I ordered the travel one from Joann.com last night (all their scrapbook stuff is on sale for 40% off.)
Now I have it for when the "other one" dies.

Damn, that is just crazy to me. I am super disappointed that they might be working with her. I might just pick up a small one today on my way home before they disappear, I have a large one, but think a small one might be useful too. Does anyone have that one?

I have both sizes and use both sizes. I would get the small one if I were you.

I have both sizes of the TH, and LOVE the travel size. So much so that I ordered a spare last night after seeing the super disappointing update. To me-they are nothing alike at all, other than perform the same end result. TH has 2 open sides, a removable/reversible lid and a metal hinge. And the TH one is super sturdy!!

I’m glad you posted this. I had been putting off ordering. Pulled the trigger for both sizes just now.

Tonic’s full announcement can be read here: www.tonic-studios.com/pages/announcment071818They list the two current model numbers by name, so there is speculation that they may be able to release future models that will not be impacted by this. At least that’s the hope.

I’m really hoping the “working together” just means peacefully coexisting. After what My Sour Petunia has put Tonic and other companies through, I doubt anyone wants to “work together” with them. I’m really hoping the wording of this is just to appease MSP and doesn’t actually mean any kind of partnership or collaboration.

not sure I ever really needed one, but after reading this, maybe I should get one, just in case? lol.
I'm kind of surprised-- Tonic is the larger company here, and *typically* the larger company has better resources and would win out in a case like this.

I got my stamp thingy before I knew about the law suits. I use it on all my cards. I gave away all my blocks.

I refuse to purchase from My Sweet Petunia. This makes me want to go to a Tonic one just for kicks.

We're not a bitter and angry industry, so it could be that they didn't want that clouding their reputation even though it's all coming from that crazy chick.

But now I see how everyone is going out and buying up Tonic's Platforms. Which is great for them; more income, less inventory. Especially if they are going to come up with a new, improved model. Well, I'm hoping that's their tactic!

I don't understand how MSP was able to get a patent at all so it's very annoying to see the deal that has eventuated (although of course it doesn't affect those of us outside north America).

Right...if the printing press was patented, isn't she violating an already existing patent? Gutenberg's ancestors need to be suing her.

So, for someone who does NOT go to crops, is the TH travel size really worth having?
I have two of the TH full size one (one for me and one to share with a friend when she comes to craft with me).
Do I need the travel size, too? If so, please let me know a.s.a.p. so I can get my order for it sent in.

I'm tempted by the travel size. From a few reviews on amazon, it looks like several who have both sizes like the smaller one better.

TH's doesn't even have hinges, it's a rod! How did they get to the point of having to settle? I'm so annoyed by this outcome.

I have a feeling we'll be able to piece together the motivation if/when a joint product hits the market. At this point, it's all theory and speculation. What seems logical and makes sense to us might not to them.

I'm really surprised by this outcome. Doesn't seem like there would be much of case here, so maybe Tonic settled to just end the litigation and eliminate the possibility of a verdict against them. I'm off to purchase a regular and travel size TH platform....

question- why would I want to buy the full-sized one over the travel-sized one? I typically don't do stamping with LARGE stamps... why would someone want the full-sized one with the 8.5 inch platform??
(I'm talking myself into it, lol!)

I have a lot of background stamps that are 6x6. I like to load up and stamp as much as I can at one time. Bigger is better???

For once, I am glad to be a scrapbooker living outside the US! Looks like we'll still be able to buy here. If mine ever breaks or I decide I need the full-sized platform (currently only have the travel size).

Can anyone tell me how the Tim Holtz travel one compares to Hampton Arts one. I bought the Hampton Arts one right before it was pulled. I've had pretty good luck with it but the cover seems kind of flimsy. Sometimes the middle part of a stamp does not make as good an impression as the edges.

I’m more of a scrapper than a cardmaker so I own the bigger platform. When I do make cards the big one works fine for that. I won’t be buying the travel size so I guess I can always spend the money on a nice stamp set. I’ve had my eye on a couple. I have to keep my current platform well fed after all.

I only have the full-sized one so far and I like it for larger papers (you can let them hang over the sides without worrying about marks on your paper contrary to most other platforms). That's why cardmakers love the larger model.
I am leaning towards adding the travel format for convenience when doing Project Life though.

ETA: Got my travel size TH last night. Making time today to PLAY!!!!
