I'm reading that Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has resigned amid Brexit negotiations. Can someone explain what that means for Brexit and for the government?

The short answer, who knows. The Tories have wasted two years so far agreeing that they don't agree.
The Tories are a party divided on what exactly Brexit actually means and what the future relationship with the EU should look like. Theresa May only governs as a result of a deal with the Northern Ireland party, the DUP. Her ability to push her ideas through are tempered by the lack of a big majority not just in Parliament but within the her own party. Boris was most definitely a thorn in her side. I can't stand him. He's a great one for lobbying grenades but has very few ideas of his own. I think he is doing this with his own future in mind. His eyes are definitely on the role of future Conservative leader.
