One room at a time isn’t so bad, but I’m a clean painter. 2 weeks ago, DD and I did her bedroom. She did the outlets and light switch removal, and I painted. It took me about an hour and a half. I can cut in and trim clean and steady, so I don’t need to tape off. If I had more than 2 rooms, I’d hire it out though 😂 How to you do it without taping? I'm impressed! I am a sloppy painter, so I have to tape.

I love painting. I get my best thinking done when I'm painting. A few years ago, I finally talked my husband into letting me repaint the living/dining/kitchen/hallway/entry upstairs in our house a different shade of white than what it was when we moved in. I was diagnosed with cancer a week or so into the project (I just painted on the weekends), and it was SUCH a zen thing to do when wrapping my mind around things. I painted the entire thing with a 3 inch brush (I don't like using rollers), and it took forever but was very meditational.
I also painted my daughter's room/nursery before she was born. The walls were half yellow/half light seafoam and I went with a warmer buttery yellow for most of it with white scallops connecting the ceiling to the top of the wall. If that makes any sense. Because the seafoam on the bottom half of the wall was so light, I decided I didn't need a primer. I painted FIVE COATS on those walls before it was totally covered. Literally finished the week before my daughter was born.
PSA: Use primer, even if you are sure you don't need it.

My DH and I have painted many a room. I love color and it is the cheapest way to change a room.
He loves to prep and roll. I love cutting in. We make a really good team😊

Way back, DH wanted a burgundy bedroom. He insisted that we didn't need primer. The first three coats looked like a murder scene and in a store of luck DH had to work the weekend that this room had to be finished. It took me SIX coats of paint and they were a gallon each. It was a very long weekend and cussed him a LOT,lol. We now prime EVERY time we paint. It makes all the difference.

I don’t really love painting, but I don’t like paying someone to do what technically I can do myself. So whenever we need painting done my husband says we should hire someone but I say we should paint ourselves. And we’ve always paint it ourselves.
Four years ago we painted our entire main floor and the upstairs hallway as well as up the stairs in one weekend. It was a lot of painting, but we were getting renovations done on the main floor I needed to do it all in one weekend.
This summer we got renovations done on the second floor and the basement. We painted the second-floor bathroom in one night, and it wasn’t too bad. It looks really good, went quickly, and I think because it was such a small space and went so quickly, it was kind of fun. Then it came time to paint the basement. We had all weekend, but it wasn’t nearly as fun. My husband ended up doing all of the painting. The laundry room didn’t take that long, and turned out really nice, but the family room in the basement took forever and was a huge hassle. It’s still not quite done. And we ended up not painting the basement hallway yet. That will either be this winter or next spring.
We also have unfinished bit of painting in other parts of the house. One kitchen wall needs painting, the ceiling in the kitchen and the main floor hallway needs painting, and our main floor bathroom also needs painting, but I think that’s waiting till next year. It seems like a never ending thing, but once this is all done we won’t have to paint again for years. That makes it all worthwhile.
