First the good news. Older dd, SIL and granddaughter moved out about a month ago. They found a very nice house that they are renting about an hour away. GD is in daycare full time and loves it (she's 4 by the way). SIL's job is, surprisingly, going very well, and he may even have an opportunity for a regular job eventually (he's working from home on a temp contract). DD just applied for and received a promotion! She started working for a vacation homes company 6 months ago and has been doing a bang up job as a housekeeper for them. She's now manager for the area that includes where we live and where she lives. We're very proud of her for that.
I think that's all the good news. I'm terribly worried about younger DD. Her health seems to be getting worse, and she is very very depressed and anxious. She is still in counseling. She'd been doing better. Not anymore. I'm concerned about hubby's health, but he refuses to see a doctor (he's having lots of upset stomachs). His elderly mother isn't doing well, which means lots of trips up to Vancouver to see her.
My dog, Ben, was very ill last week. He stopped breathing briefly at the vet's. He has a very severely collapsed trachea. He's on meds, and I think he's gonna make it. We were all so sad because, of the three dogs left in our house, he is by far the sweetest. And he's very stoic. He's a love.
My health continues to be a huge problem. Warning, TMI about to happen. I have terrible hemorrhoids. I also have both constipation and diarrhea (at the same time, not alternating). This has been going on for over 2 months. I have 3-8 BMs daily and each and every one is now painful. I'm at my wits end. I've tried so many things to get rid of the constipation, but nothing has worked, and now I can't do anything because my poor tush can't take it. I'm going to end up having to go to a specialist, I think, which I couldn't dread more.
I was recently in hospital for 6 days and nights. Got cellulitis around my implanted port. Had to have it removed. The IV antibiotics made my mast cell disease flare badly. I got a new PICC IV line. It now looks like I might have a slight infection around the PICC insertion site. So I'm on antibiotics again (I was also on them when I came out of hospital). My flares have calmed down, but I'm still dealing with nausea 5-6 days each week. I'm very very depressed and my anxiety is bad. I have zero desire to keep living like this. My only relief is sleep and I'm so freaking annoyed every day when I wake up. I feel bad even saying that as we lose people here who so very much wanted to live. But I wasn't born that way, I've never been like that. I'm just fed up of it all. I'm tired of hurting, tired of nausea, tired of not being able to do the simplest things without feeling like crap (going to the grocery store, for instance, usually ends with me feeling ill). I'm desperate to at least move out of this house if not away from Seattle, and hubby is dragging his feet on this. And I can hardly bear the sadness I feel constantly because of our younger DD.
I wish my update had more good news and less bad. Sorry for that. And to the one or two people who in the past have made unkind comments, usually regarding my daughters: don't. If you can't say anything nice just shut up. Because I have zero fucks to give at this point. And I'm hurting quite enough.

That's so much to deal with Zella 😟
The constipation / diarrhoea sounds like constipation with overflow to me. It won't stop until the hard plug of stools has been dealt with . I'm sorry I can't be more help .

I'm sorry I can't be more help . Yes. Loose stool makes its way around the hard, stuck stool. However I do have chronic diarrhea too, so there's that as well. And I can't treat the diarrhea for fear of making the freaking hard stool worse!

Butcher’s broom (-an herb) works oh so good on hemorrhoids. But you might not be able to take it. You could start taking Metamucil to keep regular.

Sorry you're having to deal with all this, well not the good stuff... glad you have some!! Google Fructose Malabsorption. I have it and it's exactly as you described. Eliminating gluten, dairy, and sugar helps tons. Good luck!

I am so very sorry, Zella. Constipation is horrible. Diarrhea is horrible. I cannot fathom what you are having to deal with enduring both at the same time. I went through a rough spell with constipation when I was put on all of these pain killers and just the memory of that ordeal has me shuddering in sympathy for you.
I finally have my system all straightened out after remembering a shake recipe I had my son on during his cancer treatments. One of the ingredients in it, Perfect 7, combats constipation. I think it would work for you since it also contains some sort of a clay thing that combines with the fiber ingredient to where everything works perfectly. But I would suggest you ask your doctor before adding anything like that to your already suffering body.
I am sorry things are looking rough in multiple areas of life for you, and I am thrilled that your DD received a promotion and that they seem to be on a great path right now. We just need to see that some positive swing in these other areas of your life. You deserve it.

Your good news really is so wonderful! And the fact that you can see it as good news and celebrate something positive is really great as well. I wish you daughter and son-in-law much luck in their new jobs and hope your granddaughter enjoys her new school! That is probably such a good feeling to know they're doing well!
I am so sorry for all of the health issues your family faces.

I'm super sorry about your bathroom issues. I'm guessing the meds you're on are responsible and there's probably nothing to do. So frustrating and awful. These things aren't ones you consider when you want to get better.
I am SOOOOO happy about your older DD. It sounds like things are really looking up for her and her husband and your cutie DGD. I hope that continues on that path.
I have a child with depression and it's awful. You want to do everything for them and you can't. You cannot change who the are innately. It sounds however, like you're right there with her all the time and that has to help. I hope she finds what works for her.
Here is the good news: Today is National Vanilla Ice Cream Day. My poor little munchkins never got vanilla ice cream because I thought it was too plain. Guess what every last one of their favorite flavors is? You got it.
Tomorrow is national Cousins Day AND National Tequila Day. I need to find one of my fab cousins and have a tequila with him/her. I hope you can have a virgin one with your cousin, too.
Hope tomorrow is better.

Has your doctor suggested anything for the impaction? Sometimes a bowel cleanse works wonders, even if it's a yucky thing to have to endure. Sorry for the TMI gang, but there isn't a nice way to phrase this stuff. I'm really sorry that you're still suffering.

Yay for good news! I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly, Zella. I had terrible hemorrhoids both of my pregnancies, and a peri bottle filled with witch hazel was my best friend. {HUGS}

Love you, Zella.
Are there any clinical trials for the mast cell disease that you might qualify for?

In general I don't do well with fiber. This weird constipation issue is a first. Never happened before. I've had very occasional bouts, but not this. I just checked and I probably can't use Butcher's Broom as it can raise blood pressure. Since hypertension is a huge issue for me, that wouldn't be good. Bummer.

drawkcab, thanks for that insight. I'll check into it. Lexica, thank you, another thing for me to check out. Really Red, sadly my sweet cousin whom I adore lives in England. Too far to just come for the day. scrapmaven I tried the Gatorade and Miralax prep. Didn't budge it at all. I did two enemas. A gentle one, and a harsh one. No results at all. Like I said, until I can get the pain issue fixed, I can't do any more of these things. flute4peace, thank you so much. I don't know about any trials. I'll check, though. Thank you to all of you, everyone who comments. It means so much to me. I did contact my dr's office and they sent in a Rx and are setting up a referral with a colorectal surgeon for me.

Elannah at one time posted that she was using barley tea.weak Licorice tea is good.
Unfiltered organic apple juice or cherry juice.
In nursing school we would scrap the apple peel and give that to patients with bowel problems.

Barley tea did work for me, true. Now I don’t know what works because I go 6 days a week many times a day. One day you will find something that will work.
Question: are you taking your pills everyday? With mental illnesses we lie and you know that. Promise me you are taking them and all of them ok?
