I have my phone set up so I can see part of the message when someone texts me. I just got a text that says: "(209) 643-8797 Someone complimented you! See more on here: iOS: apple.co/ ..." I didn't list list all of the web address here so no one here could accidentally click on it. The rest of it was numbers. This is the second one I've got. I just deleted it, because I don't know who it was from. Anyone else getting these strange texts? I'm sure if I clicked on it it would probably do something like steal my contact list or other info. What a pain in the neck.

Yes, I get weird texts similar to that. I just delete and never click on anything.

sounds like something spammy to me... something to draw you in and click out of curiosity. nope, delete and move on!

Funny you should mention this--I just got one tonight as well. I haven't clicked on it and I don't intend to. I'll be deleting it right now.

That cracks me up. What? Someone complimented me so must click on the info. Clearly it works or they wouldn't continue to do it. I had it a few weeks ago and deleted it.

I got one too, and I googled it—didn’t click on it. I forget now what it was for but it was spam for sure!

Here is a Snopes link possibly explaining what you may have received. It denies it being linked to sex trafficking, but then goes on to explain where some of the text messages are coming from. Snope - Unsolicited Text

Snope - Unsolicited TextThis type of text may be targeting children. I can see where they would go ahead and click on the link without thinking. I can't say for sure because I don't know what the link goes to. Either way, it's fishy.

it's the IRL app trying to get you to sign up. One of your contacts joined and agreed that they could have access to their contact list- then they text you to lure you to sign up, too.
