No matter how much I don't like a layout.. BUT I did yesterday.. I hated hated a page I did a million years ago. I hated the outcome from the very first time I did the page. It was awful.
It was a picture of me and my girlfriend at the time having a garage sale. I had 2 kids at the time and she had 3. I snapped some pictures of us and the kids.
I had a scrapbook paper that had a house on it. It was made by Current. (remember Current?). It was almost like a cartoon page. The house was a solid yellow and there was a door on it and roof.. some trees around it. Very simple. I cut the house out of that paper onto a solid paper and THEN this is where it went bad.. I took each of the kid's picture and cut around each kid!!! OMG.. I was trying to recreate their Kool-Aide stand and try to make it look like they were sitting around it. OYE.... every time I look at that page I cringe.
Last night as I was going through my books (to be sure I have dated, added names, see why I have missing spots..lol) I decided right then and there to rip it up! I took the pictures off and got rid of that page... my dilemma was how to use these teeny tiny pictures of kids... I finally came up with a design, nice and simple.. I gave each kid their own little square mat... and back in the book.
I feel SOOOOO much better that page is gone. There are other pages that of course are just signs of the time.. I'm not changing those.... but yeah.. I had to change this nightmare of a page.. LOL
Anyone else?

I have scrapped duplicates of PICTURES in different ways, but have never completely redone a page, other than tweaking it before it goes into an album.

I don't re-do pages either as a rule...but I've had a few pages fall apart (adhesive failed) and colours fade/change (not sure if it was the adhesive or the cardstock) and as I find those, I do re-do them

I plan to redo a bunch of pages, but it's really low on my scrap priorities list. Maybe in 20 years or so.

Like you, I generally have a rule that I don't redo pages. But, I have done one or two that I still hated when I looked back at them.

I do it all the time. I know it's a golden rule with some so you can see the progression, but if I'm looking through my albums and a page makes me cringe, I rip it apart and do it over!

I've done that but not on purpose... hahahaha.... I'll look through my book and think.. Ut oh.. I have already done that picture... then I try to have them side by side... lol.

I have only ever redone ONE page - hated it, so years later redid it. However, when I redid it, my style had changed - and was nothing like the CM style pages before and after the 'new' layout
I will admit to scrapping the same photo at different times, then realising afterwards - but like both pages, lol

I had a similar experience with my "Creative Memories class" page. It was Easter 1994 and 7 days before ODS was born. I was round as an egg, and I cut every photo out in the shape of an egg and then sticker sneezed Mrs. Grossman's flowers all over it. It got the best of me eventually and I re-did it.
Of course, I {secretly} want to re-do every page in a CM Album that I ever did.... #retirementgoals

I had one where I’d used big stars as the pictures’ frames. I remember I’d cut the stars out with my Culuzzle. About a year later I thought it looked awful and I took off the giant stars and replaced them with regular frames. Much better.

I will say, in the future if you (or really anyone) re-scrap a page, consider taking a scan or photo of the original. Print a 4x4 or 4x6 of it and either tuck it behind the LO or back of the book! Those kitschy designs are a little more endearing when you are looking at a 50 year old book, rather than a 20 year old book. 20, even 30 years, is just too modern to be retro, but too old to be stylistically relevant.

I rescrap pages ALL THE TIME. Not if the style isn't "on trend", but if I see it and wince EVERY TIME, then I redo it.
Have always been happier after the remodels.

I don't re-scrap pages either. Except for one. I was at a crop and sick as dog and I hated that page when it was finished and still hated it 3 years later. So I ripped it apart and re-did it a couple of months ago. I am so glad I did! I'm very happy with the re-do!

I have no problem redoing a page if I just don't like it, if I think I can tell the story better (or at all if I re do my oldest pages), or if I have rejigged my album and the original pages need to be reworked to fit (like when I took 4 albums for a 4 week vacation down to 2 albums). If I look at my Flickr gallery I can see half a dozen layouts on the first page that are new versions of older pages, and a couple of possible contenders for future re dos.
Right now I'm scrapping because I enjoy the process and to record the stories. I've never really understood the idea of keeping pages as a record of my progress; I scrap frequently enough that I will have plenty of other pages made around the same time which feature many of the same techniques, supplies, and overall style. And I just don't see the point in keeping something that doesn't make me happy. Sometimes I think the value of the page is in the making rather than the long term preservation.

i have never gone back and completely ripped a page up and started from scratch but i definitely have rescrapped photos (sometimes on purpose, sometimes not) and just a few days ago had a page that was being a shit so i ripped it apart right then and reworked it. still sucks but at least i don't hate it and am not embarrassed by it now.
i say it's your album, your pages, your life and you can do whatever you want!

I have scrapped duplicates of PICTURES in different ways, but have never completely redone a page, other than tweaking it before it goes into an album. I sometimes scrap a group of pictures 12 times for each of my grandchildren. Im doing that today with dgd wedding. Every cousin wiil get a few pages specific to them. I only remember throwing a page away 1 or 2 times but I have done it. Usually I realize it's bad before I'm finished and get the undo out.

I feel SOOOOO much better that page is gone. I ALWAYS redo pages, especially anything that makes me cringe or feel embarrassed. I don't give a fool's flip about posterity, showing growth in the hobby, no one of it. I am not talking about just using old supplies. I am talking about cringeworthy photo mutilation and make do papers and just plain old crap. I had done my son's entire baby book on pastel cardstock. I had collected so many totally awesome baby and toddler papers and embellies. I redid the entire book. Now I can show it to anyone and not feel ashamed. I am about to redo my completely coluzzled wedding album. I will reuse what I can and pitch the rest. I am going to mat the wonky cut photos into rectangles to try to salvage them. I completely admire your willingness to redo a page you hate. With so much fabulous stuff to scrap with over the past few decades, there is no need to hang on to those pages that make me want to flip past them and not even look. BTW, I am not talking about layouts that use some old product or techniques, especially for people that started scrapping in the heyday. I'm talking about the early scrapbooking that is truly crapbooking. I still see old ladies at my crops doing it and they love it but I don't.

I have definitely redone a page. I also go back to earlier pages (I started scrapping in 2001) and added things to them. My first pages were really cardstock heavy and pretty flat. I've gone back and added some more patterned paper, a die cut, enamel dots, etc. I've also removed epoxy embellishments that have curled up and yellowed (I hate epoxy).
I have pages from 15 years ago that are missing journaling and I don't have the faintest idea what to write. I definitely need to go back and try to add some journaling and dates to pages.
I'm glad to see other people have unwittingly scrapped the same photo twice. I thought I was the only one who did that. I usually like both pages, too, so both go in the scrapbook.

I’m right there with you. Even if I don’t love a page I figure done is better than perfect. You can’t live ‘em all anyway, right?! But I absolutely cringed at one of my first pages and eventually redid it.

I am surprised (and secretly happy teehee!) to see that many of you would and have redone pages because of their cringeworthiness.
A few years ago most people would have said, "No way. I would never redo a page that is done." I'm happy to see more people on my side of the field!
To me it's like if I did the painting on the right first and then was able to redo to be the picture on the left!

I really don't think I have any rules. My good sense tells me not to redo any pages until I am caught up with 2002-2008 though.

I would never tear up, "redo", or throw away an old page. I would always keep the original. BUT, if I had a pic that I REALLY wanted to highlight again, I certainly would scrap it, again.

Well this is very abnormal for me.. even my very first pages I won't redo.. I do like to see how far I have come.. but this page was just downright bad. Not bad as in Creative Memories let's cut our picture up into stars bad but bad as in B-A-D...

I have never re-done a page. I think because like you said, it's a sign of the times and to me, that's what scrapbooking is all about. That being said, if I did see a page I totally disliked and hated, I probably would re-do it and keep it that way!
