Are you sure that it’s eczema? Might be a good idea to see a dermatologist, just to be certain.

Use Cerave cream on it 3x a day. My DD has had pretty severe eczema for years and when she uses her Cerave religiously, it keeps flare ups in check. If she gets a bad flare up, we have to use prescription ointment. And, of course it would be a good idea to have a dr. check it out to be sure it really is eczema. Although the Cerave won't hurt anything if it's not. Oh, and avoid hot water in the shower. Use water that's as cool as you can stand.

Anything bland to keep it supple and keep moisturised. If it's a 'one off' time it won't matter too much, even vaseline at a pinch.

I like the eczema formula of Aveeno. I also moisturize every day without fail. Missing even one day seems to send it off the charts. It’s bad this year—I have it in places I’ve never had it before and have a dermatology referral now.

Lotion alone, unless it’s prescription, doesn’t knock down a flare up for me. I try to take a Benadryl, put on some cream that includes vitamin E, and go to bed. Covering the area so that I can’t scratch it also helps. I have to break the itch cycle internally and externally.

We use Aquaphor for my son's eczema. My daughter gets occasional eczema flare ups and this gives her the most relief. We found that Eucerine cream or the Walmart knock off of it helped too.
