I can't post this anywhere else because I don't want to worry anyone.
My SO has been in the hospital since Friday. He has cellulitis in his left leg. He has been on IV antibiotics and will be even after we go home (he'll come back once a day for a super dose in a mid-line). It has been painful but up until today, he has been able to work past the pain and get up, walk around, use the bathroom, etc. Today he is horizontal. He has tried to get up, he even got some stronger pain med (he's been managing with Tylenol), and tried again. Nada. The pain is more than he can handle. I have never seen him like this, he is a very strong man, and stubborn, and has a high tolerance for pain.
I have to admit, it scares me. I'm afraid that there's something else going on with his leg. All of his bloodwork has come back fine, he is on a "therapeutic" dose of Warferin and that is fine. There's another blood test that they do to check for clotting too, I can't remember the name of it... anyway, it's fine too. They might do a scan tomorrow just to be 1000% sure. He says the pain isn't like when he's had a clot though, so there's that too.
He says it's like holding his leg in flames. The coloring and swelling have gone down a lot since we got here, but the pain has increased.
Would the Peas please send good vibes, prayers, good juju... whatever your beliefs are... for Jerry. For the pain to go away. For the Nurses & Doctors who are treating him to know how to proceed with his treatment.
I have been right by his side and done anything he needs to help him and make him comfortable but I'm scared. I have done my best to hide that from him, he doesn't need to worry about me worrying about him, he just needs to focus on getting better.
Monday Afternoon:
THANK YOU for your thoughts and prayers!! They ended up doing an MRI this morning and found no hidden infection. They are sending us home. His pain is being "managed" with oral meds and they are sending us home with some. He can lay in bed or on the couch at home just as easily as here and it won't cost a couple thousand bucks a day. LOL
