will be moving to town. You can bet I'll be getting internet soon after we have electricity!!

Ditched DirecTV about 6 months ago. We told them we'd keep the service for $20/month. They said no. We canceled and sent the DVR back. About 2 weeks later we got an offer in the mail for... $20/month. TOOOOO LATE!! We don't miss them at all, but they apparently miss us. I know this because they keep sending us postcards telling us 'We Miss You!!'. I agree with Lexica. If I run out of things to watch on Netflix, I need a TV intervention. Oh, and a good cord-cutting tip if you still want the major networks is to just get a digital antenna. They're about $25 and the clarity is better than satellite.

That would be seriously "old school".

Don’t ask me how I don’t know but before my sister died she had an entire computer jst dedicated to tv recording. There were tons of things on there to ever have time to each it all

You can buy PVRs from Amazon. They are basically digital VCRs. So no tapes but from my understanding you have to program them to certain start and stop times on certain channels. Not quite as easy as hitting the record button off a guide channel but better than nothing.

How do you watch sporting events without cable? Sling TV. It gives us all of ESPN channels plus Fos Sports. Costs about $25. A month, but we get all the sports channels we want.

Hulu live is a streaming service that has a lot of sports channels, and may fit your needs. You are also able to record local network programming to a cloud dvr. This is the one I chose (not for sports, but for a&e and lifetime ) another service that is being pitched to sports fans is fubotv Most streaming services have free trials, so you could test them out while still using your cable company, in case it was not for you. I cut the cord a week ago after much research and am so happy I did!

We only watch our one football team, Broncos.. so I have an antenna for that. I am going to upgrade the antenna though, the one we currently have is not the best...

Just as we got our SKIP MODE button on Tivo we have cut the cord. Damn I loved that thing. I used to have to fast forward through commercials with the 30 second skip button several times and guess how many times and rewind when I went to far and keep hitting it if not enough. They added a button that let me do it with just one click. Now we are cable free and watching online. It's brand new to us, so we'll see how it goes. It was nice to have your season passes set up and not have to think about when a new season of your favorites started. Now I'm afraid we'll miss the returning shows. How do you keep up with your favorites?
