Jim from The Office (which dh and I are watching together currently). Not sure my brain can handle this.

Total snooze fest so far. Half way into episode 2. I hope it gets better.

I've been tempted to start this series simply because of John Krasinski (never watched The Office or anything he's been in). I saw him interviewed on Ellen last year and that was it....something about him is very appealing to me That said, I don't do well with blood and guts, nor super suspenseful. What are your thoughts on the series so far?

I finished the series and really liked it. I feel there is very minimal blood and guts, but there is definitely a decent amount of suspense. I think it’s worth a watch. I do struggle with getting past that this is Jim Halpert. In the love scene I was almost mad at him for cheating on Pam.

We must not be far enough in The Office for that, currently Jim is dating the other girl and a Pam just got back together with her ex-fiancé.

You will probably not have any issues with the suspensfulness of it.

We really enjoyed the series. We never watched The Office so we bought him in the role. I was a bit iffy about the future Mrs Ryan but I warmed up to her.

I really like the Jack Ryan good-guy character. Harrison introduced me to him and I love his version of th character. Affleck didn't bring much but at least didn't detract from the role. I really liked Chris Pine as a young Jack Ryan and was hoping they'd continue that JR universe. But I haven't seen this actor in anything except Office clips and am not feeling the little I've seen of this show.
For those of you who like previous iterations, how does this compare?

Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October was the best ever, imo. I'm three episodes in and think this guy is as good as Chris Pine.

Baldwin was certainly amazing, but I never tied the two characters together. At the time I watched them, Harrison was Jack Ryan. So while I loved HfRO, I never associate them as the same story arc or character.

I liked it. It picked up after episode 3, I thought it was a little slow until then.

I’m on episode 5. I like it so far.
I crack up though when Jack/Jim gets a “stern” look—I think he’s trying to channel Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan!!🤣🤣🤣

I binged last weekend on Jack Ryan (8 hours nonstop) and thought it was outstanding. I wan't a big office fan, so I could look at Krasinski as a different character. (I also had recently seen '13 Hours' (about Benghazi) where he was a Seal, and that allowed me to visualize him as an action hero.)
I think it helps to remember that this is not a Clancy book, but based on characters from the Clancy series. This shows his transition from analyst to agent, but set within current events.
It is based upon the strife in the Middle East, so there are some gory scenes.
And now we have to wait another year for Series 2.

I was not a fan of The Office so I am just enjoying John Krasinski for the eye candy that he is! I loved him in Benghazi and also in A Quiet Place.

I never watched the office but I loved Jack Ryan and I'm really pissed it was such a short season. What are we, British?
That said, I know how OP feels as we watched Dr. Who at the same time we watched the first season of Jessica Jones and I had whiplash trying to reconcile the Dr. and Kilgrave.

I'm somewhere in the middle of it.. and yeah cause he IS cheating on poor Pam.. LOL Also, didn't realize that "Jim" had such a HOT bod!!! I love the show though!! It's just too weird to see him in steamy love scenes!
