I've added the December 1942 issue of American Cookery to my blog Sugar and Fat. You can click on any image of a page to enlarge it, and then you can page through the magazine in the reader when the image is enlarged. This is an especially entertaining issue, with Christmas desserts and holiday menus for wartime. You can find other issues listed in the archive at the left. Thanks for looking! This is amazing! Thank you so much for posting these. Some of the recipes are really horrifying, but I love the articles. The soup poem was a riot. I will read more tomorrow!
Thanks again!

Make the recipes and then post yourself or a child taste testing them on youtube!! I really do want to test some of these old recipes but my summer has been too busy so far. I have a few earmarked for when my nieces who love to cook visit in a few weeks.

Fascinating! I have a stack of old Sears wish books stashed somewhere. Not quite as fun as looking at the old recipes, but still a lot of fun to flip through.
