Tonight thankfully my husband packed an overnight bag for me and delivered it to me at the hospital. My Dad is having health problems and I took him to the ER today unexpectedly.
What would your over night bag look like if you husband packed it with minimal direction from you?

My DH is a very experienced overnight bag packer for himself, as he travels frequently for work for 2-3 days, so I imagine he would be able to pack for me fairly well. He might not choose exactly the clothes I would, but I would be decent, with clean underwear. He knows where all my meds are, so could easily pack those and would just grab the 'travel pack' of toiletries I have ready for weekends away.

If my dh had to pack a bag for me, I’d have 10 pairs of socks and underwear and a toothbrush, as those are his most important items to him being in the military for 20 years lol
If I gave him a list he would do well.

He's packed weekend bags for me a few times without my input and gets it spot on nowadays (after making a few mistakes the first couple of times). In his defense: I have a small closet, limited makeup, we share hair and skin products. He knows which perfume I wear during which season, that I need my Kindle + noise-cancelling headphones and that I've cursed myself before for forgetting makeup remover (which inevitably led me to telling him to remind me to bring it next time ).
Wishing your father a swift recovery, Chips

I ended up in the hospital unexpectedly a few years ago and I had to give hubby explicit directions on what to pack. He could not find a few things that were right where I told him they would be, and others I just did not ask as I knew he would not find them. Thankfully the hospital supplied all the necessities. So I was covered.

I suspect he would need some direction and he would most certainly over pack. Makeup would likely throw him.

I picked 50/50. I know he'd totally overpack because he wouldn't know what to bring but then forget other items or bring the wrong ones.

I think he’d do fine clothes wise, but be totally lost on makeup/toiletries. I have too many varieties/options, so he couldn’t just grab it all.

Without a specific list, it would be 50/50 at best. We could not be more different when it comes to packing. We leave early tomorrow morning for a week's vacation. My suitcase has been open for 2 days as I mull over every single item, weighing the pros and cons and trying to multi task various items. He'll open his duffle bag at 11:00 tonight and just sweep some clothing and toiletries into it.
I hope your dad feels better soon.

I just asked him what he’d pack. He would overdo the clothing and forget my deodorant. At least he knows I only need my small makeup bag and a toothbrush!

With direction he'd get the clothes right, and I know he'd pack my toothbrush. Everything else would be up in the air. He's never ever had to pack a bag for me, so I wouldn't expect him to get it right. I've packed bags for him many times, so I'd easily be able to do it for him. He's quite the minimalist.

I'm fairly confident that my husband would do a good job.
I know I'd have good outfits with the right undergarments and even matching shoes & jewelry because he likes to help me pick out clothes. Makeup and personal care items would be more hit or miss. I'd have the basics, but maybe not all the preferred specific items I would want.

i have no idea what mine would have packed. he mentioned that women at his work commented when he said he had to go home and pack for the cottage. they said "your wife doesn't pack for you?". i pack for me, three kids and all the "family" gear. no, i didn't pack for him. he told them he had to pack for himself and they were shocked. i was like wth?? what year is this? so i sweetly asked him if he explained to them that he is super picky and packs enough for a week and a half to go away overnight??

Mine would need explicit directions, and as he's color blind, even those wouldn't necessarily help.

My husband would do a good job; he'd pack all the clothes and most of the 'other' stuff I need. Since I am not 'high maintenance', I think it is an easy task: an outfit; toothbrush, toothpaste and floss; moisturizer; deoderant. I don't take medication regularly; I keep aleve in my purse. What else would I need? He'd probably also bring me snacks and a coffee. Despite evidence to the contrary (i.e., my size), he seems to think I'm going to starve to death.

He would pack everything I needed with no trouble. And he'd bring the book I'm reading as well.

Mine would ask 3 zillion questions over several phone calls/texts and then it would still be a crap shoot as to what would be in the bag! He can pack himself an overnight bag so that's something Hope your Dad is feeling better soon!

I highly doubt he would get much of anything I needed but I can guarantee. It will be packed in one of two ways....
Either a plastic Kroger bag or a gigantic wheeled duffel bag. Even tho I have a nice leather overnight bag he’s seen me use for years. That has a toiletries bag already in it that has duplicates of everything that I need.

He would pack exactly what I need clothing and toiletry wise. I doubt he'd get it right on the pharmaceutical side. I wear an insulin pump, and there's a lot of little pieces that go in to loading it up.

Do you want me to wear the too small of jeans from the bottom of the stack that really need to be given away? History tells me that I am better off just running into a Walmart and buying everything I need.
For example: Baby #3 came early. I went for a check-up at 8 and had a baby by 1030. He had to pack me a bag. LOL! Post baby the fool brought me jeans I couldn't fit into before being pregnant. He had to dig to the back of the closet to find them. His thought process was "pre-baby jeans." Yeah... baby #3 and he didn't get it. I ended up wearing what I wore into the hospital which was my business suit (I had a meeting following the check-up appointment. I didn't make that.) The whole bag was a joke. I think he got deodorant right. He would do awesome with a detailed and specific list.

I think he'd get the essentials (toiletries & meds) but miss the mark on clothes.

He's been through intense training and takes his job seriously. He can pack me for a week long trip in less than an hour. Usually not many mistakes but he jacked me up last month and didn't pack foundation because he thought I'd be by the pool most of the time.
Dinner didn't cross his mind. ha

He'd get the toiletries right, as I keep a separate bag for those ready to go. Clothes would be hit or miss. Medications would be a problem - as he's proven already! Chips I hope your dad improves quickly.

He would pack what I asked for, with quite a lot of clarification needed. I have a wash bag that I keep stocked, and my cosmetics are all in one small bag so those would be grab and go. Clothes would be harder for both of us (thank you British weather). He would probably include a load of electronics that HE wouldn't be able to live without, but that I wouldn't need. Bless.
ETA: Actually I could just point him to the spreadsheet checklist on my laptop that I use myself. Then I would only need the requisite eleventy-billion texts to confirm which gold makeup bag (I only have one) I meant. We would both be equally likely to forget nightwear, because that isn't on the list.

Toiletries and cosmetics are always packed and ready to grab so thet part would be easy (after I told him where the bag is.). Clothes would be fine too. I think he would just pick something he sees me wear all the time, probably my Kitten Lady t-shirt!

DH travels for work frequently so he has it down to a science. For me....he is used to me giving him a list.
If he had to pack for me with no list, I think it would be 50/50, but I'm pretty sure the clothes he would grab for me would be an interesting mix. It's a great reminder to donate the clothes in my closet that don't fit. I have a feeling those are the outfits he would grab - lol

He can barely pack an overnight back for himself, so I voted he'd get 50/50 - but I'd have to give a lot of guidance.
