I think it's time for me to get off the internet for the next few weeks. I need to find some sanity and real life is just sucking right now. Self-care. It's more of a thing now than it's ever been. Take good care of yourself. Set boundaries. This is utterly exhausting and depressing. I know the feeling... last night I really, really didn't want to listen to the audio they had of the children in the detention centers, but I knew I 'should' listen to it. Added to all the other crap the Trump loyalists have in process right now, that heartbreaking audio was almost too much for me to handle. It truly IS exhausting.

I refuse to watch Fox news so I have no idea how this is being defended. How is any of this current clusterfuck being defended?

Trump is like a perpetual stroppy 2 year old when he doesn't get his way. He stamps his feet, throws his toys out of the pram and sulks. Lashes out at whatever takes his fancy at that very moment. There's been something seriously missing from his life that at 72 years old he can't bear the thought of people not worshiping him and thinking he's the best at everything he does. He's pulled out of the UN human rights council because they had the audacity, in his mind, to criticize his unacceptable policy of separating children from their parents. What a sad figure of a human being and a very disturbed one at that. Where is Freud when you need him? I have said before that trumps ID is stuck at a 2 year old level. Also, he is a narcissist and a sociopath.

where is Freud when you need him? I am sure he would diagnose Trum as having his ID stuck at 18 months.

Ted Cruz does not answer phone calls. So far, he has not responded to any of the emails I have submitted to his authorized website. Cornyn sends a form letter--but at least a response. I wonder if Cruz is feeling threatened--yesterday he suddenly has expressed outrage at the situation with the children and said he was submitting a bill about stopping the separation. We shall see what he really does. So far it has been kissing up to DT. Lyin' Ted is trying to play it both ways - support Trump but also work the angle that he represents a border state and an upstart Democratic Congressman who speaks Spanish better than he does, and is actually making an effort to listen to the people of Texas, is polling dangerously close to him in the reddest state in the union. His time is up. Literally no one likes him. He needs to toddle off and take up a job as a Fox News commentator instead of trying to act like he has the mental power to be in the U.S. Senate.

I refuse to watch Fox news so I have no idea how this is being defended. How is any of this current clusterfuck being defended? "If they wouldn't come here illegally this wouldn't be an issue." ~ Completely lacking in morals and compassion as well as ignoring several important facts including that no matter how they got here how we treat them is still on us, and that not all that are being separated were here illegally, some were seeking asylum in the correct manner. "It's all Obama's fault" or "this is being done because of the Democrats" or "the democrats can change this but they won't" ~ Self explanatory and again incorrect. Also important to note it is a way to deflect deflect deflect from the real issue which is our treatment of these families and children. And that Democrats aren't in control of the 3 branches. Or that the Democrats introduced a bill on the 8th and have all signed on. But hey, facts, who needs them? "It is like camp" ~ the lovely Laura Ingraham "They're child actors it is not real" ~ the even lovelier Ann Coulter Eta2: Thanks for the reminder katybee , this one is so good I thought it deserved an exact quote and a photo eta: Help a pea out, I know there is more but my brain is fried. BTW, you don't have to watch Fox, some of this has been parroted on this board.

Beto has polled consistently within fewer than 10 points of Cruz, which is far better than any Democratic Senate candidate has done in Texas in decades. I don't know if he can pull it out. A lot will depend on whether we can get the people who don't like Cruz to turn out in November. ETA: Chuck Schumer is not helping him. I know a lot of Texas moderates who won't consider a vote for a Democrat in national office as long as Schumer and Pelosi are running things for the Democrats. Personally, I wish our party would choose younger leaders who don't have all the Obama stuff hanging around them. Right or wrong, some people won't vote for someone who allies with those two.

Basically they are saying that the detained children are being held in what is just like "summer camp". I wonder if the Trump administrators and supporters would agree to send their children to such a camp?

I refuse to watch Fox news so I have no idea how this is being defended. How is any of this current clusterfuck being defended? STEVE DOOCY: CHAIN-LINK WALLS “You do see some fencing, but keep in mind ― some have referred to them as ‘cages’ ― but ... this is a great, big warehouse facility where they built walls out of chain-link fences,” Doocy said. He also pointed to blankets that some detainees were holding as evidence they weren’t being mistreated. “While some have likened ... them to concentration camps or cages, you do see that they have those thermal blankets,” Doocy said. LAURA INGRHAM: SUMMER CAMP! “Since more illegal immigrants are rushing the border, more kids are being separated from their parents and temporarily housed in what are essentially summer camps, or as the San Diego Union-Tribune described them today as looking like basically boarding schools,” she said on her show, “The Ingraham Angle,” on Monday. And then, of course, parroting every word Trump, Sessions and Nielsen say without fact-checking or questioning anything... Kids aren’t actually being detained, it’s all the democrats’ fault, it’s all Obama’s fault, it’s all traffickers who are going to sell the kids into slavery anyway, so we’re actually doing them a favor.

What a sad figure of a human being and a very disturbed one at that.I said somewhere (here?) that he is having a fit, taking his ball and going home. I like your words better. I hear them with a British accent to add to my pleasure. especially the pram part. I may steal. But seriously (unfortunately very seriously) he is an oversized, overaged, spoiled brat. He wants to seem secure but I often see him the exact opposite- always looking for recognition and admiration. The toddler is huge and fine with destroying anything thing that gets in his random toddling way. Yes, he is. (What a sad figure of a human being and a very disturbed one at that.)

The closest I've seen him is within 6, but I don't remember which poll that was. I am hopeful for upset but people have been surprising and disappointing me right and left lately so I'm trying not to get my hope up. I was one of those idiots who believed in my heart no way would we elect a reality show asshole as President and here we are...

Thanks @merge. I appreciate your take. It would be such a significant blue win and I want it so badly for your state and for the country. But I don't want to get my hopes up.
I wish too for younger leadership in our party. Hopefully that's on the horizon. I respect the work Pelosi and Schumer have done. But it's absolutely time for us to be led by the younger leaders of our party. New ideas. New approach. New voices. Just thinking about it gets me kind of excited and feeling hopeful, because I like what I'm seeing from a lot of Democrats. My gosh, I can't imagine having their jobs right now. Bless it.

I'm a little twisted that way

I've said it before: that man is a wannabe Hitler. Once, your country was a beacon of light...now it is just terrifying to see where you are heading. Yet I'm willing to bet that should your country (or any other Trump-hating country) need US help or dollars, they won't care a whit about whether or not we are a "beacon of light". They will gladly use us. Why don't you take your shit back to your safe space litterbox? Seems that "happy" marriage isn't keeping you very busy these days... You can come back under whatever pseudonym you like, but your hateful, bitter, racist core always leaks out of the gutter you call a conscience.

No, the truth about how other countries use this one. It infuriates you which is why you feel the need to go on a personal tirade. Frothing at the mouth. But no matter how much you try to deflect by using personal attacks, it's still the truth. And that pisses you off to no end. Now breathe Inked Up. Get some oxygen to that brain so that it thinks straight. Thatta girl.

It must drive you crazy to know that this "spic" (as you so eloquently called me once) is smarter and better educated than you could ever hope to be. I wasn't frothing. Merely commenting on the shitty stench that follows your dead soul around. Unfortunately, your omnipotence has failed you. You are wrong about what you say being the truth, and you're wrong about why I am annoyed by your bullshit. You can fancy yourself a bastion of truth all you want, but all I see is the sad old hag who has haunted this place for years. At least now you leave Alan Rickman out of it.
