Recently my Walmart has been renovated and they added hot food to go I believe I've been buying the combo basket that you can pick 3 things you want popcorn chicken, big strips of chicken and wedges etc. The popcorn chicken after a while it taste kind of like fish but that's just my opinion. The chicken strips are good they taste like other places that cost 6$ for 3 strips. Its a good amount of quantity for the price. The wedges are fine but I rather get two sections of chicken strips and one of popcorn chicken. This was my first post so lets hope its good!

Do any of you have a hot food to go at your Walmart?

We have always had hot food at our Walmarts. Our boys enjoy the chicken strips and popcorn chicken. I use to like the fried and rotisserie chicken but they changed the recipes and now I think they are just ok. I don't think we ever had the potato wedges.

I have seen the produce back rooms, deli, and meat prep areas in more than a few Walmarts. I hardly ever shop there, but if I do buy something, it's strictly dry or canned goods.

brabronacus, my local Walmart added on last year and we have hot food available. On a whim, I purchased the Pick Three which sounds like what you're talking about. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was so fresh. We've tried: the chicken strips which the kids love and like you said is comparable to other places; the popcorn chicken which has been good for the most part, has occasionally tasted like shrimp like you commented so I'm guessing they probably cooked it in the same oil; the popcorn shrimp which doesn't have a lot of flavor, but not bad; the fried mozzarella which is okay when it is still hot, so we don't get them in the bucket just singly; the General Chicken was mildly seasoned and would make a quick meal if you made some rice and broccoli to go with it; potato wedges weren't warm the two times we got them so we won't get them again; the fish was nice and would make a great sandwich on a nice roll - it's no longer available.
Welcome to the board brabronacus. I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts.

I worked for WallyWorld back in the day when they sold hot dogs/popcorn/frito pie type things. Never ate there. Can't bring myself to eat at Costco's window food either. Would rather go to a real restaurant (even Sonic or something!)

I haven't seen anything like that here. I try to avoid Wal-Mart but I do go to buy cleaning supplies and household items and sometimes groceries. Their produce isn't as good as I can get elsewhere but it seems to have improved vastly over the years. I don't think I'd buy any hot food items there because I'd rather make them myself or get them from a restaurant

Walmart chicken tastes and smells like Walmart. I've only had the cooked chicken which was fine. The smell at Walmart that grosses me out is the Subway Restaurant. I think it's the rolls baking.

We have a Walmart that is about 15 minutes from the lake where we store our boat. We get that three pack also. The strips are good and so are wings.

Had some VERY tasty fried chicken from a local WM Supercenter a while back, and I'm picky about my chicken. My small Walmart Express has a hot food kiosk and I've heard lots of positive comments about their rotisserie chicken, but I haven't tried it.

Walmart's Market of Choice had samples of their ribs. I hate to admit they were good. Really good.

OP, (that means original poster or original post) there are some real Walmart haters here, so pay no attention to them. My local Walmart has a hot deli area and the 'Pick 3' is a very popular item. I buy from that area a lot but have never purchased the Pick 3. I love my Walmart, it is the best store in my town, clean, tidy, and with wonderful people working there.
ETA: Oh, I wish we had ribs. I bought them frequently when I worked at Sam's. And I love the delicious aroma from the Subway franchise in the store.

We just moved and there is a super Walmart really close. It is actually really nice they have hot food but I usually go early in the morning so I think the stuff I see is leftover from the day before and it doesn't look appetizing. They have a heater thing up by the registers and it is on and hot but I never see food in it. I just don't know if I could bring myself to buy fresh made food there even though the store looks nice and clean.

I've only purchased whole roasted chickens there, and they were very good. Though I do think the ones from SAM's are a bit better -- a bit bigger.

Scrapper 100, the food is all cleared out at 9 pm when the deli area closes and is not put out again.

I've also seen them checking temps with thermometers. At our store it does seem like they are making every effort to make all of the grocery areas nice. It's possible that it is good because it's so new. We'll still keep getting it as long as the quality stays good.

The stuff here is fried in the same vat. I am very sensitive to seafood, so I had only smelled it . Really at our store it smells like the store, not like yummy fried chicken smell.
My husband is the one that says it tastes like the store.

I like their popcorn chicken and popcorn shrimp. The potato wedges are ok, and the chicken strips are ok. But what I go out of my way to buy is the general chicken. I just love their general chicken. The orange chicken is ok too!

The Walmart I usually go to has hot food but I have never bought anything. It seems like it is almost all fried and I don't eat much fried food. If I want rotisserie chicken, I buy it at Sams that is next door.

My kids like the popcorn chicken, and I've tried it as well as their fried chicken. I've had better, but it's not bad and the price is good!
I don't shop there often because it just isn't convenient and winco is cheaper...but if I'm there, I will sometimes grab some.
Welcome to the board!

Mine has a fried okra that I really like.
I find most places that fry a variety of things use the same fryer for everything so there is a lot of cross flavoring going on.

Dh had bought it a few times, and he liked it. He did say, though, at our Walmart, it went from 3 items to 2 items and a side for the same price.

The rotisserie chicken was tasty, but too salty for me. I prefer Costco's.

My Walmart has hot food. We also get the pick 3 (just got it last week), my hubby likes their fried chicken (got a big box a couple weeks ago for a birthday party) and I used to buy the roasted chicken all the time.

We've tried it on multiple occasions and liked it every time. Always fresh, always hot - so it is just as any other place you risk getting food prepared by others.
We have always had friendly assistance at our Deli area at Walmart also.
