I won't put any spoilers in the OP but wanted to know what others thought about the Season Finale of Younger.
The ending surprised me in more ways than one.
I can't believe we have to wait so long for a new season - aaah!

I knew she wasn't going to leave Empirical/Millenial! I thought it was a great season finale but I hate that this show takes such a huge break between seasons!! Ugh!!

I still can’t believe she didn’t leave, but I knew she’s wouldnt either. Their faces as they were holding hands and walking at end. Not happiness.
Scared? Still assessing.

Interesting episode. I can't wait for next season and wish we didn't have to wait so long - I hate the short seasons. It seems we are just getting into a season and it is over again.

I think they always have such good season finales. And let’s not forget the Josh cliffhanger😱. I really liked how Maggie and Josh’s friendship evolved this season. But I have to say I missed Josh-his storyline was on the back burner. But this finale sets up Josh to be featured more next season. #teamjosh 😜

Well I was surprised she didn’t take the job at Chick(y). I think the rivalry could have been good if they made it a friendly competitive rival not dirty backstabbing one. It seems like we’ll get less Charles now which is a bummer.
I also wonder if Hilary Duffs real life pregnancy will be written into the show.

Her outfits in the last episode made her look very pregnant. I think that the new lady will do something to break up Charles and Liza. I think that the baby momma might leave the baby and Liza will help Josh become a good daddy causing strife for Charles. JMO.

Okay I didn't get to watch till last night, so had to restrain from reading this thread. I figured something would happen that would keep her at her current job. Loved the bit with Diana, Enzo and the Fatberg! And OMG Josh's Irish wife showing up after all this time pregnant just after he had the hallucinogenic tea induced dream that he had a baby with Liza!! Wtf? Had totally forgotten about her. But you know what I didn't like was the oh shit what have we done look on Liza and Charles faces at the very end. It was like everything fell into place and then what, they'll have them be bored with each other? No fun without the secrecy? Ugh.

And Lauren and Maggie have been shunted aside in service of all the Charles lovey dovey stuff. No time to gather them all for socializing or at events, where Lauren shines. And I like 950nancy ’s theory about Josh/Baby/Liza. This is not the type of show I would typically like, but I came to it because of Sutton Foster and stayed because I so enjoy lots of things. But I’m not sure how long they can sustain the basic premise (unless the basic premise has morphed into an endless cycle of “Things look up for Liza, but events/people conspire to thwart her, somebody in her life is affected and angry, Liza apologizes and/or comes up with a scheme, and things return to an ever more unrealistic new normal.” ) #teamdiana

I think 950nancy nailed it! I love Josh and I hope to see more of him. He's such a natural and so easy on the eyes! I hated the last scene where Liza and Charles smiles faded quickly. The fatberg was hilarious! I wonder if Zane will end up with Liza's job at Chick(y)? I still want Zane and Kelsey to end up together. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing more of Martha Plimpton-Chick(y) creator. I think she adds a lot of zest.

Peter Herman (Charles) kind of addresses this on the last podcast. He speculates that this is probably the last season where they are constrained by their initial premise and moving forward it will be different.
I guess we will see.

Yeah, with Quinn spinning it about ageism for women, I figured Liza being 40 is going to be a non-issue next season.

Their faces as they were holding hands and walking at end. I know! That really got me - They seemed happy and then their faces changed...perhaps Liza is worried that he gave up so much for her and perhaps he is worried that he is taking a step away from his company. Josh's Irish wife showing up pregnant! I did not see that coming. I hope he doesn't do the sperm donor thing with Maggie's girlfriend..their relationship isn't all that stable and Maggie doesn't seem to want a baby so hopefully now that he seem to have a baby on the way, maybe the donor thing will go away. Diana and Enzo and the Fatburg - haha! I was glad she hugged him - so unlike her to get messy. I wonder when they will tell her the truth about Liza's real age - if they ever will. She's about the only person that doesn't know. What about Zane telling Kelsey he loved her (past tense). It will be exciting to see how Kelsey handles running the whole show.

It's called Younger Uncovered. If you are a fan of the show, it's such a fun one to listen to. It started just before this past season began, so the first few episodes are recaps of previous seasons. They are still great to listen to because the host interviews a lot of the writers and the producer so there is lots of insider info that they spill like how certain story lines came to fruition and how Peter Herman was not even supposed to be a regular on the show. Then when this season began they had one a week and it was mostly an actor/actress from the show as the guest. And let me tell you, one of the reasons this show works so well is they are all the nicest people and genuinely love working together. Oh, I have to share. Earlier this month I was in New York with my sister and we were headed through Battery Park to ride the Stanton Island Ferry and I seriously stopped in my tracks when I saw the Sea Glass Carousel. Needless to say, we had to ride it and that's only because I watch Younger that it became a must do activity

I have some basement cleaning to do that requires just this kind of entertainment. *As awesome as that carousel is (lucky you!), that scene, at least to me, signaled that the Liza/Charles pairing wouldn’t work in the long term. If you’re a Gilmore girls fan, it reminded me so much of that incredibly hokey episode where Lorelei and Christopher go to Paris. So idyllic that it’s unrealistic and doomed.

Loved so much about this episode, but hated the looks on the faces of Liza and Charles at the end. I like happy endings, even if I know turmoil will return to their relationship next season! Couldn't the writers let them be happy for even a little while?

I thought the same on Liza and Charles. Hard to predict. Part of me is still team Josh. He really does love her with no strings. That face Charles had sent thoughts of unsteadiness and not sure she is truly worth this. Not to mention he had the bubble request. Maybe no biggie but... Kelsey is ridiculous at times and I wish she would realize she is being unfair to the men who care for her. I really hope she gives Liza a raise and makes her head of the imprint, but doubt it. It’s insane Liza is still working for Diana. I am,glad Diana is happily with someone. As for Josh and his Irish wife, I think they will give it a go but it won’t work out. I think they will try to have a life together in his apartment above Inkburg but she won’t be happy and neither will he. My guess is Kelsey will find a cool place and let her friend move in. I don’t think Maggie will stay with her girlfriend. But wouldnt it be interesting to see Liza move out and move in with Charles? Maggie and her girlfriend move in together? Next season.

I think the smiles faded because this was the only season finale where you weren't dying to see what happens next. The characters can't be too happy if another season is staring. When something goes wrong or there is a cliff hanger, you are more likely to tune into the show the next season.
