I have been sitting here in my well stocked craft room and haven't done anything in months and months. I even have pictures printed yet here I sit surfing this site looking for motivation and procrastinating.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to get out of rut. I made a couple of cards a few weeks ago hoping that would kick start my creativity again but nothing.

I look around on Pinterest or here until I see a layout I think I can do and then just go for it!
I didn't scrap for a couple years and just got back into it. I've been churning out layouts like you wouldn't believe!

Do you have an LSS nearby that has Friday night or Saturday crop time? Or any scrappy friends to get together with? The buzz of being around people who are doing something similar is always motivating to me.

Maybe start small.
Choose a set of photos you like and lay them out on your desk for a page or two. Leave them there.
If you think of an idea or two for a title, write it on a sticky and put it by your photos.
If you think you have pp &/or cs that will go with the colours or the theme of those pics, pull it out, and fan it beside or behind your photos. Leave it all there.
Dig out some stickers or diecuts that go with your theme. Maybe some enamel dots or gems or puffy icons. Use your electronic cutter to cut a piece or two. No pressure.
If you think about the journaling that would go with them, tell that story, either in writing on a card or type it into the computer.
Meanwhile, scroll through Pinterest for scrapbook pages with a theme like yours. Look through our Gallery looking for pages that fit your style. Then seek out other pages by the same scrapbooker. Watch some YouTube videos, but just for relaxation.
One day, you will walk by that desk, and all those elements will form themselves into a page or two. And hopefully you will rediscover the FUN of creativity!

What did it for me was an online crop. There were challenges and some games, it lasted a weekend, and got me scrapping again. Maybe take a look at some of the challenges here. Maybe choose one that seems doable and build from there.

Pull out a set of photos and put them on your kitchen counter. Every time you walk by think about what title or paper you could use. Start small.

Don't be too hard on yourself. We've all been there, sometimes the creativity just isn't there but then we feel the guilt that we're not using our craft rooms eh I would definitely look at Pinterest and find something I wanted to scraplift, or a sketch to follow if you're into those? Dig out a collection you loved and still have some left, using papers I love definitely gets me going, or order something new if you are able to do that. grammadee has great advice. That's how a lot of my pages come together. Just adding a bit here, a bit there. The best scrapbooking advice I ever got was from Shimelle in a class, she said 'just stick it down, if you don't like it, you can always stick something over the top of it'

I've been churning out layouts like you wouldn't believe! This is me too!  I had stopped for well over three years and just started again in May. One thing that worked for me was to pick up something I thought I’d want to use in a layout, for me this was a hexagon punch, then go on Pinterest and search for that. I ended up scraplifting, almost exactly, a page. That got me kickstarted and I went from them there. I still use Pinterest a ton for ideas by manufacturer, specific lines or number of photos.Â

I've had a few gaps and recently haven't scrapped in about 6 months because of a lack of pics and just wanting to do something different. As others say, don't be hard on yourself. Maybe start with some photos you really want to work with and go from there. When I'm lacking inspiration I usually choose something to scrap lift or a sketch to follow etc.

When my mojo disappears, I scraplift a page. You can look through the gallery here or on Pinterest.

join in on some of our challenges!
my best advice, though, is to start small. don't go to pinterest and pick out some elaborate LO with all the bells and whistles to scraplift; pick something more simple and easy. that way, you won't get frustrated trying to be a scrappy picasso, and just throw in the towel. i find once i get that first page over with, my mojo is on crack and i am like the energizer bunny, going and going.

I do one of two things...
1. decide this is not what I feel like doing right now and basically give myself permission to take some time off and not even think about scrapbooking. I am pretty confident I will always go back to it and it's fine if I take an extended break.
2. just make a page, going into it thinking this is going to suck but I just feel like making something. I would use pictures I like they don't need to have a story either and see what I pull together. There would be no pressure (that I put on myself) to make something spectacular.
On a side note, I get overwhelmed looking for inspiration and that will sometimes paralyze me from starting something. Taking a break from that sometimes makes it easier for me to get get back in the swing of things.

In August you can join a team and participate in some of the challenges. Set a goal for yourself.
What I do is find some pictures that I would love to scrap, and that I know I have some great stuff to scrap them with. For me these photos are usually fun summer photos or even a holiday. Then pull those photos and the stuff you will sue to scrap them, find a clean space and sit down and do it!

Could you do a page or two from a kit? Where they literally give you the supplies and the layout and all you do is follow the directions? That always gets me back in the groove. I've gotten several kits from this company at Expos. There's a lot of detail so I find them pretty absorbing. I like how they turn out, and I figure that no one but me will ever know that it was a kit. SB Kits

About this time last year I didn't scrap for 6-8 weeks. I had plenty to do, just wouldn't do it. So I made a decision to scrap a little every day. Didn't matter how much - but at least some. It might be photoshopping a picture, cutting a title, or just pulling paper or embellishments for a LO. The point was to do something scrappy every day. Since October I have scrapped a little every day except one day I was sick. So it seems to be working. Many days I use my scrappy time to take a break from daily chores. Something else I decided to do at the same time was to make some type of scrappy note every day. I have an 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 three ring binder that I keep ideas in. I keep notes in there on LO's I want to do, embellishments that might work on a particular LO, title possibilities, sketch a possible LO, sometimes even the journaling. Yesterday when I was putting some cardstock away I ran across a piece that I thought would work well on a LO I want to do in the future (I don't even have pictures for it yet as it is one for my niece and nephew and their kids from their vacation this week) so I made a note for that LO. This seems to help me because when I actually go to work on that particular LO I already have a lot of ideas for that particular page. Just as a side note - I tend to get my best scrappy ideas while in the shower. And yes, I write them down as soon as I dry off.

Lots of great advice...I also suggest joining in on the team challenges here...the challenge sparks an idea and it has helped me be much more productive. Having all of the wonderful feedback and encouragement helps you feel as if everyone is scrapping with you regardless of how far away!! It's low pressure and lots of fun!!

Start with a picture. Scroll through your recent pictures and pick one/some that appeal to you. I find I get bogged down when I'm trying to do LO in chronological order or theme. New pictures are fun.
Then hit Pinterest for LO's with the same theme. Once you find something then scraplift it.
You might want to try a new technique. A while back I tried mix media for the first time.....it was scary at first but I LOVE the results.
Good luck.

I've felt the same way for the past several months. What is getting me interested is I finally reordered some pictures in a smaller size so I could use a 6x8 album that's been sitting in my stash for a very long time. I'm getting inspiration from some albums I've seen on Pinterest. Now all I need is some time. I'm sort on that lately, too.
