I posted in the scrappy randomness thread about this use for a template, but it could probably work for this, too. I have a few of the older Bella Blvd invisibles (think plastic school folders but way thicker than the cheapest ones) and cut one to make my own version of the Gina K wreath builder stencil. It worked really well...just had to cut slowly and several times (each time it finished, I would see how far it cut before unloading the piece and if it wasn't cut enough, I'd run it again. After the 4th try, there was just a tiny bit in the back that didn't want to cut through, so I followed the lines in the plastic and was able to cut through easily with a craft knife. If you can find a thick plastic (if you aren't familiar with the invisibles but know of the CTMH stamp plastic, it's similar) you can easily make your own corner using the Silhouette Studio software by overlapping 2 perpendicular long narrow rectangles into an 'L' shape and then tracing around the entire thing to make your cutting lines...then remove the rectangles from the mat (that's how I made my offset squares). If you felt the need for magnets, you could probably just set the existing ones on top because I used them on the stencil I created without any problems or you could just use a couple strips of washi on the edges where the paper isn't touching the stencil. Thanks for posting this. I think that your suggestion is the best yet. I don't have the "invisibles" you mentioned, but I do have stencil plastic that I have bought at one of the hobby stores. Based on your suggestion, I might try to make corners using stencil plastic and my electronic cutter. It would be easy to create a cutting file for corners, L-shaped guide, or whatever. Stencil plastic cuts easily in my Cameo. It's not as thick as what you describe, and it's not completely clear, but I have it on hand, so it's worth trying. I would probably cut multiples from the stencil plastic to make the corners thick enough. For part of them, I would make holes for the magnets to slip in. Next I would glue the layers with holes together using an appropriate glue for adhering plastics (such as GOOP or an epoxy). I would slip the magnets into the holes, then add one or two more layers without holes, and glue it all together. I haven't tried it, but it should work (in theory, anyway). Lining up the layers exactly might be a bit tricky, to make sure they line up evenly. Not being clear is actually a good thing. I tried with acetate at first (it was all I could find or think of at the time and most stencil material was only slightly thicker) but it came out far too flimsy and being see through made it difficult to see. I much prefer the frosted look of the invisibles.

I got out my stencil plastic. I think it is far too thin.
However, I also had some polycarbonate stencil in a 12x24 size that I had bought from Vinyl Outlet when I was on travel. It is thicker than the stencil material from the craft store, and it is a bit of a challenge to cut in the Cameo, but it does cut. I used an older blade, because I didn't want to ruin one of my new ones. I had to cut 3 times, 2 passes each.
I have not tried to make the corners. I decided to try to make a Build A Wreath template to see how well it cut, and I kind of got sidetracked....
The polycarbonate stencil has adhesive on the smooth side, which is the removable backing. The backing is hard to get off, until you cut it. It could potentially just be adhered to itself. One side is textured, but it does seem to stick to itself okay. It would take several layers to get the thickness of the acrylic corners, but I don't think it would actually need to be that thick.
The Build A Wreath template was just one thickness. I left the backing on and cut away the middle after I peeled off the 8 pointed center piece. It is at least the thickness of heavy cardstock, but sturdier.
My Tonic magnets held it in place, no problem. Then I decided to adhere the two sticky sides together of the center pieces that I had taken out of the Build A Wreath templates, just to see how the double thickness did. They stick with the Tonic magnets. The double layer doesn't hold quite as great as the single layer, but well enough, I think. The bar magnets work even better, although the bar magnets that I bought off Amazon seem like they might be slightly too thick for my clear stamps. They are slightly thicker than the Tonic round magnets.

Thanks for the update scrapnnana. I’ll play around with some different materials and see what results I get.

I posted about this in another thread - Hobby Lobby has these gauge rulers for knitting/crocheting: www.hobbylobby.com/Yarn-Needle-Art/Notions-Tools/Yarn-Tools/Yarn-Gauge-Rulers/p/80874596 I paid $6 with their 40% off coupon. I stopped and picked up a set today on my lunch hour. They are about 1/8" acrylic and open in the middle like a frame; the frame part is about 3/4". I plan on cutting the 2" at the corners and voila! Shouldn't be too hard to do; I already have a plexiglass cutter but a utility knife would work too. Just need to score a few times until it's cut over halfway thru, and then snap it apart. I don't think I'm going to bother with magnets. Thinking Scotch poster tape will hold them down just fine. Haven't decided yet if I want to cut the bigger ones to use as bigger corners or L-rulers. Although, it would be really easy to turn the bigger ones into 4 corners by making your cut 1/2 way down each side.

The magnet sheets I have don't seem to stick very well to the platform. The magnet isn't strong enough. The heavy weight, stronger magnet sheets I have don't stick either. Oh well. It looks like there have been some much better suggestions of things to try

Oh my why did I even open this thread? Of course I had to go straight to Amazon and buy a travel platform lol.

I bought the regular size TH platform when they first came out in the US. I had no intention of buying the smaller platform since I’m not a card maker. But I do use stamps to embellish or on smaller sheets for layering backgrounds. So between the rave reviews here and the sale at Joann’s I caved and ordered one. Can’t wait to get it and try it out.
I too have had an issue with the magnets. On small pieces of cardstock the magnets can get in the way of he stamp. I’d like to find something thinner. Thanks for the suggestions.

I received tracking for my order today and nothing appears to be backordered. Here's hoping that everything is in there when I get it, including the platform. I used to shop based on 'oh that's a good deal, I need that' and bought so much more than I could use. I still shop more than I craft (it's hard to find time with 3 kids constantly underfoot and my plans to scrap late at night just haven't come to fruition this summer...I got used to day crafting during this past school year) but I am much better about only buying things I love...that means if something is missing from my order, it's 100% likely that it will be something I am really excited to get, lol.
My Elle's order should be here Monday and the Joann's order will probably be here near the end of the week. I've missed getting such regular happy mail, haha! I wonder how much stock retailers and middlemen that sell to retailers have of the platforms. I'm hoping that there will be a reasonable supply to keep them available for the next few months at least.

I tried out my travel platform tonight. I really like the smaller size, and it works well!
