(sorry for the long post!)
I've been participating the in 30 day Coloring Challenge (see this thread). And I completed all 30 days!
Yesterday, June 30th, I went to the Coloring Challenge Road Trip at Hero Arts. Sign ups for the event were back in April, long before I committed to the coloring challenge. It wasn't a class, but more of a meet up. We brought our own stuff to color and a few coloring mediums, like Copics, pencils, watercolors. Of course I brought enough stuff for a three day crop and hardly got any coloring done. LOL! If I go to another one, I would only bring one coloring medium and a few items to color.
Anyway, the day started with Kathy Racoosin introducing herself and talking a bit about coloring and her tips. She took us in small groups of 8-10 for an hour or so for a demo of how she colors, lots of tips, and a few tricks. Aaron, the owner of HA, gave us a tour of the facility and talked to us about the history of HA and how they've changed their processes to become a "green" company. It was really interesting, especially since I have background in manufacturing. We were able to shop in the HA factory store. We received a goodie bags with a stamp and die set, a LF stamp shammy, a sequin mix, a full-sized HA Intense Black ink, and more. Quite a few cardmaker/bloggers were there that we met and chatted with. (not naming them in case I leave anyone out). And, we saw a full peek at the new MMH Kit that's being released tomorrow! I was kind of on the fence about it until I saw it in person. Oh, and coffee, donuts, lunch, and water were all provided. All for $35! And most of that supports a local charity cause, in this case it was an art organization.
Libby, Debbie, Joan and the rest of the team at Hero Arts were really nice. I'm so glad I attended.
If you're a card-maker or colorer, and you have a chance to go to one of these, I'd recommend it. Here is a list of the upcoming dates which may or may not be sold out and a bit more about the "Road Trips".
