I have been thinking about the time i spend in my car and think it would be so great to listen to books instead of the radio sometimes. Is this enjoyable for you?
Thanks, Paige.

Unfortunately I'm one of those that can play a book and obviously hear it, but I don't retain what they were talking about. Hard to describe. So, no.

Yes, but easy, uncomplicated nothing that requires a lot of concentration unless it's a road trip. Humor is good, motivational or very simple plot. YA can be good. I also listen while I scrapbook and sometimes if I can't sleep.

Yes - I listen to books a lot in the car, especially on long trips but even day-to-day commuting. I love to read but don't really have a lot of time for it so listening to books works great for me.

All the time! It especially makes cleaning/gardening/anything tedious better. Podcasts are good too.

I have tried listening to novels but I found myself thinking of other things and totally missing what was going on so it didn’t work out for me.

Yes, from time to time. I just finished Stephen King's The Outsider, and I've started The President is Missing. I mostly listen to Podcasts, so I frequently cancel and restart my Audible subscription since it gives new credits too frequently for me.

Yes, love them. I wouldn’t get through any fun reading without audio books.

I’ve never tried. I do listen to podcasts in the car but I noticed that I don’t really pay attention to it 100% and miss things. I would think the same would happen if I tried audio books and I would be constantly rewinding. Lol.

My son and I listen to audiobooks in the car. It’s not my preferred way to consume a book but it’s fun to listen together and talk about it. We usually stick with non-fiction as they’re easier to stop and start than novels. We're currently listening to The Idea Factory about Bell Labs and it's great. I've read it before and highly recommend it. He's really into too, which I love. I tend to listen to podcasts when I'm driving alone or doing work around the house. I listen to music during work. I can't concentrate on both my work and the spoken word of audiobooks or podcasts.

DH does. He listens to several books a month. But I find that my mind wanders and I miss things. Podcasts are better for me, for whatever reason.

I do every day for the most part. I listen while working (I work alone at home so it gives me something to pass the time) and I listen if I'm having trouble sleeping. I have sleep headphones and will put a timer on. I have a hard time turning my mind off so it helps with my insomnia.
When I first started listening to audio books I had an Audible subscription. I found it very pricey (more than buying the actual book) so I now have Overdrive. I have my library card connected and borrow audio books for free from my local library.

Yes! It's my only opportunity for reading these days. I have a long commute to work each day (hour and a half total) so it makes the drive worthwhile!

I don't listen in the car, but I listen during the day while I work. I find most of them enjoyable, though there have been a few narrators that I just couldn't bear to listen to. I've also found I really don't enjoy it when authors narrate their own books for some reason.

I do Podcasts instead. Like others have said, my mind wanders too much to track a book.

I used to listen to audiobooks on the bus to and from work and at the gym. I limited myself to only those times and really enjoyed them then. It kept me motivated for sure. I would like to listen again sometime to see if I can remember the storyline.

Yes! I just figured out how to check out audiobooks from my library with an app on my phone. I listen to them when I have to drive, but now I listen to them when I walk, do yard work, etc. I have really been enjoying them, especially if the narrator is good. I listened to a bunch of Fredrick Backman's books - A man called ove and Beartown and they were excellent!

No, I try not to do things that take my focus off the road when driving.

I have, a lot, especially when working on a big project, but lately I've been listening to podcasts more.

love it! I listen in the car, on planes, any place I am waiting for more than 15 minutes, when I craft, when I am just relaxing.... I listen on my phone and my tablet. Love it in my car- makes long drives enjoyable!!! My eyes are often tired at the end of a day and while I still enjoy a real book- I am so happy with audible books!

I listen to audiobooks in my car all the time. I have a 90 minute round trip commute, at a minimum. My stress level went way down when I started doing that.
I get them at the library.

No, I don't. I would zone out and completely miss everything so I don't bother. Besides that, I'm usually talking on the phone to my husband anyway in the car (handsfree - Blutooth).

I love to listen to audiobooks in the car and while doing housework (let's face it housework is boring!) or cooking. I drove home from So CA to No CA yesterday by myself and the audiobooks kept me sane and alert. I also commute an hour each way and I've gone through a lot of audiobooks. I download most of mine through my library to my phone.

Yes! I love them! I've found that listening to audiobooks at work really helps my concentration and keeps me from getting distracted. (I'm working on blueprints on a computer all day.) I also like to listen while I'm painting. I would like to listen while I'm cycling but I'm too afraid I wouldn't be able to hear a car behind me.

I fairly recently started listening to audiobooks when I'm in the car. I'm listening to the Harry Potter series, I'm on Goblet of Fire right now. I've seen the movies (some of them several times) since I last read the books, there are so many little changes I'd forgotten about. I'm probably going to drive to Nebraska in about 10 days so I'll get in lots of story time.

what do you think of Dennis Quaid’s narration? I like it so far. I think he sounds Presidential. which is good in this case. I enjoy rougher male voices when I am listening to an audio book. This book is interesting because it has several narrators, each narrating for a different character (each chapter seems to be from a different character's perspective).
