Though it ticks none of my home buying boxes, for some reason this house came up in my Redfin recommendations today. And I clicked through the photos just because. Unremarkable, boring, whoa, that's a very blue kitchen, WOW they painted the fridge to match the cabinets, boring, boring, boring, WHAT THE HADES IS GOING ON IN THIS BATHROOM???, boring, unremarkable. lol - thought some peas might enjoy too www.redfin.com/OR/Portland/3400-SW-Sherwood-Pl-97239/home/25865344

Well, that one room could certainly either be really depressing or really motivating....

Whoa-that house COULD be a real stunner. The mirrored bathroom ceiling struck me as very odd. Everything is beige, beige, beige then BAM blue kitchen in your face!

I love that color blue! The fridge of the same color is a little weird.

I love that color blue! The fridge of the same color is a little weird. I like the blue, but think it's a little overwhelming for that much kitchen cabinetry, especially when everything else is white and beige.

Maybe the rest of house was originally more colourful and they made it boring to sell better... but got stuck with the kitchen because of the commitment to that blue fridge?

Is that an airplane in the bathroom??? (photo 25) ETA: that's a staircase. I thought it was a mirror and the reflection. Oops. Still weird. The house is mostly empty. Why is that stuff still there?
I assume the fridge is painted blue so it doesn't stand out as an appliance. But, weird...

Beautiful views. Good sized kitchen. The bathroom reminds me of the one from my honeymoon The difference in housing costs around the country always manages to surprise me.

There's got to be more wrong with it than an ugly kitchen and bathroom. With the location and those views I thought it might be. Everything except the furniture seems very dated and there are lots of awkward features. It's a good size, but the low ceilings make it seem smaller. It always amazes me that these bigger houses are built with such low ceilings, I'd go for a slightly smaller house and tall ceilings so I didn't feel so closed in if I had that kind of money.

I'm guessing when it was built, the downstairs was unfinished and has been finished in a rather shoddy manner. Houses that big aren't all that common around here - especially ones built in the '60s. I don't think high ceilings were that common in the era, either. I kind of wonder if that house will be leveled. It's on stilts and I bet could use some retrofitting, at least. May make more sense to start from scratch.

Okay...my take.. lol...
Views are stunning.
The blue is okay except way to much of it and NO blue fridge
Some of it looks cheap, like the front door, all of the basement.
Mirrored bathroom has to go. The other bathrooms need updated.
I think if the bones are good and a good remodel I think it could be a stunning house.
I love airplanes, so I would keep that... and move it to a man cave/entertainment type room..
I'm sure there is more.. haha.. But I kinda like it... kinda.

I actually don't mind the blue kitchen. The rest of the house is too bland. It's a beautiful building with great bones. That bathroom, though...

For the first time (ever) while looking through a “pea” house, I began to think of the Realtor. A man who, most likely, expects this to drag out and have an eccentric buyer to go along with “blue frig” and “mirrored ceiling”... but now- now there’s ACTIVITY!! People from *all over* are viewing this house! Maybe it’s not so bad. Ha! Poor guy. We will get bored and move on and then zero activity and he will wonder where we all went 😉.

I personally won't do a house on stilts, and that lot looks like it has no other choice. We don't get a lot of earthquakes here at all, but we're expecting a doozy one of these days. And having lived near an active landslide once... I cannot imagine even the best engineered stilts standing up to an earthquake and a possible/likely resulting landslide.

And those areas it might be are definitely not in my price range!

In picture 24 it looks like carpet in the bathroom. I am seeing vacuum tracks.

The rest of the house? I definitely could work with its bones.
