---Becomes more and more clear how the people stood around when Hitler gained power. Will our Congress ever do anything to stop this man? Will citizens have to grab pitchforks and torches and rush the White House?

Don't forget there are still 40% or so of the population that think everything he does is just dandy. I thought UN disapproval was going to end with us leaving the UN. He won't rest until (1) he's running a complete dictatorship or (2) we rush the White House with pitchforks and torches. gahhhhh.

And I live in Texas, so no one in "my" government will listen to a damn thing we have to say. I feel so utterly impotent. I know the things I do matter, but they're just not enough, and I just don't know what else to do. I am truly at an utter loss here.

I've said it before: that man is a wannabe Hitler. Once, your country was a beacon of light...now it is just terrifying to see where you are heading.

Will our Congress ever do anything to stop this man? Will citizens have to grab pitchforks and torches and rush the White House? and will the citizens or Congresspeople who try to do so be jailed / stopped by the ones who still support him? I can't believe anyone in good conscience can still support him and his isolationist tendencies, but apparently that's because I'm getting my head filled with the rabid left-leaning sensationalist media sources, and I'm not getting the 'full' picture. I despair very much for the future of our country right now.

Surprised they haven’t kicked us out, after this immigrant children situation, among others. Maybe Trump is just trying to beat them to the punch.
I’ll join you with the pitchforks and torches. It’s going to come to that soon enough.

Yep. You disagree and criticize trump and he cuts you off and quits. I fear that it has to get much, much worse with this administration in order for it to get better.

I'm also in TX and my representatives don't represent a freaking thing for me. And when I do contact them, I get condescending replies from them.
I think it's time for me to get off the internet for the next few weeks. I need to find some sanity and real life is just sucking right now.

Yet I'm willing to bet that should your country (or any other Trump-hating country) need US help or dollars, they won't care a whit about whether or not we are a "beacon of light". They will gladly use us.

I did this for the first time this weekend. I did 10 of them in a relatively short amount of time. It allowed me to be creative and feel like I was doing something about this clusterfuck at the same time... Those who still like to create and want a project perfect for an introvert, look in to this: Postcards to VotersI really can't believe this is where we are right now. We got ALL LIVES MATTER in response to Black Lives Matter. But they clearly don't believe that either. With some, the only lives they seem to value are their own. It continues to be shocking and heartbreaking.

According to Nikki Haley the US is leaving because of the council's anti-Israel bias. The entire organization shows an anti-US and anti-Israel bias.

I've been attending rallies (Families Belong Together last Thursday) and will be attending a vigil tomorrow put on by our local Interfaith Coalition. I've been researching organizations on the ground helping the families being torn apart and have found two that I will donate to: RAICES in Texas has been working with immigrants for 30 years offering free or very low cost legal assistance. The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights US 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization The mission of the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights is to promote the best interests of unaccompanied immigrant children with due regard for the child’s expressed wishes, according to state and federal law, and the Convention on the Rights of the child. They have been working on this since 2004.

Ted Cruz does not answer phone calls. So far, he has not responded to any of the emails I have submitted to his authorized website. Cornyn sends a form letter--but at least a response.
I wonder if Cruz is feeling threatened--yesterday he suddenly has expressed outrage at the situation with the children and said he was submitting a bill about stopping the separation. We shall see what he really does. So far it has been kissing up to DT.

We shall see what he really does. So far it has been kissing up to DT. From what I have been able to find his idea is to keep the families together while forcing the asylum process down to a 14 day window. At which point they are accepted or deported. To do so, he suggests doubling the number of immigration attorneys available. Oh yay I'm sure those selected will be fair and impartial and their positions will not mimick the current administration's zero immigration preference. Currant immigration attorneys think this is not really doable because it takes time to gather evidence, and a LOT more hours than there are attorneys available. At this point, to me it appears that the lack of time will negatively affect an asylum seeker's chance of being accepted, which is likely the goal.

We have gone from a leading nation that others looked to for help and support to a nation that other nations cannot stand, a nation that has disengaged with the UN and human policies, a nation that has put a negative spin on the middle east talks and trying to ease tensions, a nation that has written off trading with other nations. And a President that a lot of other world leaders cannot stand. I too worry how bad off we will be 2 more years out when we can attempt to get him out.

Trump is like a perpetual stroppy 2 year old when he doesn't get his way. He stamps his feet, throws his toys out of the pram and sulks. Lashes out at whatever takes his fancy at that very moment.
There's been something seriously missing from his life that at 72 years old he can't bear the thought of people not worshiping him and thinking he's the best at everything he does. He's pulled out of the UN human rights council because they had the audacity, in his mind, to criticize his unacceptable policy of separating children from their parents.
What a sad figure of a human being and a very disturbed one at that.
